Romy was fantastic and flexible. She was able to share the history and significance of the sites we saw. She was able to adjust our tour to include the Doge’s Palace and St. Mark’s Basilica at the last minute. In spite downpours and frigid temperatures, Romy found a way to give us a complete overview of the history of Venice around a coffee shop table. When we chose not to brave the elements to see the “hidden gems” sites she had arranged, we came up with an alternate plan to enjoy a cappuccino and pastry while she lead us in learning more about the stories behind the scenes. My wife and I signed up for the Highlights and Hidden Gems of Venice Tour with Romy from 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM. A few days before our tour, she contacted us asking if we could change the tour to the next day, since most of the tour would be in the dark. I sent her our itinerary and we moved the tour to the following day from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM, a much better time of day for exploring Venice. Plus, she was able to plan our tour based on what we had already seen. The chat feature of the WithLocals website allowed for excellent communication prior to our tour. We found Romy to be very professional and a wealth of knowledge about the history of Venice. For 3 hours we wandered the less touristy sections of Venice, walking through many Campos. We hired Romy for the family friendly 2 hour tour. She was amazing. Very knowledgeable, kind and brought Venice to life and helped us see it from the eyes of a local, whilst providing us with historical facts, which we did not know. She kept my children engaged with a scavenger hunt and treats and was patient with the grandparents who had to walk at a slower pace.
