This was my first time using Withlocals and Olga has set the bar high! Her knowledge on local culture and food was exceptional. Each stop on the tour was picked out with purpose as it related to culture and history. It was exactly what I was looking for and she helped me learn much more about the Dutch. Christa was very responsive prior to the tour. Because we were arriving in Amsterdam late we could not do her standard tour. She organized a custom tour for us which could accommodate our schedule and it was amazing. She is delightful to spend time with and very knowledgeable about the city and the local food and establishments. We had a great tour and ate and drank some great things. If you want a way to sample some of the most famous and/or best bites in Amsterdam this is your tour. Our tour guide Elise was lovely and the food we tried was plentiful and delicous. But, this is not a city tour in any way. We walked through one street market and ate at food stalls along the way. Dispte claims on the website, there weas no "highlights of the city" or "walk through Amstrdam's neigborhoods." Nor did we learn anything about Amsterdam's culture or history. Again, what we did was lovely it just was not quite what was advertised. This is a food tasting not a food tour

Word of advice: Don't bash America to American customers. We spent the entire time listening to all of the flaws with American politics. We travel to learn about other cultures. I don't need to fly across the world to hear about my own. I know America has its issues. I don't need to be reminded. He made sweeping generalizations about Americans. He cut us off when we tried to defend ourselves. He kept coughing and picking his nose. I wanted to hear about Dutch culture, history, food, and architecture. I wanted to know why the food and the restaurants we were visiting were special. Instead, he took the easy route and took us to a street market. We paid for 10 foods in 3 hours. We got 7 foods in 2.5 hours. I've never felt so much prejudice being an American. He bragged about how great Dutch culture was and how inclusive it is. Sure, it's inclusive if you're in. Forget being an outsider. This tour was hugely disappointing. Wow...not the good kind

Just as we had hoped, Olga took us to many places we would never have found or tried without her. She explained a bit about the food at each stop and gave us options in case something did not sound good to us (e.g. eel). The highlight for us was authentic stroopwafles made fresh at a street market, but there was much more. A bonus was the suggestions Olga gave us for some of her favorite local restaurants. The tour was sold as 3 hours ten tastings. It was slightly over two hours and had 5 stops, one did have three kinds of fish,so maybe that counts as 3? Martin is very knowledgeable about history and shared some of that, however he talks way too much about his family and personal experiences. Has no interest in you. The tour was a walk down a street with food carts. Could have done this on our own, for much less.Martin is not the best for food tour

Mayra was great. She was friendly, knowledgeable and gave a great walking tour mostly through Albert Cuyp market. She had a plan but was flexible to adjust as needed. We tried some food that we never would have tried without a local guide that we are glad we experienced. She also covered some history of the area and provided some personal perspective. Terrible experience. Would never recommend. Guide wouldn’t issue partial refund when we paid $300 plus dollar and couldn’t make the tour due to our delayed flight. We did not make it to our hotel to drop luggage till 4:45 and guide said she was available until 6pm which didn’t make sense. With locals did not help at all, we will be in Europe for 10 more days and they wouldn’t reschedule us in another city.Plane delayed, WOULD NOT RECOMMEND

We very much enjoyed our 10 Tastings of Amsterdam tour with Marten. Marten was a great guide! Not only did he give us the an understanding of the food we were tasting, he also gave us so much knowledge and information about Dutch culture! She was so knowledgeable, not only about the best food spots, but also about the city’s history, architecture and culture. She was able to customize the food selections based on our preferences, with a nice balance of savory and sweet, with an emphasis on the best local vendors for a truly authentic experience. Olga was a fantastic guide, taking us to local places for traditional Dutch food. Every place she took us from the street market for fish (kibbling) and Dutch stroopwafels to the “brown cafe” (i.e. pub) for bitterballen were places we would probably not have found or tried. We also appreciated all the interesting facts and Dutch customs she explained along the way! Highly recommend “with locals” and especially Olga!! Loved it all!
