Marina was very thoughtful and engaging throughout the entire process, and was a delight to work with! Marina was the perfect guide. She was charming and so knowledgeable. I was with 2 friends and we learnt so much in 3 hours which flew by! It is hard for me to rate this experience. First of all we loved Kim. She gave us a delightful walking tour around Bordeaux and showed us many of the architectural and historical sites. Our only issue with the tour was that it did not fulfill how the company explained. They stated the tour would be “10 delicious tastings across the city's iconic spots. From savory crèpes to fine Bordeaux wine”. We were offered a croissant, a canele, chestnut bread, ice cream and the savory was a “French taco”. The drink was mint tea. Again, we enjoyed Kim, but $100 per person for a taste of Bordeaux did not fit what we got. A nice walking tour but not a food tour. Loved Kim!!!!

We waited at the meeting place at the meeting time for 15 minutes. Our walking tour was entirely paid for and there was no cancellation. We called Mark on the number listed. We then texted him. It is now the morning after and we still haven’t heard from him. All we have received is a text and an email from Withlocals asking us for a review. There isn’t anything where on the Withlocals app for us to request help or communicate with a live person. We are still trying to find out how to get a refund. We really don’t know what happened. Mark never showed up

There are tour guides who just do it for fun or money and then there are exceptional guides like Marina who are simply passionate about their city and want to share the joy. From the advance preparation taking into account all our various dietary requirements to changing our tour during the tour when she saw our reaction to chocolate (we were so delighted that she added in a second chocolate shop)! I can’t praise Marina highly enough. I have done food tours all over the world and Marina is by far the best guide we have had. You can’t invent passion!

Marina was very interested (already upfront) in finding out what we were interested in tasting, to be able to tailor the tour to us. Walking through the city, we soon felt like walking through the city with a friend. Her tasting choices for us were perfect (cheese, charcuterie, olive oil,…) and we also learnt something about Bordeaux’s history and the artisan producers she took us to. This tour came up short for us. We’ve done food tours in several other cities in Europe, that set our expectations. On this one, in our opinion, we did not experience authentic bites nor learn too much about the city. Don’t get me wrong, the individual contributors and their produce were very good but not the authentic dishes of Bordeaux (crepes were promised on listing and coffee and for a lunch time tour we finished hungry) and light on major sites, Cathedrals or history.Bordeaux Food Tour

After traveling through the Basque Country in Spain, we arrived to Bordeaux. Without doubt one of the best stops on our trip. "We" is a group of 11 like-minded friends who have been traveling together for the last 15+ years all over the world. In our experience, the tour guide can make it or break it for the entire group. Upon arrival we were warmly welcomed by Marina. She even reached out to us few days in advance to reconfirm. We felt welcomed and with such a friendly atmosphere we had a fantastic start! The guide and tour was extremely good, very flexible (appreciate this!) and for that she deserves a special thanks. We had great couple of hours there, which obviously also added up to the experience. Marina is such a warm personality and highly educated and motivated guide with love for Bordeaux. All of us truly enjoyed walking through Bordeaux old town. The scenery and sights were beautiful and it was a relieve to walk through it. The tips and recommendations what else to explore at the end (we did go to La Cite du Vin!) and best restaurants to sample the local cuisine were a great way to end the tour. The atmosphere was very special that it really felt like home to all of us. All respect for Marina who does a great job there; a true sample of excellent tour guide! We really enjoyed our walking tour around Bordeaux! She managed to show us many interesting places, despite the rain! Marina’s historical knowledge is also excellent which made the tour all the more interesting. One of the highlights was a great coffee shop - Marina knows how particular us Aussies are about our coffee! Kim Kim, our With Locals tours, was such an amazing guide meeting and exceeding our high standards from the company! Kim was very prompt in accommodating our short notice request for a tour of Bordeaux city highlights. Kim met us at a retail clothing store because we needed rain gear and she made great improvised suggestions for touring the city to accommodate my wife’s limited walking needs. Along the way Kim was greeted by many local businesses that she patronized. Kim guided us on the trams to see so many beautiful & historical sites within our time restraints. She explained the history & significance of various venues in a way that did not go over our head with trivia details. We finished the tour at one of Kim’s favorite wine & cheese shops where she knew the owner. As a result we were treated to an exceptional & delicious menu of various cheeses, meats and guided in selection of white and red wines fitting of our feast. We actually had a second day tour with Kim with very limited time allotment and she was fantastic help with getting me a refill at local pharmacy with a medication that I had exhausted during the cruise. This experience sealed the deal, Kim is by far the best With Locals tour guide we have used over the years when we travel to Europe and SEC Asia. My wife & I will use Kim Kim again on our return trip to Bordeaux to experience the larger geographical area. The Best Guide we have experienced!

Marina was excellent! She contacted me ahead of time to set up the tour and changed the meeting place so it was closer to the port. She was on time and very personable, and we had a wonderful time exploring Bordeaux and stopping for pastries and coffee. Spending the day with Marina was lovely! Our group of four people (all adults aged 30 - 50 y.o.) had a great time learning about Bordeaux's culinary traditions, as well as the city's broader political and cultural history. Everything was paced very nicely with lots of little stops and discussions, and I think people of all ages would have a wonderful introduction to the city through Marina. She was very kind in making sure we could see lots of hidden gems throughout the city, so the three hours flew by. Despite the limited time we had, we got a good overview of some of Bordeaux' highlights and even managed to squeeze in lunch. Marina can manage a quick pace if needed but with sufficient pause to explain. Personally though it would be better if we could have booked Marina directly than through Withlocals. We‘d been to Bordeaux a few times already but hadn’t heard the facts or been to places that Marina showed us. She combines the history with the present in her tour, which makes it interesting and memorable. She has shown us not only the must-see places, but also the nice modern cafes and restaurants. We have even been in a cafe/cinema in a former church! We could also make our changes to the route, whenever we wanted to visit some shop or grab a coffee. It felt like a nice walk with a local friend. Highly recommend if you are looking for an exclusive experience which you can hardly find in any guide on internet.Fantastic discovery with Marina

Rosie is a friendly, warm and lovely person but does not have any background on history, architecture or vibes of the city. She will walk the city with you but you won’t learn much and not much own stories to be told like we have experienced in other cities. Local with no story to tell
