Walter shared the treasures of his home town — its food, wine, history, politics, and people— all on a relaxed and fun filled Sunday. He took us off the well traveled routes to quiet alleys, hidden pastry shops, and quiet cafes where local families were sharing meals. He even drove us to see the beach and the many flamingos. While travelling solo, booked the 10 tastings tour on the first day, with Riccardo. Best decision, as Riccardo is very knowledgeable about his home town! City history, best places to go to for food icecream and drinks, nice giftshops. Following days I revisited a few ofnthe restaurants because the food was so delicious. My wife and I were on a cruise with a one-day stop in Cagliari. We weren't sure how to take in all of the rich history and culinary traditions of Sardinia in such a short time. Then, we discovered Walter. He met us outside the cruise terminal gate, and and drove us to the highest of the seven hills surrounding Cagliari, where there was a walled-in city that dated back to the Roman era. We then proceeded to walk downhill along cobblestone streets and charming alleys enjoying the local fare, and even strolled through an open air market where we sampled many of the local foods. The price we paid meant that Walter paid for the food and even the wine that we sampled. We covered about seven miles of walking, eating our way down the hill. Of course, we were fine with the walking, and Walter had tailored this trip to our tastes. For those that want to walk less, he would assuredly tailor the day to your whims. I was traveling solo, so this was a great way to see the city and try local favorites. Riccardo went above and beyond to make sure I was enjoying myself and planned out stops by what I enjoy. Riccardo took us to local delicacies and a great overview of their culture. Especially enjoyed the cookie shop, seafood stop and wine and appetizers at the last place. We had the absolute best day with Francesca. It felt like spending a day with an old friend. The tour itself in terms of food was great - we were really excited to try some typical Sardinian foods and Francesca’s selections did not disappoint. We toured the local market and enjoyed fresh oysters, stood in front of a typical cured meat counter and enjoy wine and locally cured meats, stopped for coffee and finally finished the day for a tasting some some really traditional foods - including donkey! Francesca was lovely and very knowledgeable about Cagliari. We toured the market and had wonderful food at several locations, then we went to Castello and several other historical sights learning about the history of the area while also tasting more wonderful local dishes. I had the most amazing time with Chiara! I was very nervous never having taken a Withlocals adventure before and I was told by the information desk near the cruise ship the meeting place was a long distance away. I messaged Chiara concerned, she just went above and beyond to make sure I was able to enjoy this experience. She fully catered this experience to how I was feeling in the heatwave and my nervousness about the cruise ship timing. This was our first time in Cagliari and we really enjoyed it. We had some food, some good talk and some history of the town. One regret - out tour was on a Sunday morning. That was the only day we could do it. But the city market was closed and one or two other regular stops were also closed. Ricardo took us to some very nice places, but I would have loved to see the market with him . I guess we will do that the next time!!Cagliari food tour

If you are looking for a city tour with all hidden gems, Walter is the right choice for you! It is like exploring the city with a friend. He was born in Cagliari and, therefore, knows the best spots and has the best stories. The only advice I would give, not to Walter, but rather to the Tour Organizer, is that you should maybe just call it a „food tour“ without mentioning an exact number of food spots. The description stated 10, but we had 2 in reality. Which was completely enough for us. The expectation was was just different. Still 10/10!!!Cagliari wih a friend!

Our tour began at the local market and before we had even finished with the first vendor we knew we had made the perfect choice in guides. We had a great, but also very exhausting day (many hills to climb in Cagliari!). At the end we felt that we „understand“ the city and its history. Highlights were the people we met on our way, who had a true passion for their food. The Seada (with honey from the strawberry tree!) were by far the best we tried on the whole island - and we tried a few. 😜 If you wanted to improve something, it would be to respond to the wishes expressed in the booking form and to distribute the food stops more evenly along the way.Great guide

We spent an amazing afternoon and evening with Riccardo learning about the food, culture and history of Sardegna. Riccardo organized the tour very well and took us to beautiful places we would have never found otherwise. Dietary requirements were taken into consideration, at the same time we tried exciting new dishes. We got to learn a lot about the city of Cagliary and Riccardo took the time to answer all our questions. Walter was the best guide! We spent 3 hours tasting the local treats- from cheese to desserts. As a native of the city he knows so much about its history and shared his passion and love of his home town. He was fun to talk to and based the food tastings on our preference for vegetarian options. We were able to visit local bakeries, pasta shops and the large food market - places we’d never have found on our own! Walter was a really lovely friendly host. The whole point of a food tour is to however, enjoy the local food. The tour is misleading with 6 eateries mentioned. We ate: 1. A pizzeta (approx €3) 2. A platter if antipasti with cold cut meats and cheese with a glass of wine each (approx €20) 3. An amaretti biscuit shop (free samples) Even then Walter said we didn’t have to go to the last stop. Very expensive for €82 per person and whilst we had a good tour of the city, this was a food tour. We actually went out for food after! Great host but not enough food

I booked a private tour with Walter for a small group sailing together on a cruise. We met at a location convenient to walk to from the ship and got started right on time. Walter explained that our route would take us through all of the major neighborhoods in Cagliari, and explained a bit about the history and culture of each area. The focus of our tour was underground Calgiari, so we spent a good amount of time beneath churches and historical sites where ancient ruins had been found, and in some cases restored. It was fascinating, and we felt that we got a great value for what we paid vs a tour from the ship. I'm sure we covered more in 2.5 hours than the much more expensive 4 hour ship tour. Note: there is a lot of walking on hilly streets, so be aware. We did have one member of our group who skipped the last part because of knee problems, but if you can manage the walking, the views are well worth it! Walter was personable and fun, and interacted with the group in a very nice way, being sure to include everyone. We would 10/10 do it again, and if we return to Cagliari we will book another tour with Walter.More than we had hoped for!

Our group of four only had one day to visit Cagliari. Walter’s tour was the perfect overview of the town. While our tour was nominally a tour of the “underground,” he gave us lots of history and insight into what was above ground too. I don’t know that we’d have discovered the sites he shared with us without his guidance. Loved having an intimate group because we could ask questions relevant to our interests and previous knowledge so easily. His tour was really a fantastic finish to our visit to beautiful Sardinia.More than just underground - great tour!
