She introduced us to the scrumptious foods of Porto along with imparting her vast knowledge of wines, in particular port wines. On this tour, she shared history of Portugal and Porto. Maria did an excellent job guiding us around her neighborhood in Porto. She hit all the things that Porto is known for, pastries, pork sandwiches, cured meats, sardines, etc. and she obviously had relationships with many of the proprietors. Her sommelier background was a great addition. She steered us to some excellent tastings in the Douro Valley the next day.Great experience!

Got the chance to meet Antonio today and wander around Porto. He introduced me to some uniquely Porto delights both sweet and savory. My husband and I had such a fun afternoon on our food tour in Porto with Miguel. In just 3 hours we were able to go to so many unique places and taste a number of interesting Portuguese delicacies that we would otherwise not have known about. We had a wonderful trip with Vera. We were two couples - not very young. Vera knew how to keep an appropriate pace so that we could all keep up. We really got a lot of exciting tastings - and a lot of food - when you sum it all up. Vera has a lovely winning personality - with a wonderful sense of humor. We can only recommend this trip. P.s. We had a wonderful afternoon with Ana tasting the foods and wine of Porto. We loved that the tour featured local shops and food and none of the tourist hot spots that you can find on your own. Recently we arrived in Porto from a cruise and in place of the standard cruise excursions we tried something different with Miguel. We made the correct choice. I was there as a group of 2x 30 year old and 3 in their 70s. Everything was done at pace with the group and we had the best experience across all the ages. Andre was amazing. With 9 ladies it is hard to move around and get all the taste put together, but Andre made it an amazing experience. We loved seeing the city, trying the foods and drinks. A few days before our tour, I contacted the tour guide and advised him that I don’t eat pork. The tour guide confirmed that he could make food substitutions to accommodate my dietary restriction. Despite this assurance, during the tour itself, the tour guide complained about how hard it was to find non-pork alternatives. Since I had just participated in a different food tour in Lisbon, and that tour guide had no difficulty with finding non-pork options, I was surprised by how much of an issue this seemed to have caused. Separately from the dietary restriction issue, most of the food was cold fried foods or cold baked goods. The tour guide was sullen for most of the tour and my partner, and I struggled to have a conversation with him. Bad Experience; Dietary Restrictions

On the morning of our scheduled private food tour, we set out from our hotel to the meet point and not only did it start raining, but it was hailing. Yet there was Miguel on time and ready to take us on a food journey of Porto. Luckily the rain (and hail) subsided and Miguel took us to places we never would’ve walked into by looking from the outside. Each place was amazing and Miguel shared with us some of the nuances of the food we were tasting, and the establishments. This was definitely one of the highlights of our trip to Portugal. We had the BEST time with Vera! We booked the food tour the afternoon of the day we landed to help with jet lag and Vera was a ray of sunshine! She’s kind, knowledgeable and just a joy to be around. We ate so much delicious food and saw amazing sites along the way. Our party of 4 had age ranges from 78-32 and everyone loved it. We even had a knee scooter due to a hurt foot and Vera made sure everyone was comfortable the entire time. We had a blast!!Best time with Vera!

We learned more about Porto in those 3 hours than in the rest of our visit plus previous visits. We had never fancied trying bifanas but the ones André found for us were nothing like the pictures we had seen. They were excellent, as was the rest of the food we tasted. André even took note of my request for a taste of Tripas à moda do Porto although he wasn’t able to find a dish at short notice. We learned the history of the establishments we visited and he also told us the story behind the buildings. The best 3 hours of our visit
