Just a quick note only, if you do this tour make sure you save make company, I was exploited into his friends shops to purchase jewellery etc, it’s nut really a food tour, Youseff knows everybody in the soul. I’ve never been so traumatised and perhaps going alone as my husband was unwell was not the right thing to do in Tanger. Be Careful

Thami war wirklich freundlich und man hat ihm seine Faszination für die Historie seiner Heimatstadt absolut angemerkt. Er hat uns sowohl geschichtlich als auch kulinarisch ein paar spannende Einblicke gegeben. We highly recommend this tour by Youssef. We had a great half a day food tour with perfect insights into Medina and Kasbah. We learned a lot about the places, Moroccan history and people. We met Thami outside the cruise terminal and he gave us a very informative tour until it was interrupted and he was unable to finish the tour. He quickly found another tour guide, Azeed, who graciously took over and we had a wonderful day. We felt like we had a nice overview of Tangier and would book with Thami or Azeed again! Let me start by saying that the guide was very kind and knowledgeable about Tangier. That said, this wasn't really what I signed up for. Instead of it being multiple tastings in local spots, I ate at two places: I was given an olive to try at a market and then I had a multi-course lunch at a restaurant. The restaurant, Vandalucia, was a bit hit and miss but I did get a lot of food. The owner was very kind, and wanted to make sure l had a nice experience. I did notice though that the only other people in the restaurant were other tourists being brought there by their guide. I did not see any locals eating there. The guide was also not with me for most of my time at the restaurant, as he went home for lunch. This didn’t really bother me, I just would have liked a little explanation of some of the foods I was eating. I should also mention that I was brought to two stores on this tour. A natural pharmacy and a rug shop. The pharmacy shopkeeper was a bit eager to have me buy something but was still respectful and kind. The rug shopkeeper was very kind and had me know right away that there was zero obligation to buy anything. I just thought I should mention the shop visits because it was not in the tour description. Overall, this was not a bad tour. Like I said, I saw all of the main sites of Old Tangier and my guide was happy to take pictures of me and explain the history. It just wasn’t a very good food tour, as it felt like I was just shuttled to a touristy restaurant to get a meal in me and then move on to the rest of the tour. For that reason, I don’t recommend against taking this tour, but I do recommend reaching out to your guide beforehand to confirm that you will have multiple stops for food. More of a tour with food than a food tour

We have been going to costa de la luz for years and had never taken the tangeri trip as we assumed it wouldn’t be particularly interesting - how wrong we were!! We took the 9am boat from tarifa and thami met us with his big smile from the boat 😊. From there we wandered up and down between the Medina and the kasbah, listening to his explanations of the unique history of the incredible city and the country too, as well as an insight into the daily culture and meeting so many different people. Thami even embraced one of our kids’ School Project to do a vlog about the trip!! Time flew and we loved it all, we said goodbye and went on for a wonderful lunch in a place Thami suggested and a wander around the Medina and souk until our return ferry at 6pm. In case you’re wondering if it’s worth it - my answer is DEFINITELY if you have the right guide, and we had the best 🤩Great trip to tangier

As much as I would like i give a positive review I cannot. I purchased a private guided tour in a car with guide and driver. When I met Thami at the cruise port he immediate told me there would be 8 people for 3 hours and then 4 people on my tour for an additional 1 hour. The other two women insisted on returning to the ship at the end of 3 hours, which we did. I was confirmed for 2 people and private for 7 hours. The first 3 hours was all walking up and down hills, which I was not informed of before booking this tour. I could not do that and so I sat on a bench for 2 hours until a driver picked me up. I totally missed the Medina market which was a highlight of Tangier for me. I was totally mislead. I specifically wanted a private tour so I could tell Thami exactly where I wanted to go and see. I also missed the Jewish synagogue, which was on my list. very disappointing

Thami was our tour guide in Tangier. He has an infectious personality, which put us right at ease. He was extremely informative about the history of the city and the buildings. We were grateful that he took the day away from his new baby and family celebration to show us around a charming, historical city. A once in a lifetime trip for us. He was most accommodating when people wanted to see things that hadn’t been planned. His goal was to make all of his clients happy and he never rushed us. We didn’t feel like we were watching the clock. My sister-in-law and I would highly recommend using him. It was an A plus experience. Time with Thami

We booked Thami very last minute (2 hrs before we arrived) and we moved the meeting point, but he was ready and waiting for our excellent guided tour. He explained everything clearly but not in too much detail (we had two kids who could tire easily) and showed us around Tangier whilst also tasting the odd local snack en route. He was knowledgable, kind, friendly and helpful answering many questions and making us all feel at ease for our kids first trip to Africa. Highly recommend. Thami was great!

We booked a tour with Youssef in May 2025 after reading reviews and confirming he would be available June 18, 2025 'my birthday'. There was a negative review of similar nature I will describe however I believe in giving persons the benefit of doubt as that was someone else's experience. The day before the tour, I confirmed everything was still on only to be told by Youssef he was not available and someone from his team will fill in. He could have informed us weeks prior as that would allow us to prepare for a 'different host' selected by Youssef or cancel. The reviews are based o. Youssef not others. The member of his team was definately what I would describe NOT a true 'with locals' host. This in my opinion is and was desigenous and only serves to bring Youssef's ratings down. His team member was a robot just reciting basic facts, rushed and not engaging. It felt like a tour with a 'robot' as previously reviewed. This best part of the tour was the lunch which I requested for my birthday that day. I have never had a bad experience 'with locals' however hosts like this will only serve to make people think twice about booking experiences.

When I booked this I was encouraged by Youssef bio, and the great reviews. He called me the night before the tour to say he was hours away in Fez, I presume he waited until this time to tell me so we couldn’t cancel and get a refund, he told me Hassan would collect us instead. I was disappointed because the tour was very expensive compared to others available but we had no choice. It started badly when he didn’t show up to our Riad as had been told to go to the wrong one, we met up with him and his driver (lovely man) and started the tour. Hassan talked facing forward monotone for 3 hours without drawing breath, he seemed annoyed when we interrupted his monologue with a question - he literally just spouted facts, had no charm, didn’t ask us what we were interested in, asked us no questions. The forest stop and lighthouse were great places to visit, but we were then passed to a strange man for the Hercules cave part of the tour who constantly pulled us and pushed us in the dark to position us for photos, this was completely inappropriate and none of felt comfortable with his behaviour. We then went to the medina. Expecting this to be the highlight of the tour, we walked into the old town and asked for a lunch stop recommendation. Hassan showed us to a very average Cafe Central - he explained because we didn’t want to buy any ‘quality’ items we didn’t need him and the tour was over. Two hours early. We’d paid over €300 euros for 3 hours of being talked at. The cafe was not what we wanted to eat (pizza etc) so we got up and left, to his credit he saw us leave from his cafe and recommended a Moroccan restaurant which was very nice. Honestly we are a nice family, we paid a lot of money for the tour and it wasn’t worth a tenth of the price. If you book this I would ask who was going to be taking the tour and get a guarantee you can cancel and get a refund if youseff isn’t available. Love Tangier really disappointed with this guide experience.Not worth the money and different guide

We booked last minute and were very lucky to find Thami had availability. We spent 3 hours walking and talking (and eating & drinking) at all the local spots. What was unique and most amazing on this walk was how much knowledge and love for the city he has. Many tours bounce you from spot to spot on a schedule often missing small moments or chances to sample local feeds, conversations or experiences. We drank coffee, ate fresh olives and dates, visited with Argan oil experts and even spent time watching and being shown working looms in the textile streets. We finished with a perfect view, mint tea and Thami giving us a final authentic experience at Cafe Hafa. Theres no question he loves this town and it loves him right back, he was greeted almost every five minutes and his friends and local business partners welcomed us in, shared their stories and products and made us feel at home. Can not recommend enough.Thami is Tangiers! Amazing Experience

We took a three hour walking tour around the Medina, Kasbah and surrounding areas in Tangier with Thami. I would totally recommend Thami as a knowledgeable, experienced and fascinating guide. Our guide Youssef wasn't available for our tour so we had it with another man. It was ok, he was very polite but we didn't learn very much..all he wanted us to know was that everyone knows him wherever he goes. he took us to Asilah and it was nice but his driver drove like an absolute maniac. We were also wanting to shop in the Medina but he took us only to places where he was going to get a kick back.. it was a very disappointing experience. Not Impressed

When I booked my tour with Youssef I read his background and decided he sounded perfect for me. He and I had a nice text conversation (at least I think it was Youssef) about the places he will take me. The next day a different guide, Mohammed, showed up to pick me up and do the tour. Mohammed didn't acknowledge the change until I asked--where is Youssef? The whole reason I booked this trip was because of what I read about Youssef. Mohammed was an okay guide. Very nice, but without depth to his knowledge. He primarily recited memorized facts, which may or may not have been true: this was the first women's prison. This was the first school. This may have been a roman graveyard. Nothing more than those facts. And leading us from thing to thing. Of all the things he said we'd do at the beginning, about a quarter of them were never mentioned again. And there was no mention of the conversation I'd had with Youssef. Youssef swapped for another guide

Thami was a fantastic guide. I booked his tour only about two hours before it began because I planned my visit last minute, and it could not have turned out better. Notre guide n'était pas Youssef mais un de ses amis, une source d'érudition et d'anecdotes, qui avait l'air de connaître toute la medina ;-) Nous avons été parfaitement guidés dans les méandres de la ville nouvelle puis de la medina et sa kasbah. Thami hat uns vorher empfohlen, nicht nur eine Altstadttour zu Fuß durch Tanger zu machen, sondern zusätzlich Cap Spartel und Asilah mitzubuchen. Der Aufpreis für den Privatbus (wir waren 8 Personen) war sein Geld in jedem Fall wert. Omar war ein umsichtiger Busfahrer und der Mercedes-Bus ein 15-Sitzer neuerer Bauart, vollklimatisiert und sehr bequem. Thami hat uns zunächst Asilah gezeigt und mit seinem Wissen über Kultur und Geschichte, Land und Leute und Religion beeindruckt. Er betreibt auch eine Sprachschule, sein Deutsch war hervorragend. Asilah und damit unsere Ausflugserweiterung ist absolut empfehlenswert. Auf der Rückfahrt waren wir in Cap Spartel, absolut sehenswerter Park und Leuchtturm mit Meerblick. Dann noch gut 90 min durch die Kasbah und die Medhina, wo er uns immer wieder kleine Ecken und Plätze gezeigt und erklärt hat, die andere Touren wahrscheinlich nicht zu sehen bekommen. Es war ein sehr schöner Tag. Großartiger Tag mit persönlicher Betreuung

What can you see in any town if you only have a couple of hours? Not much... Is it even worth it to bother? Well... book a 2 hours Kick Starter Tour with Thami and let him surprise you. Thami is a reliable guide. He picked us up from the port after waiting for us for over an hour. Important tip: make sure you stamp your passport on the ferry, otherwise your disembarkment will take for ever! The walk was pretty fast, but Thami made sure that we were able to keep up with him. His knowledge and passion about the place is impressive. We could not stop anywhere for long but had a nice break at Cinema Rif Cafe. It is well deserved after climbing the hills of Medina. You will be given access to cafe's Wifi so you can post hot of the press snaps of Tangier while enjoying a cup of fresh, strong mint tea. Great spot. And then comes the visit to Tangier's fish market. If like us you haven't been to the Orient you will be greatly impressed. Hustle and bustle of this place is difficult to describe. The noise, colours, flavours and smells and friendly traders tempting you with their exotic catch. The taste of fresh oysters offered to us (courtesy of Thami)... was a cherry on this amazing cake! He obviously knew a lot about the area. He was born and grew up in the medina. He talks the whole time - often when walking and so his voice is projecting forward when everyone is behind him. He often repeated the same information. The restaurant he suggested for us at the end was good - but be prepared to pay $20 USD for a variety of fairly small portions and they asked for a tip.Very knoweldgable and talks the whole time

We only had a few hours one day and Youssef was a wonderful guide. Had we been on our own, we would never have been exposed to so much and with so much meaning. Youseff was extremely knowledgeable and answered all of our questions. I highly recommend that you visit Tangier with Youssef as your guide. Monica Wondeful Time!

As a family of 4 we took a day trip to Tangier from Tarifa and we do not regret the day at all as it was a highlight on our trip to Spain. It was a packed day full of seeing as much of Tangier in 5-6 hours as possible. We booked with Yousseff but ended up with Hassam. He was clearly knowledgeable about this city, was well known and everyone said hello to him on the tour which did make us feel like he was local. He provided tons of history and background as we toured the city and took in the sights and sounds of Tangier Morocco. The driver for the van was fantastic and very professional. We wish we would have booked an overnight so that we could have spent the full day following as well to be able to experience even more since it was so close to Spain. We drove around the city to see the sights in the van and that was great, although our guide spoke so quickly that sometimes it was hard to catch it all along with his accent. We saw Hercules caves and had a short-very short Camel ride. If you have the opportunity get a longer camel ride as it would be so worth it. In the Medina, he took us to places to appreciate the local artisans such as rug making, woven scarves and clothes, and silver. We also went to a spice vendor where we ended up buying some Argan oil and spices. All the vendors showed us how their crafts were made but at times it did feel a bit like a sales pitch and took up some of our time which was dissappointing. The walk through the Medina was incredible; the sights, the sounds and I would not have wanted to do it without a guide as it was a total maze of small alleyways. It was very rushed though and we wished we would have time to just linger at times during this tour which is why I recommend an overnight if possible. Hassam provided lots of history and local information on our tour which was appreciated. Tangier was not what we expected at all and the Medina was what we expected. It is a large city with so much to see. Overall the cost of the tour was good value for money, but recognize that once there you will incur other expenses that will add up along with the cost of the Ferry which for 4 persons return was more expensive than I was expecting. Also, know that at times your guide leaves you alone like in the restaurant or with the vendors and that was a piece we did not really like. Overall it was an excellent day that provided a great overview of what Tangier had to offer. We know that we want to go back to Morocco for sure after this tour! The lunch was a highlight of the tour, it was so delicious and the view spectacular. We could have spent the whole afternoon drinking mint tea on the balcony of that restaurant. If you're planning to visit Tangier (or rest of Morocco) Youssef and his crew will provide you with the most tailored, efficient and anxiety free experience. It won't be the cheapest option but we got more than we paid for. Already thinking about Marrakesh / Atlas in couple of years. Thx Hassan & Youssef! One of the most efficient day trips!

We met at a cafe in town. Thami ask if we were ok walking briskly. My wife and I are both pretty fit so we said that would be great for us. He guided us through the city, and took us through the markets. He stopped by a looming shop to show us how the rugs, blankets and scarves are made. My wife bought several scarves. Also, there was a stop at an herbal medicine shop. Merchants in the markets are quite pushy, the corridors very narrow, and there is a lot of activity. At the end of the tour he dropped us off at a restaurant, although we said we were not hungry, Thami pointed the way out, and he left. Before we knew it there was an entire meal in front of us, which we just nibbled at. You have to be very assertive with your “NO” in Tangier. Thami also didn’t say the restaurant was “cash only”. We don’t carry cash and refused to use an ATM is that area, so the restaurant owner took us to a nearby shop, I’m guessing he owned as well, and charged our Visa. This was a hassle. Thankfully I have cellular service and could use google maps to get us back to the cruise port. We didn’t mind the pace of the tour but didn’t appreciate getting dumped off at the end. The stops in market feel like your being handled but that’s the whole vibe of the Tangier market. The hustle and bustle of the Tangier streets not for everyone. Fast paced walking tour
