We (a group of 5) booked for 4pm, and moved to 5pm to accommodate Bruna's schedule (or we could move to a colleague). There were only 2 food stops: one at a food stand by the Triton Fountain, for pastizzi (cheese/pea) and the second at Luciano in Merchants Street, for a platter and a pizza. Bruna also gave us a box of Maltese biscuits. The tour lasted only 2 hours, not 3, finishing at the Queen Victoria Pub. After the tour we asked why, and it was because we were "very energetic". The tour was not absolutely not worth the EUR425.43 we paid, and WithLocals has provided a gift voucher for part of the cost.Disappointing

We had a wonderful time in this tour. We tried so many delicious dishes (many of which we'd never be brave enough to order normally) We were taken to a number of lovely places with some real hidden gems. We were 4 friends who had a lovely evening with Josefa in Valleta. It felt like being with a fifth friend. Josefa is very easy to talk to and very knowledgeable about all sorts of things to do with Malta. We tried some local dishes which we wouldn't have even known about without a guide. It's also brilliant to do a tour like this on your first day as it gives you your bearings for the rest of your trip and other great ideas for what to see and do. The Tour did not match our expectations, Bruna wasn’t there and the other girl was polite but could barely speak English and was very annoyed. The food was bad: just cheap stuff … not worth the price…

Withlocals truly delivers on it’s promise. Our guide, Josefa, was not only knowledgable but warm, lively and curious. While tasting a wide variety of Maltese food she recounted history, the provenance of each tasting item & local customs all while pointing out significant sites. Jo is the perfect host to begin your stay in Valletta. She is extremely knowledgeable about her city and very enthusiastic to share any information that you could possibly need. We came to Malta for our honeymoon and booked a food tour with Jo. DO NOT MISS THIS! We had such a great time exploring Valletta, eating yummy food, and experiencing the drinks! She gave many great recommendations, answered questions, taught us a ton about Valletta, and even told where the best place to watch the New Years Eve fireworks was. We had a great time! Jo is a very likeable and open person. She's very knowledgeable about the history of Malta and she perfectly combines this with her an her families history. The food she selected was a perfect representation of the Maltese cuisine and very tasty, whereby she always made sure that the choices were in line with our taste. We did not know what to expect when we began our tour. Bruna orchestrated the perfect afternoon. She shared her knowledge of the country of Malta and city of Valletta. Bruna chose the perfect places to sample the local food and beer. The relaxed unhurried pace was great and the experience created another super memory for our holiday. Bruna provided a great introduction to Valetta and its history, and we really enjoyed the snacks we tried during the tour. She did a great job making the tour interesting for my 10 year old daughter, and the whole family had a great time. Definitely recommend!Great experience with Bruna!

Victoria is an extremely nice lady with a lot of knowledge about Valetta. She gave a good overview, jumping from one topic to the other, which made it kind of interesting. Unfortunately, it was extremely hot, so it was not that much fun to walk around. But that was not Victorias fault. She also gave us a few helpful tips for restaurants to visit and even walked us to our first reservation. Really nice. Crazy little walk

Victoria was a polite and informative guide. We had an easy pace around the whole of Valletta with Victoria explaining the history of the island and pointing out the history of significant buildings from the Knights Templar to the British.Victoria recommended we go back in our own time to see at leisure a number of buildings, eg Cathedral and Hospital or underground tunnels. We had a lovely tour in Valletta with Ilona. She was extremely knowledgeable about Malta and its history, and was very open and shared knowledge you wouldn’t typically receive in a regular tour, so it was really interesting and insightful. She is also super friendly and funny, very easy to talk to! Ilona took us to some beautiful spots and provided some great recommendations for places to see and eat / drink - not just in Valletta but also where we were staying in Sliema. We had a brilliant morning in Valetta with Ilona. She was so friendly and knowledgeable about all things Malta and clearly loves where she lives. She put us at ease straight away with a warm welcome and we knew we were in good hands for our walking tour. As well as learning a lot about the history of Valetta, Ilona was also happy to discuss some of the more sensitive topics around the culture and changes she has witnessed in Malta since moving there. This was really refreshing and is why we find these one on one tours so valuable as part of our stay in a new place. Ilona pointed out plenty of useful hints and tips about the city and island which we went back and explored further during our trip. I booked a 2h walking tour of Valetta as part of a bachelorette party and it was the best way to end our trip! Josefa is very passionate and knowledgable about her home town of Valetta. She gave us lots of history about the city as well as the best spots to eat/visit. She was really kind and even offered all of us a drink in her local pub at the end to celebrate the bride to be which was so much fun! I would highly recommend using Josefa! Fantastic Guide!

Josefa was an excellent guide. She went beyond our expectations in giving us an unforgettable experience of Valletta, including its delightful hidden secrets. She was knowledgeable, professional and friendly. Our tour coincided with Mother’s Day which presented some challenges in finding a place to sample Maltese delights at the end of the tour. She handled it in her stride and found us somewhere nice. This meant that she went way over the allocated time for the tour, but she was more interested in making sure we were happy and settled after a huge morning of walking (18,000 steps!). Josefa is an asset to Withlocals.

So far, With Locals tours are 3 for 3! Ilona is not a native of Malta, but she has made it her home for 8 years and knows a lot. It is obvious that she loves Valetta and is knowledgeable about the history of the island. She is friendly, down-to-earth, flexible, fun and entertaining. She really tailored our time to what we wanted to see, and took us to more local areas away from the crowds. We stopped at a cafe and got pistachio pastries and espresso/cappuccino (mine with Sambucca) which was delicious. If you are looking for a detailed historical tour with hundreds of exact dates and facts, this is not for you. But if you want a tour that shows you Valleta and gives you an understanding of the history of the city and of Malta without getting deep in the details, then we highly recommend you book with Ilona. Bruna accommodated a later time for me and I was so grateful and she advised that her representative Deborah will so the tour. I arrived early and could not see a guide however it ended up that Deborah was there the whole time and on her phone and not looking for me at all until I approached her. Deborah was friendly and shared interesting facts of fascinating Valletta. However she spent a lot of time on her phone and did not dedicate her time to the tour.i also struggled to understand her at times.

The whole idea of "withlocal" is not just to go around a few random places that happen to be open and eat some stuff. It is much more about "local" experience, learning about history, culture, etc. To that extent: 1. Our guide was someone who moved to Malta only 2 months ago (to learn English). She had less local knowledge than we do. Sho did not spoke Maltese and could barely speak English. This was absolutely not the "local" experi nce. 2. 2 of the 4 places on her list were closed, she just tried to drag us to some other random restaurants. We actually gave up and cut our tour short. 3. We got no information on the towns history, architecture, culture, etc. We just walked from one place to another. 4. We did food tours in many different countries and cities. We actually even had a food tour with your company in Naples last December. And it was always someone local, who can tell stories, share knowledge... Our today's tour in Valletta was by far the worst experience we've ever had.Really bad

Josefa is a wonderful 'With Locals' host. Her knowledge of the City was very insightful. Thalyta was warm and friendly, very knowledgeable, and brought us to some really amazing places. Everything we ate (from local drinks, sandwiches, and desserts) was fantastic and well rounded. We had a delicious salad with local cheese and a tomato and local meat pasta, as well as a variety of sweet desserts and pastries. We also got to try some of the local drinks and alcohol that we wouldn’t think to try! She curates the tour to fit your needs and preferences, and we enjoyed everything we ate! While walking to the different restaurants she highlights interesting facts and monuments throughout Valleta, and we saw things that we would not have noticed if she didn’t show us. All in all it was worth every penny and more, and we would recommend it to anyone visiting the area. Thalyta was an absolute delight and the experience was magical. Bruna was very friendly and welcoming to our group. She started with a great introduction to some core historic references in Valletta as we walked around the city and then we headed to a restaurant to try a local aperitif and some Maltese food. Afterwards we headed for some dessert. Bruna shared her experience and stories of living in Malta, which made the tour feel personable. Wonderful host - great city intro
