We did our tour with André the first night we arrived in Lisbon. It was a wonderful introduction to local food in the city. He was also knowledgeable about Portugal’s history so was able to sprinkle this in throughout. He took us to restaurants we never would have found on our own! And was great about giving feedback on what else we should do (or shouldn’t waste our time on) for the rest of our trip. We had an amazing evening with Andrè, who went above and beyond to ensure we had an unforgettable experience. He is so knowledgeable, kind, interesting, and fun! We learned a lot about Portuguese history and culture, all while enjoying delicious bites from one of Andre’s favorite local restaurants. We enjoyed traditional sausage cooked at the table, gorgeous olives and cheeses, breads, and other classic, regional delicacies. We drank local wine, loved dining on the beautiful patio and listening to traditional singing from fellow patrons, and generally felt wrapped in the joyful heart and soul of Portugal. Sharing an evening with André was one of the highlights of our entire trip. He accepted our last-minute booking, and upon learning I needed to eat gluten free (a tall order in Portugal), he went all the way across town to the one gluten-free bakery to ensure that I, too, could enjoy a traditional Portuguese dessert—a flaky pastry filled with custard. It was so thoughtful of him and emblematic of the type of care he puts into every guest’s experience. We had André as our tour guide. It was very fun and we got to see popular streets of Lisbon, learned a lot of history. Tried very delicious wine and seafood. Portugal has left us very impressed with its culture and friendliness from everyone. We took a ferry to Cacilhas at night time and it was wonderful! Our walking tour with Andre was perfect for us! He gave us a great introduction to Lisbon, showing us the neighborhoods and hidden gems we would never have known about had we relied on a guide book. He recommended restaurants and things to do (and also what was not worth it which we appreciated as we only have a few days in the city). He has so much knowledge of history of the city, of Portugal, of tile making, of the buildings, and provided context for what we were seeing. Overall an amazing tour, I would book another tour with Andre in a flash if we were here for longer! Amazong Tour!

After spending three hours on a walking tour with Andre, it’s hard to find the right words to capture just how amazing the experience was. Andre is not only deeply knowledgeable about the history of Lisbon, but his passion and enthusiasm for the city truly shine through in every story he tells. He showed us not only the popular landmarks but also lesser-known sites that are deeply significant to the history of both Lisbon and Portugal. His ability to present historical events with such a balanced and insightful perspective added an extra layer of depth to the experience. From visiting the city’s best Pastel de Nata shop, where he explained the origins of this iconic pastry, to revealing the hidden symbolism behind an unassuming tile on the side of a shop, it felt like we were experiencing the most authentic side of Lisbon. Super fun and interesting tour with André who met us in the morning, asked some questions, and curated an amazing experience for us! The 3H tour was filled with fun facts and information about the history and sights as we walked through the neighborhoods. André is super smart and charming and the entire experience is delightful. It felt very special and well worth the money. I asked about the various ways people get up and down the hills and he made sure to show us the elevators, trams, funiculars, escalators, and staircases. We had the most excellent experience with André as our guide. We, family with 3 teenagers, did a very relaxed city tour. André was very knowledgeable, and not only mentioning names and numbers, but he made really nice stories and surprised us with fun facts. This was very entertaining to all of us. Two days after the tour he helped us out when another tour was canceled. Without any benefit for himself, he managed to get us last minute of an alternative tour, that turned out great as wel. Andre' was an excellent host. His knowledge and passion for Portugal was infectious, keeping is interested every step of the way. We loved that this wasn't a soul less tour, rather it was full of little stories and legends that brought the city to life's his attention to detail was wonderful to experience but more importantly the way Andre' interacted with the kids made the tour so much easier to do. We've done a fair share of Withlocals experiences with our family, but this one with André is truly at the top of our list. Before the trip we have been chatting about what to do, what not to do, how to keep it fun for kids and manage the hot weather. Without having a super specific itinerary beforehand, André really delivered! The experience was packed with great stories, fun challenges and some truly hidden gems. During the experience André was really flexible in adding some unexpected stops on our request when we wanted to go off script. His knowledge of Lisbon and its history is second to none. Not like a walking Wikipedia, but all in the form of stories and challenges like spotting the "wrong" tile on a building's façade. When our kids got upgraded from the title of "assistant" to "super mignons", because they spotted the wrong tile very quickly, it was received as the highest honours by them. Our advice: book a tour with André, talk about the things you're interested in beforehand and let him take care of a fantastic experience. You won't be disappointed!Unforgettable and fantastic experience!

We took a tour with André and he was wonderful! He had a group of 7 with 3 small children and a handicapped family member. Aside from just one section with some stairs, he was able to make the entire tour wheelchair and stroller accessible for us. We were so afraid we wouldn’t be able to do a walking tour of Lisbon, and André made it possible. He was very knowledgeable and you could see his passion for the history of the country and city. He recommended some fantastic restaurants for us to try for lunch and dinner as well. He was also great about keeping in touch and answering questions for us while we were still in Lisbon. André was an incredible guide. I selected him based on positive reviews, and they were not wrong. He was very personable, hospitable and knowledgeable about the history of the city. He took us to many “hidden gems” in town. I am on a trip with my sisters, and we can get a bit boisterous & André was a good sport and just made the entire tour lots of fun, sprinkling in history and telling us about local culture while we enjoyed our food and drink — which he also selected, and did not miss! We have never done a tour with Withlocals before so maybe expectations were too high. We were redirected to 6 guides before the final one was settled on which was strange. The food and wine were very, very small portions - you would need to eat before or after this tour. The walk around was interesting.Hmmm

If you’re heading to Lisbon, you need to take this tour and you need to do it with André! We had just landed in Portugal a few hours earlier on a red eye flight from the U.S. and we wanted to keep moving as much as we could on that first day. André was the best guide we could have asked for! He was professional and courteous from the time we met until we took a selfie and parted ways a few hours later. By the end we felt like family! The food & drink were the point of the tour, but as an added bonus André shared so much knowledge about the country’s rich history as we strolled through Lisbon. From local meats and cheeses (that buttery cheese tho 🤤), bifana, pasteis de nata, ginjinha, and everything in between, we were exposed to so much of the local fare the city has to offer. André gave solid advice on what to do and where to go during our stay, and after the tour he also shared a detailed summary of where we went and what we ate at each stop (we went back to several of the places for more on our own!). He gave us confidence to dig deeper into the local scene than we might have otherwise done as tourists. If I could rate it an 11, I would!Chris

We had a lot of fun exploring food in Lisbon with Andre'. We didn't recognize him at first because he has shaved his beard and looks nothing like his profile pic shown here. However, he was very charming and had lots of info to share on this tour. We started by entering into a truly breathtakingly pretty building that we would NEVER have found on our own, with blue tiles, Arabic patterned trim, Victorian inlaid woodwork, and gorgeous stained glass. We went to a little outdoor patio, surrounded by olive trees, where we tried Portuguese cheeses, chickpea salad, prosciutto, olives, and wine. We moved on to a different cafe to try bifana, francesinha, and Portuguese beer. Since several of us weren't beer drinkers, Andre found us green wine, which was delicious and we ordered it again several times on our trip. We moved on and had pastels de nata, and ended up at the waterfront having ginjinha in chocolate cups. All throughout, Andre shared lots of history and interesting tidbits about the city. He knows a lot about the freemasons, who have a rich history in Lisbon. He also sent a list of recommendations of other places for us to try while on our trip. Overall, we had a lot of fun and discovered new, delicious foods. I would recommend this tour and Andre'. Terrific and Tasty
