The entire family (kids 7 and 11) enjoyed the tour of Chinatown with Moddy. She was very knowledgeable and flexible. She made the tour interesting for both kids and adults and shared a lot of tips and insights so that we were able to enjoy Chinatown and the different food outlets there on our own the day after the tour. I had a private tour and got stuck in traffic and she guided me to the best spot to meet and accommodated me! Then, the tour was so informative, and beyond just sharing history. She shared about tips for the city, navigating the area and trains. She also pointed out places to go once the tour was over. She is also such a lovely woman, very smart and funny and relatable. Moddy did a great job touring us around Chinatown. She is very knowledgeable and a good communicator, explaining so much. We learned a lot about many different aspects of both Thai and Chinese cultures. The temple visits were very informative and actually allowed us to participate in a merit offering practice. Touring the markets allowed us to not only purchase some small items but to also learn about so many of the unique food items. We recommend her tour highly. Just a great tour!

Moddy was a phenomenal guide. Prior to the tour, she was quick to respond and catered a very robust custom tour schedule for my friends and I. Throughout the day, Moddy was a wealth of information, often providing answers to questions we were already thinking about. Moddy’s passion for her Thai culture was evident during her tour! During the tour Moddy even pivoted to allow some time for us to grab snacks at the local market and step to an indoor textile museum to cool off for a bit. Moddy was a joy to have as a guide and I recommend her to anyone looking. Bubbly, informative and funny!

Since making my booking Moddy kept me up to date with where we'd be going, what to see, the significance and history of the sites. Her enthusiam is certainly catching and her knowledge very impressive. She was great company and able to answer any questions I had, really knew what she was talking about and added a touch of humour with her infectious laugh! Moddy was the best tour guide a solo traveler (or anyone) could ever ask for. Not only is she incredibly knowledgable, she was very kind, thoughtful and helpful. As soon as I was interested in a solo tour, I first contacted Moddy via WithLocals. My priority was to see Wats and to receive a blessing from a Buddhist Monk. She provided me with the proper information to help guide my decision. As soon as I received her friendly description of what my personalized tour would be, I booked it immediately on the website to secure my time with Moddy. Because I was far from the meeting area, Moddy arranged to meet me at my local train station. My train station was 1.5 hours away from where she lived. This in itself showed me Moddy's dedication and care to ensure my personalized tour would be a positive experience. She then showed me how to use the transit system, we even took a boat down a canal! It was very exciting. Throughout the tour, she explained to me the history of Buddhism and the Kingdom of Thailand. I learned so much. Moddy is a Historian who had answers to my many questions and took the time to take my photo during key moments of the trip. During the Wat visits, she ensured that I received my Blessing from the resident Monk as well as guided me through Buddha principles, respect and prayer practices. She led me through a meditation and offered me encouragement to continue meditation practice. We also spent a lot of time walking and hiking staircases, the unexpected exercise was a welcomed bonus for me. I truly enjoyed my time educationally, emotionally and physically with Moddy. Afterwards, we had a lovely lunch where she took me to a local, family owned (Michelin starred) restaurant. The cost was very inexpensive and the food was fantastically delicious. If you ever need a tour in Bangkok, Moddy is the woman to take you. She is a 10 out of 10. I am lucky and grateful to have had her be my guide. Moddy was an excellent, knowledgeable, friendly guide, who showed us temples, Chinatown markets and street food... we saw and heard so much in 5 hours! We had a fantastic time, she was patient, explained so much about Buddhism, the history of the kings of Thailand, and how the markets work. She also told us useful things like how to navigate the traffic and find "clean" street food, as well as which places had Western style toilets 😅. Moddy was a revelation -: of professionalism, enthusiasm, energy, customer orientation, flexibilty. We had only 1 day to spend in Bangkok. At 9am sharp, pickup at Hotel. We had a (all included) minivan + driver at our disposal all day. 1 stop: Emerald Buddha Temple, Grand Palace. Comprehensive introduction from Moddy into the Ramakien of Phra Rama. 2. stop: Khlong Lat Mayom Floating Market: wonderful and delicious (never mind James Bond and 'Man with a Golden Gun' absent). 3. Canal Tour (a must!), 4. Wat Pho, 5. Eagle Nest Roof top bar to end tour with a laaarge beer. 6. Drop off at airport. Advice: do not try that without Moddy: you would miss half of the impressions and almost all of the fun. We are very grateful to have met Moddy. We hope for another opportunity.Simply the Best!

I had a private tour with Moddy and truly enjoyed the time spent with her. She is very professional, knowledgeable and caring. While she is focused and eager to share her extraordinary culture, she is also flexible and attentive to her guest preferences. She has the gift to link past and present cultures without being overwhelming. I am most grateful to Moddy! Now I need to share a feedback about the value for money, for this price (154 US for 3 hours knowgin the cost of life in Bangkok) it would be expected that AT LEAST, 'withlocals ' organizes a pick up, rather than lets the guest struggles to find transportation, I arrived the day before from another hemisphere and urban culture. I was not familiar whether with Grab apps, the transportation system etc. I did manage but in ALL the other places where I organized a private guide a pick was almost set. However this has nothing to do with Moddy who is exceptional.

We have just returned from our wonderful market street food tour with Moddy. Prior to the tour Moddy sent us all the details that we needed to meet up with her on WhatsApp. If you are new to Thailand it explains in detail about where to go and how to get there. We met with Moddy and the first thing we noticed was her infectious smile. She has to be one of the most uplifting, positive minded people that we have met. She welcomed us and explained what was about to transpire. Without giving too much away the food, clothing and gift market was excellent. Moddy whisked us around explaining all the variety of food and the it was up to us to choose our meals and drinks. There was so much variety it was hard to choose. Moddy made it so easy for us with letting us know her favourites and why. We then spent the next few hours eating and swapping stories. She is a fantastic host and an asset to the WithLocals company. She truly represents the open friendly nature of Thai people, it's food and its culture. She is knowledgeable and provided us with lots of local hints and tips for the remaining time on our holiday. We can't recommend Moddy highly enough. Anyone considering a tour with Moddy won't be disappointed. Wonderful food market tour

Our private couples tour of Bangkok took in the Grand Palace, Temples, a canal longboat tour, an tuk tuk ride, and a walk through Chinatown. We did a lot of walking and saw a lot of what we were keen to see. Moddy was very knowledgeable and answered our questions patiently and provided engaging historical accounts of each location. Her English was great and we had no trouble at all understanding her. She also gave us great tips on how to use the local sky train and underground trains, and shopping malls with good food courts. We put this advice to good use and felt confident using the local trains on our own. Thanks so much Moddy. Moody speaks English well. Her knowledge of Buddhism was enlightening and we very much enjoyed the experience of listening to the traditional Buddhist practice of chanting and talking with a monk afterwards. Moddy was a wonderful guide. We did temple tours with her, and she was so knowledgeable about Buddhism and the history of the temples. She also couldn’t have been more accommodating. We had a perfect tour with Moddy. We asked that the tour be modified a bit so we could have lunch and coffee as we toured. Moddy created an ideal tour for us touring some, having lunch in Chinatown, touring some more, then having coffee and finishing up at the reclining Buddha which was the highlight of our visit to Bangkok. Moddy is smart, energetic, and fun. We noticed other tourists struggling to figure out the metro, bathrooms, and best locations for photos: but with Moddy as our guide we had no struggles, only fun. Moddy took us on the most wonderful day trip to Kanchanburi. She was exceptionally professional, corresponding with us will in advance of the trip to understand our preferences and priorities. The day of she and our driver arrived with extra time to spare making sure that we had everything we needed prior to our departure. We did a number of activities off the beaten path, tailored to our traveling style; huge photography fans as well as small children who love interactive experiences. From buying food from locals and trying all of the fruits and tasty treats that the roadside stands had to offer to spending time and small local villages where we got to see a piece of everyday Thai life, we could not have been more happy. Moddy was an amazing guide! She is so friendly and upbeat. We were with her for the nighttime street food market tour our first night in Bangkok. I have a gluten allergy and she was so helpful in making sure I could eat safely. My daughter and husband are total foodies and Moddy was fantastic at making sure they tried so many authentic Thai foods. She also gave us lots of tips for navigating the city the rest of our visit.
