If you want to enhance your visit to Dublin (or just looking for something different to do), do yourself a favor and book a food tour with WithLocals! …specifically Mydie!! From the minute our group met her, we knew we’d enjoy her company. She’s got a terrific personality and was very entertaining with her stories of Irish history and legends. Let’s see if I can remember everything…3 different kinds of potato cakes (a little thicker than our potato pancakes) with a glass of hard cider, then a doughnut, then a good-size portion of smoked cod & chips (they had a sign outside listing all the celebrities who had eaten there), then Irish Guinness stew, then a falafel stuffed with mozzarella and finally the best ice cream we’ve ever had. With this said, if anyone in your group has special dietary needs, they are happy to work around it. We look forward to checking out WithLocals food tours in other cities we travel to in the future. we were supposed to visit the mountains in wicklow but we wanted to change that due to some circumstances. marius instead took us to bray, where our daughters could feed the swans and seagulls. it was wonderful to go there and experience the waterfront as well as the greenery of wicklow. marius was kind, good humoured, and informative with his tour! lovely trip!

Great tour! Just our party of 4 with our tour guide Mydie who was wonderful! We did a leisurely tour for 3 hours with lots of great food and lots of great history. A wonderful way to see the sights of Dublin and all the history behind it. We ended at a pub for a pint which was the perfect finish. Would highly recommend, thank you Mydie!Great private tour!!

Highly recommend this tour! My husband and I almost always do the 10 Tastings Tour when we first get to a new city, as we find it's a great way to get acclimated to the city. Our private food tour with Mydie was wonderful. She is personable and fun, and we felt like we were with an old friend. Walking around the city and going to several different food places on both the North and South sides of Dublin, was very interesting. We got to sample meat pies and cider, fish and chips, some very yummy fudge and chocolates and of course, to top it all off, delicious ice cream. It was a great day and we hated for it to end. This is extremely disappointing as I reserved this food walking tour in April and I arrived this morning in Ireland for the first time looking forward to this experience. Had I known this was a scam, I would have booked something through TripAdvisor but was hoping to support local. What a horrible let down. Waited for over 45 mins for an individual that never showed up and never communicated any alternatives. So far this company has been has been inattentive with regards to any follow through with a refund or explanation. What a scam and a horrible first day experience in Ireland. Scam

This was our first time using WithLocals. It was recommended to us by a co-worker who had a great experience in Isreal. This was also our first time booking private tours instead of sitting in the back of a tour bus! OMG! So much better and so worth it! We originally booked a day trip to the Cliffs of Mohr. However, communication with our tour guide, Marius, in the days prior to our arrival, we soon realized that, due to our cruise port, we would have spent 3 hours one-way in the car to see the epic cliffs and not much else. We were maily interested in seeing the beatiful scenery of Ireland. So, Maruis suggested (and created) a completely custom itinerary that crammed so many amazing places into our tour. I am so glad he suggested the alternative. We were at Powerscourt Gardens when they opened and literally had the enourmous space to ourselves. We spent time at Powerscourt Waterfall, Glendalough, Glenmackness Waterfall, Guinness Lake and picked wild blueberries in the Wiklow Mountains at the very bridge that was used in the film P.S. I Love You! Marius, thoughtfully emptied a small plastic tub of gum into a napkin so that we had something to put the blueberries in. And they were amazing on our pancakes the next morning on the ship! He took us to the Heather Wicklow Restaurant where we treated him to lunch (Best Corned Beef I've ever had). Maruis was so genuine and fun to be with that he became an instant friend that we hope to stay in contact with. We did 8 tours over the twelve days we were in the British Isles and our time with Maruis was hands-down one of our favorites! Nothing beats a private tour!

Marius was great. Very friendly. Very willing to adjust things for our likes. However it is a very very long drive to get to the Cliffs ( close to 4 hours) so once there you have very little time to see anything. With only 8 hours booked for this tour your actual time at the Cliffs is very short ( 45 minutes). The scenery along the way is quite beautiful there and back. And as I said Marius was wonderful If you have but one day to leave Dublin and see something more of Ireland ask Marius to recommend a different trip unless you are really set on seeing the Cliffs If you only have one day not worth it

There are two sides to this story. First, Mydie was a delight! As you will read below, she made this tour happen for us and we are grateful. She was knowledgeable about the general history of the country, that tied beautifully to the stories about the food. She made it feel like we were sharing food among friends. Thank you, Mydie for a great day with full bellies!!!! The first thing we look for when we travel is taking a food tour….highly recommend! We were very excited to add Dublin to our list. Booking months in advance, we were very disappointed that the tour was cancelled a few days in prior with no explanation. We had planned a lot of the trip around this. I went back to the website to see if anyone else was available. They were not. I decided to reach out directly to Mydie. She sowed she was available an hour earlier than our preferred time, but not our time. Being this was our arrival day, I did not have the flexibility to start earlier. She immediately responded to me and said she could make it happen! I was hesitant to try again, but we are so grateful we did. The experience with the tour company was bumpy, but Mydie (who had nothing to do with the scheduling issue) came through with a wonderful tour! An adventure across the Isle from Dublin in the East to the Cliffs of Moher in the West. The cliffs are dramatic, a nice walk along the coastal path above and also a tower to climb for better views. Scenic views on the return journey to Dublin visiting some ancient sites. We would say we spent more time in the car getting there and back than we had originally realised. At the last minute Marius was unable to make the day tour to the Cliffs of Moher but arranged for transport and a make-up historical walking tour of Dublin. All in all a creative solution to the unpredictable nature of travel. We were pleased to have that time with Marius as he promised to make us fall in love with Ireland. We had a lovely afternoon with Mydie. She gave us a little bit of Dublin history and took us to many wonderful places to eat. This was our first tour that we did in Ireland, and it was a perfect way to start our vacation.
