I found Withlocals online and took a chance that it might work out. I was rewarded. Our guide, KK Ang, was awesome. He took us on a historical journey from the early days of the area and explained how and why Singapore is what it is today. The places we saw were tremendous and we had ample time in each location. KK took us to several different religious sites, the CBD, waterfront and other areas of interest. These were fascinating and showed how diverse and tolerant Singapore is. A snack at the Hawkers Market was a real treat. If you like street food, this is the place to be! The tour ended with a view from 50 stories up overlooking it all. KK was in contact with us from the moment we booked and he took pains to let us know what we would be seeing. The tour also started from where we disembarked from our cruise and this seems to be something that is commonly done from many starting points. If you have limited time, this is a fabulous way to see the city. After extensive research, I booked this tour for my friend and his wife on their honeymoon trip. This is what they had to say: "We had a 22 hour intended layover in Singapore on the way to Maldives so we could see some of highlights of the city/country. We definitely saw the amazing highlights but were also introduced to so many other off the beaten path things, something only a true local with proficient knowledge of Singapore can share with you. Eliza customizes the tour on the go as per your desires and level of comfort. After 17 hours of flying from SFO (via HKG), we arrived at SIN around noon from where we took a taxi to our hotel. Freshened up and Eliza was in the lobby to whisk us away on our late afternoon private tour. We are always hungry so we definitely enjoyed various foods, treats and non-alcoholic drinks throughout the tour. Sugar cane juice is addicting! The sights were amazing and the attention to detail from Eliza was very impressive. Soon afterthe tour started, we realized that we can entrust her with leading the tour and pretty much turned off our brains and that was a bliss...something we haven't been able to do with non-proficient hosts in the past. She even took us to the SuperTrees and the amazing park surrounding it during the day and then again in the evening for a completely different outlook with the light and sound show. She knew where the best spots are to enjoy the sights and shows from. The routes she took avoided as much foot and car traffic as possible which anyone living in Singapore can tell you is a time killer. Hands down we wouldn't be able to see and experience Singapore like we did if Eliza wasn't there to host us in her magnificent nation/city. We asked for this tour because we wanted to learn more about the culture and history of Singapore. That is what Kenny was able to give us, a whole new view on chinatown and the history of it and how brave the Chinese were to come by boat to Singapore and really work hard to be able to get their families a better life, the role of the different inhabitants, the role of the English the role that opium played thru out this period. And then were Singapore is now the place were all religions life together with respect for each other. On top of this Kenny was an expert in plants and was able to explain us what it could to when you need it, all in all a very surprising tour that gave us a much better inside of Singapore. We had such a great time with Grayson! He’s super friendly, very thoughtful, and his English is excellent – he’s got such a rich vocabulary. What really stood out was that he didn’t just tell us about the dishes we tried, but also shared so much about life in Singapore and its different cultures. The food was amazing – every dish was tasty and the order they came in made perfect sense. Our top favorites were definitely the curry puffs, ondeh-ondeh, and the popiah. We have just finished a wonderful walking tour through Gardens of the Bay with Marcus and cannot express how happy and satisfied we felt after the tour. Grayson was superb. He was punctual, super informative, full of local information in addition to historical information of the 3 cultural centers. He also adjusted our visit based on what we wanted to do. For example, we passed a durian stand and I wanted my daughter to try it so we took a moment to sit down and enjoy some durian. I am sure that was not part of our walk but he was great about accomodating our wants. It was a hot day and Grayson was always mindful of asking us if we need drinks while we walk. Another reason why we really appreciated Grayson is that he brings his own stories to the visit. For example, for our snack in Little India, he explained to us how his family would buy the snack for him as a child. This tour was such a wonderful experience! Instead of the usual tourist spots, we got to see the real Singapore — where locals shop, how they live day-to-day, and even visit beautiful temples. I’d recommend doing this tour with Jon in the morning and early on in your time in Singapore: 1.its cooler 2. Jon takes you a number of places so great way to get your bearings 3. Jon explains how to use the MRT and get around and suggests other places to visit 4. You won’t need lunch lol Loved hearing all the cultural and historical insights form Jon so way more than just a food tour a real locals insight. The food tour ticked all our boxes of getting toa number of different hawker markets whilst removing all the guess work of where to go, how to get there, what to order and how to order it and associated etiquette as unsurprisingly in Singapore there are lots of rules for the unwary Jon was also just a really nice bloke. This was a treat for my wife’s birthday and as if by magic a sparkling candle appeared at our last stop Thanks Jon - we had a blastQuite literally a full morning

We have just spent a wonderful afternoon being shown around various locations and tasting some wonderful food along the way (don't eat before you go !!!). Marcus was a fantastic host and really knows his stuff! We learnt so much about the history and culture of Singapore which we would never have done just wandering around ourselves. It also gave us a good grounding of where everything is so will be able to go back to the places again.
