I booked this a few weeks ago and asked for a private guided tour of Athens. I didn’t save my email text request but wanted a tour of the acropolis and places where Paul preached. I apparently chose the wrong tour which I found out toward the end…the guide was nice & knowledgeable of the areas we were shown, but I would not have chosen this tour had I known what it did not include. I think that the tour should have made it clear that we were NOT seeing any of the acropolis or where Paul preached. It should be in bold red letters on the website. The price I paid was not worth the money for this tour. I was very disappointed. We ended up walking to the entrance and doing the acropolis tour on our own along with the spot where Paul preached. I’m not sure I will use this group again. “Highlights” of Athens

Our family of 5 had a terrific 3 hour walking tour with Ioannis. He was incredibly informative and kept our 21, 18 and 16 year olds entertained and engaged. He shared loads of inside information about the areas on our tour, sharing loads of information and pointing out great art galleries and rooftop bars that only locals would know about. A particular highlight was when we ventured into Anofiatika, the “island village” at the base of the Acropolis. Markella was a truly excellent guide for my wife, adult daughter and myself. She brought ancient Athens alive as well as recounting Athens recent and current history. During the tour we covered the main ancient sites (excluding the Acropolis, at our request). Markella was able to answer all our questions and gave us the basis to visit the sites at our leisure on the following days. Ioannis was the perfect guide. His initial greeting was gracious and welcoming. I had written to him before the tour to inform him that I required a slow pace and occasional rest stops. He crafted the perfect walking tour for these old bones. It was clear from his commentary that he loved his country and he loved showing it off to visitors. Ioanni was amazing!!!! We were SO happy we hired him for our morning tour through part of the center. Ioannis masterfully wove mythology, architecture, history, and cultural information all together. We had two teenagers with us and while history and mythology isn’t really their thing, ioannis included them and made it a bit more interactive. We loved his explanation of the Agora, our walk through Anafiotika (neighborhood of tiny homes at base of Acropolis in the Plaka), and our walk through various neighborhoods. So much info packed in a few hours!!!! Wonderful!

Overall the tour itself was just okay- a bit disappointing, actually. We were so excited about this tour and were really looking forward to the personalized and more intimate experience of hiring a tour guide from withlocals. I sent a message a month in advance to let our guide know a bit about us and our goals/interests for the tour and never heard back. I reached out again a couple days in advance through the website and finally heard back. However, when we were on the tour, it really didn’t seem like our guide read anything I wrote. The tour wasn’t personalized at all and honestly it lacked energy and enthusiasm. The time spent walking between locations was in silence whereas most tours I’ve been a part of the guide takes that time to tell stories or preface us with information for the next location we will be seeing. I will say, we definitely learned a lot about architecture and a little bit about the history of Athens and Athens’ occupiers which was so fascinating and I would have loved to learn more. I love history and hearing stories about past events, sadly, what history we did learn was spotty and disjointed which made it hard to put the pieces together. We enjoyed getting some lemonade near the foot of the Acropolis and hearing a bit more about our guide’s life and some details on modern Athens. I really don’t mean to be too harsh because our guide was a kind person but the tour wasn’t at all what we were expecting based on the descriptions on the website and the price.Athens Hidden Gems Tour

Ioannis was great! We had a personalized tour experience with him. He asked what we were doing afterwards, and we told him the Acropolis, so he designed our tour to end close the Acropolis. He also recommended a restaurant for lunch that had our favorite baklava of the trip! For our actual tour, he showed us around and gave us the history of all the ruins as well as a few secret bars/restaurants that had great ambience (one had a fantastic view). He answered all of our questions, taught us, and took pictures for us. We highly recommend Ioannis!Great guide!

Markella meet us on time and was very friendly. She was knowledgeable and proud to be an Athenian. Tour included information on ancient and modern Greece which was interesting. It was a private tour for two people. After finishing, we realised it was 30 min short and we didn’t get our local drink or snack. Tour was good but if you want to see the main tourist attractions it may be better to book a more conventional tour. Friendly knowledgeable guide

We loved our time with Evanthia. She was excellent at communicating with us before to arrange the meeting place. We asked to start 30 min later which she accommodated with no problem or complaint. We loved seeing all the interesting hidden gems of the city center, including the Public Garden and the meat and fish markets. We were grateful to stop for a coffee and rest for a few minutes. She gave good advice on places to go for meals etc. All in all, terrific experience. Terrific Guide- fun morning

Maxim war sehr sehr freundlich, zeigt Dir Plätze, die man so selbst in der Kürze der Zeit nicht entdecken würde.
