What a way to spend our first night in chiang mai . Uthaiwan is an exceptional guide and a beautiful soul . Khun Eddie suggested a food tour through a very local market in Lamphun (about an hour's drive from Chiang Mai city which we had to top-up the original cost ). It was a good suggestion and very interesting experience with the local sights, sounds. We managed to try a selection of food (about 7-8 types) throughout the day, some dishes are unlikely to be found in the city. Eddie also brought us to the Hari Phun Chai museum and a couple of temples. Given that it was a private tour, we were free to decide what and how long we wanted to spend at each location. Khun Eddie also gave us some good restaurant suggestions for when we returned to the city.Interesting experience food tour local mkt

It’s my first time booking on this site and everything went well. Our tour guide’s name was Ae and she was awesome. Not only was she very informative about the local area, but also good with kids. The food on the tour was amazing. It gave us a chance to try a bunch of local places without us having to try to find them ourselves. My daughter and I had an awesome time sampling the local foods in Chiang Mai. Not only was the food of the highest quality, it just kept coming we sampled 10 dishes of great foods. We did the 10 tastings food tour with Uthaiwan on the first day we landed in Chiang Mai, and would 110% recommend it! Uthaiwan is extremely knowledgeable about local foods, the history and regional nuances and we ate an amazing mix of dishes, many of which we returned during subsequent nights!! Uthaiwan was an excellent communicator, there was no language barrier which we really appreciated as tourists. She’s also the loveliest, sweetest person, and we had a ton of fun on the food tour! We felt like we were out with a friend on the town, learning about their favourite local things. Uthaiwan also helped us coordinate an experience in Bangkok in addition, and recommended a few local spots, going above and beyond to make our experience great. As a former full time traveller and travel writer, I’ve done a LOT of tours and met many guides. Ae, however, is in another league to most. We booked the tour last minute and yet it was so well organised, catered perfectly to our very difficult group of people (oldest 80, youngest 2!) and was so seamless! 1.5 hours after arriving in Chiang Mai our group of three met up with Uthaiwan for our ten tastings of Chiang Mai experience. What a fabulous time we had in Uthaiwan’s company for the evening. Wonderful experience with Naphat. She took us to local street food markets and ordered up our food. We would not have known what to choose but we now feel more confident trying local dishes as she explained what to look for. Not only did we try local food but Naphat showed us how to eat the food like a local by adding spices and vegetables from the table. Uthaiwan was a great tour guide, we really appreciated her knowledge of food, but also Thai culture. My husband and I enjoyed our morning, half-day 10 tastings tour with Naphat. From local food trucks to a market near her home, we were able to try a huge variety of foods, including Khao Soi, papaya salad, mango sticky rice, and a yellow curry with squid. We did two tours with Ae. The first one was a food tour around Chiang Mai and we had a ball. Ae is so knowledgeable and personable at the same time. She makes everything fun and we ate so much! The next tour we did with her was a bike ride through the countryside and we actually went through her hometown and because she knew I love coffee so much, she took us to her favorite coffee shop and then we went to the roaster to see how the coffee was roasted. she’s great at tailoring things and finding cool things for one to look at. And she always make sure we have enough to eat and drink! On the bike ride through the country, I was bitten by a dog which is a real fluke and she was quick to take out her first aid kit and put iodine on it and then we all went to the emergency room which was a great experience and she took care of everything. We can’t wait to return to Chiang Mai and when we do we will definitely use her again for any tour. Ae is the best guide no matter what tour

Sawitchaya was very welcoming and a font of knowledge. We began and ended the tour at a restaurant and tried specialties such as Koh Soi, massaman Curry and Tom Yum soup. At the first restaurant where we had Koh Soi, it was accompanied by tea salad which was one of the highlights of the day. We spent the middle part of the tour at a local market that was for "locals". The market was clean, well organized and huge. There were an amazing array of produce as well as semi prepared and ready to go foods. Our guide, Sawitchaya, did a terrific job of explaining all the spices, produce and other assorted ingredients and how they were used to create an amazing array of prepared and semi-prepared foods for sale. If you are vegetarian or vegan, do not book a daytime tour as the options are limited before the markets open in the evening. Our guide Naphat also seemed uncomfortable with the concept of vegetarian, so maybe better to pick a different guide. When you book, specify your dietary restrictions and make sure the host acknowledges them and triple confirm with them that they can accommodate - otherwise you may be disappointed. We really enjoyed our food tour with Tanya. She was really nice and easy-going, The food experience was really nice, with a variety of savory and sweet options to try. Tanya was incredibly generous with the food and we actually had to work hard not to over-eat. At the end, we were taken on a market tour which was the perfect end to a great tour, during which Tanya asked us to pick several "take away" snacks for later. The best part of the entire tour was learning about Northern Thai cuisine, which Tanya did expertly. May was exceptional as she navigated our dietary restrictions on this tour. She took us to a cool market where we tasted unique appetizers, fruits and drinks. This was followed by going 2 restaurants where she ordered unique Chiang Mai dishes and explained their ingredients and what made each of those unique. We ended our tour with desserts.
