We had the absolute pleasure of spending a morning with Agung, and it was an experience we will never forget. He picked us up from our villa at 4 am and brought us to the breathtaking Jatiluwih Rice Terrace just in time for sunrise. From there, he guided us on a scenic hike through the rice paddies, sharing his immense knowledge of the area with such clarity and warmth. His English is immaculate, and his explanations made us appreciate the history, culture, and beauty of Bali on a whole new level. After the hike, Agung brought us to Cata Vaca café, where we enjoyed a delicious breakfast overlooking the most stunning views of the rice terraces. On our way back, he even stopped at the colossal White Tree in Tua Village, which was simply awe-inspiring. We asked Putu to take us to an annual festival (Perang Pandan at Tenganan Pegringsingan Village) which another guide had told us about. Even though he had never been before and the drive was a bit long, he made it work perfectly. We arrived at the right time, after spending some time in a lovely coffee and honey farm. He had chilled water in his car for us, and even a sun hat. He took photos of us with locals in their festival costumes, and made sure we grabbed a good spot to watch the event. When I went to the bathroom, he even had tissues and disinfectant wipes for me. When I pointed at a game the locals were playing, he played a round to show us how it worked, and when I said the skewers from a street stall looked good, he ordered them for us, and they were absolutely delicious, spiced tuna saté, which I had never tasted, and which are now my favourite type of saté. We also appreciated hearing about Putu's countriside life, the flower farm business he started during COVID and his family. He gave us some very interesting information on the crops and farming in the island, the water administration system, and Hindu practices. Thank you, Putu, for everything. I Putu was the best guide! He picked us up on time and showed us the sights of Bali! He was so pleasant and fun! Very knowledgeable about everything Bali. His English was impeccable and so was his understanding of the language. The only drawback was the traffic!! It took hours to go just a few miles. Of course this was not his fault we just felt bad for him and all the driving. It made for a long day. BUT I would gladly spend the day with him again. This was such a wonderful experience. Budi is such a genuine, kind and cheerful person. Who gave us brilliant insights to life in Bali in particular food culture. Budi was always very happy tl answer any questions we had about what different foods were or just general questions about Bali life. We sampled so many different dishes each one more tasty than the next. My one bit of advice is pace yourself. If you come with someone share everything. We were two people and shared everything and still were extremely full by the end. We wandered around the market first so it was great to see where locals bought their fresh products before making these delicious meals we ate. Putu was a fantastic guide with so much knowledge to share about the culture of Denpasar. He led us through the entire tour with a warm smile and genuine enthusiasm. Hands down, one of the best days we had in Bali! Agung put together a personalized tour for us based on some sights I wanted to visit. The tour took us through some of the island’s most stunning temples and waterfalls, but what made it truly unforgettable was our guide himself, Agung. Spending time with him has been one big masterclass on the ins and outs of Bali. We enjoyed every single one of his stories and anecdotes with insights on the island's culture. He took our family to a jaw-dropping beach, to numerous temples, the lush Goa Raja waterfall, traditional Balinese salt farming and let us have a taste of the best babi guling. We hebben een hele fijne en interessante rondleiding gehad, I Putu Merta heeft echt de tijd voor ons genomen. Eén van ons is net ziek geweest (waarschijnlijk bali belly) en hij heeft hier rekening mee gehouden door alleen te gaan eten bij tentjes waar het eten goed verhit (geserveerd) werd en hij koos overal voor de meest verse producten. Hij spreekt goed Engels en we gingen niet enkel eten proeven maar I Putu Merta vertelde ons van alles over het land en de cultuur. Hij nam echt uitgebreid de tijd hiervoor en we kregen absoluut niet het idee dat het gehaast ging, we hebben ruim 3 uur rond gewandeld en hij vraagt geregeld of je nog iets wil, maar je krijgt al zo veel eten dat wij het knap zouden vinden als dit nodig is. Het eten was allemaal erg lekker, natuurlijk heb je je voorkeuren maar niets viel ons tegen. Als wij weer in Bali komen zouden we zo nog een tour van I Putu Merta willen, we kunnen dit dan ook aan een ieder aanbevelen, het bleek één van de leukste activiteiten tijdens onze hele reis.
