Ruby is a fantastic guide. She is easy to be around, speaks English well, passes along knowledge to make the city come to life, and has amazing tips and tricks that saved us time and discomfort. I won’t share any of these tips and tricks because those are part of what make it well worth it to do a tour with Ruby. Even after the tour was done we followed Ruby’s recommendations for a silk shop, restaurant, and spa and all were great. I would highly recommend Ruby to anyone considering booking a guide in Hanoi. And, I highly recommend anyone going to Hanoi book at least one day with a guide- it’ll make the city so much more accessible and easy to navigate for your entire time in Hanoi. We had a wonderful evening with Lien. She is fun and chose some lovely places to eat. I am vegan and my husband is an adventurous eater - Lien found top quality places so that both of us could eat well. We had a delicious green papaya salad, lots of very local Hanoi dishes and also doughnuts and Vietnamese coffee. Definitely don’t eat beforehand it was more than enough. Lien also gave us lots of tips about how to choose where to eat and what to avoid. An excellent start to our holiday. Thank you Lien. Despite being relatively expensive because there were only two of us, it was great value for money. Great food and really good company

I had a fascinating tour of Hanoi old quarter with Lien who knows every hidden gem of the city. Despite it being Tet with many places shut for the holiday Lien still found intriguing spots I’d never have found on my own and gave me all the background on them. My Hanoi visit was all the more memorable because of Lien. This is the second walking tour we did with Trang but this time food tour. Trang is an amazing guide with great English and such a warm friendly person. I had a few food places and cafes I wanted to go which Trang incorporated into our tour without any issues. She took us to some places I would not have gone otherwise and the food was so tasty. Being a Sydney based Withlocals tour guide I wanted to do a tour with another WL guide. Ngoc Ruby was a Vietnamese version of me. We had a fantastic tasting tour with Lien (family of four with 2 young teenagers). She took us to places we would have walked past and introduced us to food we wouldn’t have tried.
