We spent our second day in Lisbon with Ana Paula, and she was absolutely wonderful. Her deep local knowledge and strong community roots made the tour feel authentic and personal, giving us a true sense of Lisbon beyond the main tourist paths. She guided us through Alfama and beyond, sharing history with passion while leading us to hidden corners and stories we would never have discovered on our own. From breathtaking views at specific locations, each stop came alive through her storytelling. One of the highlights was visiting artisan shops and Cerâmica D’Alfama, a wonderful gallery run by two talented women artists. These stops gave us a deeper appreciation for Lisbon’s creative spirit and the people keeping its traditions and culture vibrant. Ana Paula’s warmth, connections, and insight gave us an experience rooted in the real Lisbon. Jorge was the perfect guide. Our interest in visiting a new place is to learn about the history and the culture of its people. NOT just visiting museums and churches (and every other tourist attraction seen in Instagram), but to see and understand some of the lessor-known but historically significant artifacts of past societies. We learned about the rich historical events that shaped modern day Lisbon / Portugal and got a great locals-only perspective of everyday life in Portugal from Jorge who has lived (along with his family) in the city his entire life. Our tour was customized to include some “must-see” landmarks, some off the beaten path local food options, and Lisbon-centric pottery, fragrances and apparel. Wir hatten eine traumhafte schöne Führung mit Luís! All die Informationen über Geschichte, Hintergründe, Entwicklung der Stadt und auch persönliche Erfahrungen der eigenen Familie wurden so kurzweilig und interessant rüber gebracht, dass es von Anfang bis Ende spannend blieb. Vorab schon gab es eine tolle Kommunikation, wo wir nach Wünschen und Ablauf gefragt wurden. Auch die Restaurant Tips unter Berücksichtigung der genannten Unverträglichkeiten waren Gold wert. Eine davon haben wir gleich nach Ende der Tour umgesetzt und wurden nicht enttäuscht. Man hat gemerkt, dass Luís sein Job Spaß macht. Uns wurde weitaus mehr geboten, als wir erwartet hatten. Sowohl inhaltlich, als auch zeitlich. 1000 Dank für diesen tollen Tag! Einfach perfekt!

I did my research and read up on all the many With Locals guides, determining David might be a most accommodating, experienced and intelligent host, and yes, he definitely was, kept our active, love-to-walk group of four adults on a wonderful route, engaging us both by expertly framing our stops/time (and teaching us most helpful navigation hacks) and responding to our ideas/questions and needs. In brief: we wanted city/neighborhood history AND corresponding visual and culinary stops, so he made time for views and both a sweet treat and a most delightful lunch. We truly did not know or cared if our time would end as the day spent with David felt more like being with a college friend you knew lived in Lisbon touring with you than a newly-met friend! We had a lovely time being guided by Veerle through Lisbon. She will tell you a lot about the past and present - adjusted to the subjects you want to know more about. I do think it’s expensive but it was worth it for me because it was in Dutch which was easier to understand for my kid. Veerle is very knowledgeable.

We booked Marta on the day we arrived in Lisbon and selected a 6 pm start time when the day’s high temps began to cool down. She tailored our nearly 3 hour tour to our interests (history, neighborhoods, tile and places to eat. I know: isn’t that what everyone wants? But Marta asked questions to curate our walking tour while also ensuring we saw the highlights. Having been allocated two guides , Marisa was finally allocated to us. I must say we could not have had a better guide than the wonderful Marisa who quickly became our friend! We gave one or two hints of what we were interested in and left the rest to her.She showed us all the sights we had been looking for and more. She even had an uncanny knack of producing trams just when we wanted them. Her recommendation for restaurants was first class and we had a great meal that night. Andre was so accommodating. My husband got food poisoning the day of the tour and he was more than happy to switch to another day, even though he had come all the way from Sintra, which we felt terrible about. Throughout the tour, Andre was incredibly knowledgeable and enthusiastic. He is a passionate history buff and had insights we wouldn't have known otherwise. We had also asked him to take us around to neighborhoods he would recommend if we moved to Lisbon and even show us how to take the subway. Jorge, is such a friendly, enthusiastic, knowledgeable guide! From the moment I booked a trip for our group of 22 people he was helpful in all ways. Telling us which are was good, if the restaurants I picked where nice not a question was to much! The trip it self was great with lots of information about the beautiful city of Lisbon.
