Our family has travelled a fair amount, and used many guides in many cities. Maria is literally the best guide we have ever had. She has guided us on multiple trips to Madrid, and we have sent friends to her as well. She is very knowledgeable on the history, art, and culture of Spain and especially Madrid. She is also an attentive guide paying attention to the needs of our various elderly and young family members and making adjustments (bathroom, snack, break…) as needed. Great fall afternoon with Carmen on a walking tour of Madrid! Really interesting tour of the palace (outside) and palace cathedral then around the old town. While we are flying to Madrid from San Sebastián, we noticed that Madrid was going to be around 95-100 F during our scheduled tour time. We contacted Eva early in the morning and she responded quickly and was able to change the time so that we can walk around during a cooler window of time. We also only had the afternoon in Madrid as we had a flight early next morning. Eva has a lot of positive energy which we needed as our family was tired and it was hot. Eva had a good fund of knowledge and able to show us both some of the must see (royal palace, cathedral and Mercat San Miguel) to some of the local spots that people would not have known. I would suggest that if one would choose Eva, one should ask questions. I think that she is is relatively familiar with the sites that she takes you on, but to get the most out of the tour, it is best to ask questions as well. Ambulating Through Madrid

Edgard was a wonderful guide. We specifically asked to tour Retiro Park and he went above and beyond. He met us at our hotel and walked us through the neighborhoods explaining the history behind each neighborhood until we reached the park. We wondered through the park and then back to Plaza Mayor with Edgard pointing out wonderful information as we went. Edgard led my BF and me on a special walking tour of Madrid in April. On a personal level, he is delightful, personable and inquisitive. On a professional level, he has deep knowledge of the most significant historical and architectural gems in the city. His approach is "professorial" in style, but not pedantic. His command of the English language (and several others) is quite remarkable, and his enthusiasm for Madrid is contagious. Edgard was very punctual and well prepared. I had asked for some special stops and route choices which he accommodated very well. At every stop, including places we just expressed interest in, he had an interesting bit of history or anecdote. He took us into off-the-road places of interest we would have missed on our own, and gave us great recommendations for music and food. The tour guide knew next to nothing about where we were visiting. Indeed, she got lost for an hour wandering around aimlessly. I knew more about Toledo than she did She also was very unprofessional bringing one of her kids along. It was like a family excursion to see Toledo which they knew nothing about and I was paying for it. It got so bad I told her to leave me and my girlfriend and we would just get back to Madrid on our own. All of this is part of the bigger problem with WithLocals. The guides are inexperienced, unknowledgeable and unprofessional. They also are unlicensed. They take your money and pretend to know what they are doing. I’m never using them again!!! DO NOT USE WITHLOCALS - IT IS FRAUD
