Naguib is a graduate student, and he provided a wonderful tour of the Au Panier district. He also took us to Basilica of Notre-Dame-of-la-Garde and gave us a small taste of the more commercial part of Marseille. He spent much more time with us than he was obligated. In Au Panier, the restaurant and food establishment owners/staff were all very happy to see him. and the food in every place was outstanding. Definitely use Naguib if you want to get a great feel for the old Marseille.Passionate About Au Panier

Followup to Naguib’s comments: Naguib, I ‘m sorry you disagree with my review, but the facts are the facts. You should NEVER change the nature of the tour without asking or talking to the clients. We knew exactly what we signed up for. The following week on a group tour, I walked from the bottom of Sacre Cour to the top. Additionally you made up various excuses for the change. You NEVER cancel a tour, (for any reason) , without contacting the clients and telling them. I’m glad others had good experiences with you, but I was rating OUR experience, not theirs. My friends and I had a wonderful time with Iseult! I definitely recommend her, especially if you have a group of younger adults. We are young travelers, and Iseult catered the tour to go to places and shops younger people would like while still experiencing the culture of the city. She is very fun to be around and also knowledgable about the city! I'd especially like to recommend her because she gave us advice on how to stay safe in the city. My friends and I are young and inexperienced travelers so we try to be extra careful, and had heard to be wary of Marseille at night. Let me say first we arrived 45 minutes late bc we came from a cruise ship, Iseult was patient with us while we found the meet up location and didn’t want us to stress over making her wait. We enjoyed a wonderful walking tour of Marseilles with Iseult. She showed us the old city and we learned so much about the history of this beautiful city. We sampled some local dishes including mussels, cheeses, bread and of course patisserie and ice cream. Iseult tailored the tastings to our tastes and everything was delicious. It was a very hot day and Iseult was very thoughtful in choosing a route that afforded us the most shade on our walk. Every stop was an easy walk from the centre of the city. This was an absolutely wonderful tour. Not only did we try some amazing food, but Naguib was very knowledgeable about the city itself. It was nice to listen to the rich revolutionary history of Marseille while we walked and ate. We had no idea about the rich history of this lovely city. I only wish it hadn't been such a sweltering hot day so that we could have enjoyed being outside even more, but that cannot be helped. Started at the Mucem and Fort complex and continued around the city and its highlights and ending at a spectacular restaurant that she recommended around the Old Port. The first time we decided to take a private local guide. First of all, very expensive! Paid in advance and then the guide didn't show up. We waited half an hour, left several messages because we only received a voicemail. We hope we get a refund because it was quite a search on the site to file a complaint. Computer Q&A couldn't help us. Then you can ultimately file a complaint with the host itself. We received a message from the site last night with an apology and that they will refund us anyway. Hopefully the money will be back in our account soon. I think that in the future I will be a guide myself, as I have been preparing a city trip for years. The trust is gone in one go! Too bad if you only have 1 day in Marseille.00000 He didn’t show up!

While Miriam is a sweet young lady, she has no business holding herself out as a tour guide. She had no (and I mean NO) knowledge of any of the history of the various site she showed us--for example, when I asked for the history of the construction of the Cathedral, she had to look it up on her i-phone and all she could say was the it was completed in______. She terribly nice and has good english skills but she need to learn Marseille history before she holds herself out as a guide for Marseille. She did admit, after we paid and started the tour, that she had "just started" guiding.

We had a wonderful tour of old and new Marseille in Spanish with Iseult, wandering from breathtaking views to carhedrals to hidden gems in the old streets. Iseult was very knowledgeable about history and art and answered all our questions with enormous patience.
