Our guide was very kind and it was fun to spend time with a local, but unfortunately the tour itself fell short. It lacked a cohesive storyline and felt more like a random fact dump than a guided experience. Her English was limited, which made it harder to follow, and there wasn’t a clear narrative thread tying the tour together. Porto is a gorgeous city and we loved walking around, but I wouldn’t recommend this guide. The tour ended with us asking for a spot to enjoy fried sardines — instead of pointing us to a hidden local gem, she led us to the crowded tourist wharf with mediocre food. We left quickly and luckily found a spectacular place on our own.

We had the pleasure of spending half a day in Porto with Helena as our guide, and she was absolutely fantastic. From the moment we met her, Helena’s warmth and enthusiasm made us feel welcome. Three of us took a morning tour with Helena who knows Porto well and is steeped in its history and architecture. We paused at well known sites to understand their history and significance and discovered lovely vistas and hidden views of the city. The tour covered a lot of ground at a gentle pace with Helena providing a constant stream of interesting facts and legends. She also has some great historical photos of Porto which really helped us to understand the history. Finished with an excellent lunch recommendation!History, culture and secret viewpoints

The tour with Maria made our visit to Porto very special. It was so nice to avoid the generalised museum, church and art gallery visits that so often come with a city tour, and to hear about real life growing up and living in the city. The stop offs to try local food specialities, particularly the fish market, were great, but the wine and cheese tasting (our favourite things!) was the highlight. And to talk to someone so knowledgeable about their subject, but to feel like you are just chatting with a friend, was very comfortable and relaxing. A definite 10/10.

We booked Carlos last minute and he made our morning. The day we arrived in Porto the city was very crowded and we could barely walk down the street. Carlos took us on a 3 hour walking talking, showing us side streets and areas we would not have gone to otherwise. He was excellent and would definitely recommend. After the tour he texted us suggestions for restaurants and other sights to see in Portuga. Excellent guide to porto.

Helena is definitely very knowledgeable, however, the way the facts were presented were not very interesting to half of our group. My 10 year old, who has been on other tours (and was engaged in those) kept asking when the tour will end. Theresa met me at my hotel & we set off to see the sights & buildings I had expressed an interest in. Theresa was good company and knowledgeable. During her guided walk she gave a concise account of the history - I complemented her on her ability to make her talk relevant & to the point. She knew that I had wanted to use her tour as a familiarising myself with Porto walk. She achieved her aim as today I set off myself to explore & as a result of her guided walk yesterday I found my way around At the end of our walk along the river She kindly walked me to The Funicular so that I could make my way back to my hotel without having to walk uphill. Carlos exceeded our expectations for the city walking tour. We went to every place on my list and he shared so many insights and fun facts with a sense of humor: Sao Bento train station, Porto cathedral, the Tile Bank, best Pastel da nata bakery, McDonalds inside an original beautiful old building, best high view across the river and many many more.
