We came into Porto on an Oceania cruise ship. We arrived at 9am so, we could not take full advantage of the 8 hour private tour. Gustavo picked us up at 930am in his pristinely clean Mercedes station wagon. We needed to be back on board by 530pm but needed to be a bit conservative since it wasn’t a ship sponsored tour. We arrived back at 440pm. Once picked up, we headed straight to the Douro Valley. Gustavo knew all the best vista points and brought us to them. We had a wonderful lunch and wine at Sandman, one of the finest port producers in Portugal. We had to skip the boat ride on the Douro River so that we could do most everything else. After lunch, we told Gustavo that we would rather tour around, looking for the best Vistas versus going to the wine tasting. We thoroughly enjoyed our choice. The excursion was fabulous and we’re thrilled that we got to witness the Douro Valley & Douro Valley. It was a high quality tour put on by a native of the area. The only reason I can’t give it a 10 for value is that we had to pay for some things we didn’t do. This said, we knew about all of this in advance of the tour.

We absolutely loved Gustavo. My husband and I are in our early 30s and with so many tour guide options it was hard to choose based on a few reviews and bios. But rolled the dice and we couldn't have felt luckier. Gustavo knows so much about his country and the wine and food. He's very genuine and a fun person, never felt like conversations were forced. The restaurant in Douro was incredible. He took care of us so well. So don't hesitate just book him.

Anselmo is the best private guide we’ve ever had. He is extremely competent and organized, and at the same time easy going and fun. I’d trust him with everything, he’d choose the best options available. I’d definitely try to engage him again on our next visit to Porto.
