Hi, I'm Ângelo.

I was born in Lisbon but due professional reasons with one foot in other cities.

I'm a sports psychologist, but in 2010 I crossed paths with tourism and it became a passion.

Lisbon captivates me every day: The unique light, the incredible viewpoints, the fusion of cultures and the vibrant energy. I love its history, local culture and it's people.

Another passion? Food! I'm a true foodie and I believe that the best way to get to know a culture is at a table, tasting authentic dishes and sharing stories.

I'm a curious person, a world traveler, a dedicated host and I love welcoming you and revealing little secrets that only locals know.

We booked our food tour for our arrival day in Lisbon. Ângelo was very enthusiastic and brought our small group to some great locations and restaurants. We tasted several famous Portuguese dishes and snacks while Ângelo provided us with a historical background at each stop. We highly recommend Ângelo as your tour guide. Our new friend Angelo took us on a spectacular and expressive Food Tasting Tour then again for Highlights and Hidden Gems another day. Both were spectacular and enjoyable and historically informative I even had tears in my eyes a few times. Both of our tours lasted well beyond the 3 hours we paid for. The knowledge of the spices and tastings from each country around the world and why they immigrated to Portugal that contributed to each bite was impressive. Also the history of Portugal’s earthquake and the falling of Portugal’s Dictatorship and the story between the history of the tiled buildings was so absolutely amazing and all the hidden places that other tourists will not see. We toured thru the area of Alfama also. My husband and I fully agree that both tours were the highlights of our visit to Lisbon. This is the first time we’ve done a Withlocals food tour and so we didn’t know what to expect. Ângelo was a fantastic guide. Friendly and easygoing, he immediately charmed us and put us at ease. He went above and beyond to provide us with details of the history, geography, and culture of Lisbon. We learned, saw, and tasted so much on our tour! All of the stops were at local shops and restaurants and the food at every one was a standout. Everything was excellent and by the time we were done, we felt like we’d had a large complete meal. Ângelo was knowledgeable of the city, considerate of our needs, and generous with his time. He even took the time later that day to send me a summary of our tour as well as a number of recommendations of other local shops and stores to try. Over a week later, he was kind enough to check in with us on the day of the Lisbon Funicular accident. An excellent guide and a genuinely kind and warm human being. This is really 3-4 tours in one! Angelo has carefully curated a selection of stops that not only deliver delicious (and plentiful!) food but have also been chosen to provide a complete historical and cultural perspective of Lisbon PLUS also providing an excellent geographical orientation. We have taken dozens of food tours over the years and this would rank in the top one or two and I would 100% recommend this tour to friends traveling to Lisbon. What a wonderful start to our first trip to Lisbon! Angelo met us at our hotel and took us on a winding tour of Lisbon including all the Portugese favourites, as well as providing fascinating insight into the history of Lisbon and its food culture. I'm not sure what was my highlight - the saltcod croquetas or the pasta de nata. My two sons rated the bifana the highest and we all got a glow from the Ginjinha shot! I'd definitely recommend Angelo to accompany you and set you up for the rest of your trip. I will be coming back to Lisboa!Wonderful introduction to beautiful Lisbon

Our food tour with Angelo in Lisbon was truly exceptional. From start to finish, he went far above and beyond to make the experience memorable. We had the absolute pleasure of doing a food tour with Ângelo in Lisbon, and it was truly one of the highlights of our trip. From the start, he went out of his way—calling ahead to make sure every restaurant was ready for us and even stretching the tour well beyond the scheduled time. His food choices were spot on: a perfect mix of traditional flavors and hidden gems we would never have found on our own. What made it even more special was how seamlessly he wove in the history of Portugal and its cuisine, turning every bite into a story. Ângelo was also incredibly thoughtful—whether it was finding shady paths on a hot afternoon or making sure we felt comfortable at every stop. He wrapped it all up by giving us a long list of excellent recommendations for the rest of our stay (sadly, too many for the time we had, which is the perfect excuse to come back!). We recently had the absolute pleasure of taking a Withlocals food and wine tour through Lisbon with Angelo Andre, and it exceeded all expectations from start to finish. We met Angelo at the beautiful Miradouro de São Pedro de Alcântara, right by the fountain, where he greeted us warmly and gave us a fascinating and thorough history of Lisbon. His passion for the city and its culture was immediately clear. Our first tasting was the iconic pastel de nata at Fábrica da Nata. Here, Angelo explained the pastry’s deep connection to convents and nuns, its history, and the special ingredients that make it so delicious. From there, we tried the famous Ginjinha (cherry liqueur) at A Ginjinha Sem Rival, which was as authentic as it gets. Next, we visited Maria Palato for an exceptional wine tasting paired with charcuterie. The owner herself poured the wines, sharing the history behind both the food and the wine, making it an unforgettable stop. Angelo then treated us to an incredible pork sandwich at Bifanas du Afonso—the kind of simple perfection you dream about after leaving Lisbon. Our journey continued into a multicultural neighborhood, where we enjoyed a deep-fried pork and chicken pastry topped with the flavorful PDP sauce—something truly unique. We ended our tour at Menina Sardinha with delicious cod croquettes, tomato rice, and crisp vinho verde wine—a perfect finale. What made this tour truly special was Angelo’s personal relationships with each of the restaurant owners. At every stop, the food was prepared in advance and ready for us, making the experience seamless and welcoming. Our scheduled 3-hour tour stretched into 5 wonderful hours, with Angelo generously sharing his time, knowledge, and love for Lisbon. After the tour, he even sent us a list of recommendations for restaurants and places to explore during the rest of our stay. I can’t recommend Angelo highly enough—not only to anyone booking through Withlocals, but to my closest friends and family. His knowledge, warmth, and genuine care for his guests made this the highlight of our time inAn Afternoon With Angelo
