In the interim after exchange years, endless years at university and as history teacher in Vancouver as well as here, my passion for telling my story as a child of PET, the Cold War, the optimistic 90s and beyond will ensure your trip to Berlin takes on an unforgettable dimension.

Where to start! From the start we hit it off. Boyd generously allowed us to deviate from the named tour and concentrated on our preferred interests I.e. East vs West. His knowledge was exceptional , his attention to detail was so much appreciated. He had comprehensive answers for all our questions and challenged us by asking us questions in return. If looking for a guide who can knowledgeably deviate from the normal tourist spiel then Boyd is your man. Highly recommended .Highlight of our Betlin trip

We really enjoyed our experience with him. He incorporated more general facts about Berlin like I asked and he spent almost 4 hours with us. He's super knowledgable and I learned so much about where I live in Mitte, would love to go other places in Berlin with him too. Great Experience, would book again

We had an amazing tour with Boyd - he is incredibly knowledgeable and has such an engaging style to explain so many aspects of the history and the present in Berlin. Our sons (11 and 14) were completely engaged by the tour, and we all learned so much!Fantastic in every way!

Boyd is the absolute best !! He took us around Berlin, sharing facts and stories that we would have never heard elsewhere. He customized the tour to things we were interested in, and along the way he even made a pit stop for one of Sammy’s fantastic berliners after we mentioned needing some coffee (get the plum Berliner it’s incredible!). We had truly enjoyed our day with Boyd. Myself and 12 year old son. He approached our curiosity on history with sense of artistic touch and step by step we where introduced history about of Europe, Germany and Berlin - zooming in with details but always with big picture in contrast. As well very much we appreciated discussing various views and perspectives on modern topics while cycling around parts of Berlin. For all who love to be with professional historian and gifted story teller with warm heart and at the same understanding for modern European evolvement in politics. Strongly recommend Boyd. Fantaric day!

I took the tour with Boyd with my three teenagers and we all had so much fun!! Boyd is super nice and makes history fun. He know a lot!! It was excellent. I think it would be better if the tour lasted 4 hours instead of 3 so that it would be more complete and we wouldn't rush at the end. Amazing experience!

Firstly, Boyd, unfortunately, was unable to make the tour but he contacted me a week before to explain the situation and that he had kindly rearranged the tour with Juan. Contacted Juan and he kindly arranged to pick us up at the agreed time, from our hotel. Juan was absolutely amazing, took his time explaining the amazing, complex and incredible history of Berlin from WW2 and how WW2 shaped the future of this city up until when the wall came down. The tour was 4 hours and we walked over 10km but take my word for it, it was truly amazing and the time flew by. What an amazing story and Juan told it perfectly. We came away from the tour amazed, enlightened and at times absolutely shocked at some of the wartime stories. If you ever go to Berlin, put this tour at the top of your list and if Juan is available, make sure you choose him. Martin & Nicola Amazing WW2 tour of Berling

We had an excellent tour of Berlin starting from our hotel in Alexanderplatz and ending at the Soviet war memorial Tiergarten. Boyd is extremely knowledgable with a warm personality and made the whole experience a pleasure. Thank you Boyd.Excellent Tour with Boyd

I can't recommend this tour enough, Boyd was informative and helpful. The tour was for 4 hours, the time passed very quickly. The tour covered WW2 and general history as we walked around the city. During the rest of our stay in Berlin we were able to use the information Boyd told us to make the most of the time in the city so interesting. Its a complated city and Boyd really helped us understand it. 10 out of 10 from us :-)Great tour

Boyd was everything we hoped for. We wanted him to go the extra mile and he did. It was a tour outside the box. He gave us a glance of what east Berlin looked like. He knows just about every building and its history. We had a very enjoyable drink with local brewers since we’re Belgian and beer has very little secrets for us. He let us see the more urban side of Berlin since we were already a few days in Berlin and had seen the more typically tourist attractions already. Very much a plus is the fact that he is Canadian and thus a native English speaker which made it very easy to follow his English. We recommend Boyd for everybody who is looking for a tour outside the box although we are convinced that Boyd can make an adventure of about just anything. As a history teacher he tells the story of Berlin with a lot of respect for the city and its inhabitants. Half a day spent with Boyd makes him a friend rather than just a guide.Boyd went the extra mile
