Hi there! I’m Catarina, born and raised in Lisbon, fueled by coffee, pastries, and a lifelong passion for History.

When I’m not working on my PhD in Medieval History, I’m out showing people like yourself the city I love the most (and not just because of the custard tarts, although they definitely help!).

Think of me as your local friend with a time machine and the know-how to navigate the hills and winding alleys of Lisbon with ease. Catarina was terrific. It was a huge plus that she studies history, so we got context that you might not always get on another tour. She listens well: we told her in advance about particular interests of ours and she made sure to weave that in. She had a lot of patience with our picture taking along the way. :) Wonderful personality. Highly recommend! Excellent experience!

We did a 1.5 hour walking tour of Alfama in May. Our small group of 6 was just the right size. Our charming guide Katerina could not be faulted. Her English was perfect and she gave us a very interesting tour which she had carefully planned to be almost all downhill, with frequent pauses along the way. Note that the streets of the Alfama area remain mostly in the shade, as they are so narrow. As a result it was not too hot. We enjoyed the tour and would warmly recommend Katerina and Discover Walks.Walking tour of Alfama

We walked with Catarina through Alfama. She took us to lovely and hidden places. Catarina gave us a lot of background knowledge which helped us getting an overview of the history of Alfama.
