Good Day my friend !!

I was born in the 1960s, in time to witness the transformation of Singapore from a third world country to a modern metropolis. Just like most Singaporeans I live in public housing, eat at hawker centre, use public transport and have served in the military.

As a tour guide my biggest reward comes from meeting people from all over the world, sharing with them exciting sights, stories and flavours of Singapore.

My keen interest in heritage and culture got me started on guiding more than a decade ago, and has enjoyed every moment of it.

Most of my tours use public transport, but if you need to get around in a car please let me know and I will make arrangement (subjected to availability).

HJ was easy to find at our meeting place and was well-prepared for our walking tour. He took us to a few hawker stalls in Chinatown and explained each item we were served. HJ took pics and even provided captions for each dish in the photos. He surprised us with a gorgeous outdoor rooftop view 50 stories up of the city. Great time!Excellent experience with HJ

Signed up for a tour with HJ on short notice. He took me to 2 different Hawker centers plus several other small restaurants and food stands to try Singapore’s dishes, snacks, and desserts. The tour also showed the history and the development of the city. Went through Chinatown, the downtown area, and ended in Boat Quay. From the moment we met HJ, we knew we were in for an adventure! He led us on a path to one of the Hawker Center’s detailing the history and culture of the area. At our first stop, he opened up his backpack to pull out water bottles and tissues before hurrying off to get our first tastes. He came back with plates of food to sample. Before we took a bite, he took a group pic (at the end of the day, he sent us all the photos he took with the dishes labeled). Next we went upstairs where he showed us around the “wellness” stalls and then the local garment stalls. Our next stop was the lower level for the fresh food stalls. He pointed out the various fresh fish, the buckets of live eels and giant prawns! We stopped at a fruit stand where he described the Asian fruits. When we told him we had never tried a mangosteen, he purchased a few and showed us how to get to the edible fruit center. We were skeptical but his enthusiasm encouraged us to try it. HJ was correct - we all loved it! As we walked to another market, he pointed out the public art and the historical buildings. The next food stop included MANY more dishes to sample and then dessert! After we couldn’t eat any more, HJ led us through the streets pointing out even more local history and art. We ended up on the rooftop of an apartment complex with views of Singapore and Malaysia & Indonesia in the distance. We thought our tour would simply be a sampling of tastes from the Hawker Center, but it was so much more!! HJ was very good at introducing us to lots of Hawker Stalls and food shops in various parts of Chinatown. He also showed us murals and signage that helped explain the history of the Hawker stalls as well as the experience of the Chinese people coming to Singapore and how they lived. Lots of food! Come hungry! Great Hawker Chinatown Experience

HJ führte uns an nicht für alle betretbare Orte: Housing-Project, wir machten einen eindrücklichen Rundgang über die Dächer. HJ erklärte uns das Prinzip. Weiter erhielten wir Einblick ins noch erhaltene ehemalige Chinatown mit den 2stöckigen, bunten Häusern, wir explorierten das Hafenquartier mit historischem Unterbau durch HJ zu den Anfängen von Singapore und dem heutigen Nimbus. We did a private tour for the 2 of us with HJ. It was really good, learning about Singapore with a local guide and being guided about the many dishes we got to eat. Everything we ate was delicious, and it was a perfect introduction to Singapore. There was lots of food as well. Great tour with lots of excellent food

HJ was very knowledgeable about town and we liked how we saw a great deal in a short visit. It was a very hot day and he took us in to many spots that still showed us great info on Singapore while giving us an air con break! Much appreciated! He was generous when taking us to try a hawker area for lunch and we had good conversation. He sent us a pic of himself when he had arrived at the meeting point which was very helpful as his picture on the app does not really look like the same person! lol. Thanks HJ! HJ took me to many different famous places in Singapore. Little China and little India with tempels , hawker centers, shopping streets, the Arabian quarter. He took me up to skyscrapers with an georgous view over the city. He showed me Fort Canning with the history. We did different little walks and he told me little stories. Sometimes I would have liked, that he talks more about the systems, the history, the habits and other things. But it was a great day for me. And for an stop over in Singapore many impressions. Thank you HJ for your guidance. One day in Singapore
