As an educated private tour guide in Barcelona and Catalonia, I specialize in crafting in-depth, personalized experiences that explore the region's rich history, art, architecture, and gastronomy. I have a passion for sharing my knowledge of the city's stories and diversity, and it led me to go back to university to study history and art. My tours not only focus on the iconic works of modernist architects like Antoni Gaudi, but also delve into the Jewish quarter and other lesser-known gems of the city, as well as the beautiful and historic cities of Girona and Montserrat.

My itineraries highlight the vibrant Middle Ages Jewish community history and the remarkable Convivencia, where Jews, Christians, and Muslims coexisted harmoniously. Visits to ancient Jewish quarters and synagogues illuminate this exceptional period, while excursions to Girona and Montserrat reveal evidence of the three religions' interconnected past.

In addition to modernist architecture, my tours focus on the lives and works of Pablo Picasso and Salvador Dalí. Culinary experiences, such as cooking classes and wine tastings, introduce you to traditional Spanish and Catalan cuisine and the region's finest wines.

My goal is to provide an unforgettable journey showcasing Catalonia's rich heritage, Middle Ages Jewish communities, and harmonious coexistence of the three major religions, all while indulging in exquisite food and wine. We enjoyed our time with Ilona. She was very knowledgeable and took her responsibilities as a tour guide very seriously. Both in communicating ahead of time and day of our tour, Ilona took the time to discover what we were interested and incorporated that into her remarks. While our tour was the Gaudi tour, I appreciated that Ilona incorporated the history and background that led to Catalunyan Modernisme, as well as showed us and talked about architecture by others from that time period. Ilona gave us the right amount of information, not overwhelming us without too much detail yet making sure we understood the most important points. Our morning with Ilona was a morning well-spent.Great tour with knowlegeable guide

We really enjoyed our tour with Ilona. She was warm, knowledgeable, and brought so much local history into the food experience that it felt like we were getting two tours in one. We appreciated her help in cutting through the tourist traps and introducing us to dishes and spots we wouldn’t have tried on our own. It was a relaxed and engaging way to explore the city and its food culture: we came away full, happy, and more knowledgeable about Barcelona. We’re also very grateful that Ilona was able to accommodate us, after our flight was delayed and we arrived late. We did this tour at the beginning of our trip and felt much more equipped to enjoy the rest of our stay in the city.Two tours in one — food and local insight

We expected more. Ilona was really very,very friendly But unfortunately the tour was a little bit uninspired and boring. She told us facts from the travel guide and unfortunately didn’t really inspire us with hidden secrets from Barcelona. To be honest 200 Euros is a bit much for that.Disappointing

We are a group of 8 moms/daughters from the US, and we had the most excellent experience with Ilona! Great food, so many places we never would have ventured to without our guide, beautiful small streets, wonderful history. We finished with full hearts and full bellies! Ilona was a great communicator, very flexible to meet our needs, and very focused on ensuring we had a great experience. Fully recommend!!Excellent experience!

Ilona was very knowledgeable about Barcelona's Gothic Quarter, and she definitely pointed out things we wouldn't have seen without her. She introduced us to Patisserie Hafmann which was incredible! Ilona worked hard to accommodate our schedule after I made a mistake initially, and she responded nicely to all my communications.
