My name is Jan Willem and I am living in a beautiful monumental house in the heart of Amsterdam; what is also a B&B, called the Blue Sheep with a 5 star rating on Air BnB. Hospitality is in my/our genes!

As a professional tourist guide in Italy (because my wife is Italian) I got also interested in the history of Amsterdam a couple of years ago. Since ever I guide our B&B guests and others through the city. I am flexible and can tell you a lot about the history of this amazing city. We enjoyed our tour with Jan Willem very much ! He is a very friendly and engaging guy. Extremely knowledgeable about the city of Amsterdam and its history. We learned facts about the city which we would not have known otherwise. And during the tour, we saw places in Amsterdam, which we would never have seen otherwise. A great and very interesting tour !Jan Willem is a great guide !

Jan came prepared. I booked this walking tour just for myself. It was also a same day, last minute booking. I decided to book through withlocals after reading an article online recommending the service as it’s #1 must-do thing for first timers in Amsterdam. I was not disappointed. Jan’s tour was a non-stop tour filled with historical knowledge & cultural experience rooted in his 40-years of living in Amsterdam. During one of our stops at “Blue” which had a tremendous 360 degree view, Jan shared at great depth about discotheques & popular Dutch snacks. Jan also clearly has relationships with many of the service workers at the various stops. He came with a binder full of images, diagrams and sketches that grounded our conversation throughout the walking tour. I highly recommend Jan as a tour guide. He is a warm person with a sense of humor & clear passion for Amsterdam.Knowledge & Experience

Jen Willem was just fabulous. I am the wrong side of 70, and I was travelling with a 19-year-old - Jen Willem listened to our specific requests and took us on a route that included places I am sure we would not have found on our own - this was our first time in Amsterdam. He is clearly passionate about his beautiful city, and is full not only of facts and figures but interesting stories that bring places alive. Jen Willem has a lovely personality, very personable, very patient, and a great sense of humour too. I would totally recommend him.Jen Willem is just great!
