Kaixo! I am Joseba a young euskaldun (Basque speaking person, wrongly translated in to Basque) born and raised in Bilbao. I am an official tour guide in the Basque region and my aim is to get you close to our beautiful land and culture.

My career began as an environmental technician, which gave me a great knowledge about our superb nature. But 7 years ago, I decide to move to Berlin and there I found a job that fits in with my skills and preferences: guiding people on their journeys. Since then, I've lived in four countries and guided hundreds of travellers in different parts of the world, until I decide to come back to my beloved Bilbao, three years ago.

As a guide, I am a really proactive, serious and passionate one. I am all the time trying to improve my skills and knowledge, always curious about history, folklore and cultural aspects of societies. All my tours can be given in the five languages I speak: Basque, Spanish, English, German and Italian.

With all this experience I want to invite you to discover the Basque Country from close, getting in touch with the local people, their tradition and culture, as the surrounding enchanted nature. My way of working could be easily described in two words: Slow Tourism.

This was our first visit to Bilbao and Joseba was the perfect guide. His communication prior to meeting made it easy for us - 4 NYers. We had a nice mix of history, culture and food. Amazing day with a passionate guide!

We loved our tour with Joseba. He knows so much about Bilbao and the Basque history. He pointed out the best places to eat Pinxtos and where to buy sweet specialities like the Bollo de Mantequilla. Also his story about the Guggenheim was very interesting. So, when in Bilbao: go with Joseba! When in Bilbao go with Joseba!

We hebben een leuke energieke tour gemaakt met Joseba. Hij vertelde ons enthousiast over de cultuur van pinxtos eten en de passende drankkeuze, waaronder cider. En wij genoten van het eten en drinken. Daarnaast wist hij op al onze vragen antwoord te geven en mooie achtergrondverhalen te vertellen. Goede energie, veel gezeliigheid.

We had a wonderful experience with Joseba in Bilbao! He was a local and also deeply knowledgeable. It showed in the way he introduced the city to us, locating it in history and geography and crafting the walk accordingly. Once he gauged our degree of interest and level of knowledge, he picked up on our questions and added further interesting information. After a leisurely drink mid-walk, we ended our tour thoroughly satisfied that we’d got as good an overview of the city, and the history and culture of the Basque region, as we possibly could as visitors. Thank you very much, Joseba! Worth every penny!

We had a bike trip with guide Joseba on our first day in Bilbao. It was the best guided tour we ever had. Joseba knows a lot about culture, history, nice food spots, hidden gems, sports, … . Whatever you want to know, he can tell you more. It felt like we were on a bike tour with a friend and the trip passed by really quick. We highly recommend a trip with him, as he is a really passionate guide! Great experience!
