Hi everyone :)
My name is Lisa, and I am originally from Germany. In 2016, I came to Penang Island as a traveler, fell in love with the culture, food and lifestyle, and decided to stay. I enjoy cooking, especially local food, which I sell in my small café with my husband. In the past, I taught travelers how to cook local curries and Malaysian sweets, following the recipes of my husband's Malaysian family. I am looking forward to showing you the specialty of Penang Island and giving you some insights into how it is to live in Malaysia as a foreigner 🌺🇲🇾

I recently had the pleasure of experiencing a private food tour in Penang, and it was nothing short of exceptional. My guide, Lisa, truly made the experience unforgettable.
Lisa has lived in Penang for 16 years, and her deep knowledge of the island’s diverse cultures and cuisines shines through in every stop, story, and bite. From the vibrant street food stalls to tucked-away local favorites, she guided me through a carefully curated selection of dishes that represented the rich blend of Malay, Chinese, and Indian influences that make Penang such a culinary gem.
What really stood out was how Lisa connected each dish to its cultural roots explaining not just what we were eating, but why it mattered. Her passion for food and local history is infectious, and it felt like being shown around by a friend who truly loves and understands the heart of Penang.
This tour wasn’t just about food (though the food was amazing) it was about stories, people, and the traditions that have shaped this unique part of Malaysia. Es war so ein schöner Abend mit Lisa.
Sympathisch, gemütlich und kompetent.
Wir haben viele Dinge erfahren, die wir nicht wussten. Die Leckereien haben uns alle sehr gut geschmeckt. Schöner kann man eine Tour nicht gestalten, da bleibt keine Luft mehr nach oben. Wir wünschen der lieben Lisa alles Gute für ihre Zukunft und noch viele schöne kulinarische Abende.

Following an easy made reservation and quick follow up to arrange a convenient place to meet eachother, we started a private walkimg foodtour with Lisa.
Lisa has a relaxed and entertaining way to explain the various dishes we enjoyed during the foodtour. She also gave an interesting insight in living in Georgetown, originally coming from Germany.
We enjoyed the foodtour with Lisa and can highly recommemd her.

Lisa hat uns an Orte geführt die wir alleine nie angesteuert hätten. Die Mischung der Gerichte war sehr gelungen, die Tour wirklich sehr kurzweilig und spannend. Zudem konnte sie uns auch viel über Land, Leute und die Kulturen berichten.
Von uns gibt's eine 10 von 10:)!unvergessliche und schmackhafte Tour!

Lisa is een super leuke enthousiaste gids die veel van de restaurants omgeving en het eten weet te vertellen! De kinderen van 8 en 12 hebben vonden het een van de hoogtepunten in Penang en hebben alles geproefd!De tour was geweldig!

Lisa was very generous of her time to show us around some specialities of Penang. It was great to immerse ourselves in different cultures through food and to experience places we would have not gone ourselves! She made us try varied plates all characteristic of Penang's diversity and had some nice insights about the city and what to do along with more suggestions for local dishes! Delicious and insightful!

We had a delightful tour. We ate a delicious choise of food, went to interesting places/restaurants and had a lot of fun with Lisa.

We had Lisa as our tasting guide.
It was great. We tried many different foods that we wouldn’t have normally.
Lisa explained all the ingredients used in all the food we had.
Lisa then sent us a list of all the names of the dishes.
Highly recommend.
