My name is Marko. I was born and raised just outside the City walls of Dubrovnik overlooking them every morning when I wake up. I am going to share with you my knowledge and experiences from growing up until now. My passions are sports, travelling, culture and sharing Dubrovnik tradition & heritage. Our morning spent with Marko on a history tour was enlightening and we left with a much better understanding of past events. He was punctual, a great communicator and captured our attention during his tour. Mid morning we sat and chatted over coffee (our request) and asked him Qs about his life and that of his family growing up in Dubrovnik and about living through The Balkans War, all fascinating stuff. Having Marko to ourselves was a bonus, yes you do pay more but in our view well worth the money.Enlightening!

We had a private three hour tour with Marko along with two parents and two college age kids. Marko was spectacular in giving us a detailed history of Croatia and took us to all the major sites in old town. His way of speaking kept all of us interested and we really had a fantastic experience! Would strongly encourage taking this tour with him. Amazing Tour of Old Town Dubrovnik

I cannot recommend The History of Dubrovnik tour with Marko highly enough. This experience was far more than a typical sightseeing – it was a deeply moving and intellectually enriching journey into the heart of a city that has endured, resisted, and ultimately thrived. Our guide Marko was exceptional: knowledgeable, passionate, and deeply respectful of the complex history of his city and his country that he was sharing. Marko didn’t just recite facts—he told stories often involving his personal feelings and emotions. Stories of resilience, of identity, of a people caught in the crosswinds of a fractured nation. Walking through Dubrovnik’s ancient streets while learning about its role during the Yugoslav Wars gave us a whole new appreciation for the city’s beauty and strength and made the experience all the more meaningful. We learned a lot about the ancient and newest history of the city and would certainly come back for more!Unforgettable rich history of Dubrovnik

Marko customized his scavenger hunt game to include our kids (aged 9 and 11) which made our experience very special. We loved learning about the interesting facts about old town of Dubrovnik and Marko made the time very enjoyable.Fantastic Marko!

We had an incredible walking tour of Old Town Dubrovnik with Marco in June 2025. From the moment we met him, Marco was warm, engaging, and full of fascinating stories that brought Dubrovnik’s rich history and culture to life! What made this tour truly special was Marco’s ability to take us off the beaten path. While we did visit some of the city's most iconic landmarks, he also led us through quiet alleys, hidden courtyards, and scenic viewpoints that most tourists completely miss. It felt like we were exploring a more authentic side of the city—one that only a true local could reveal. Marco also shared insider tips on where locals like to go to the beach and where to eat, pointing out small, family-run restaurants and tucked-away wine bars we never would have found on our own. Thanks to him, we ended up enjoying one of the best meals of our trip at Spaghetteria Toni! If you're planning to visit Dubrovnik and want more than just a standard history tour of this amazing walled city, I highly recommend booking with Marco. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 10/10 Experience An Unforgettable Day with Marko! Our tour with Marko through the city walls, the Old City, and Lokrum Island was one of the absolute highlights of our trip to Dubrovnik. From start to finish, Marko brought incredible energy, humor, and deep local knowledge to every step of the experience. Hearing his personal stories about growing up in Dubrovnik—including his memories of the 1991 bombing and life during the war—was something we’ll never forget. That first-hand perspective gave so much meaning to everything we saw and made the city come alive in a way no guidebook ever could. Marko is a natural storyteller, full of personality and warmth. He kept our group—including teenagers—completely engaged and laughing throughout the tour. His recommendation to start early was spot on—we beat the heat and the crowds and had seen so much by noon that it felt like we gained an extra day of vacation! He also made our time on Lokrum Island truly special—walking us through the botanical gardens, monastery, and showing us where to find the famous peacocks. Best of all, he guided us to the top cliff-jumping spots and made sure we could enjoy the adventure safely. Thanks to his advice, the rest of our afternoon on the island was unforgettable. Our tour with Marko was a fantastic was a fantastic way to feel welcomed to Dubrovnik. His friendly, relatable demeanour made him very easy to like. We had a wide range of ages in our group, but Marko skillfully taught us about Dubrovnik's history by telling personal stories of his life growing uo there -- and his sense of humour made the stories even more memorable. We had the most incredible day exploring Dubrovnik with Marko as our tour guide! From start to finish, he was friendly, knowledgeable, and so much fun to be around. We started our day walking the iconic city walls, and Marko brought the history of Dubrovnik and Croatia to life, answering our many many questions with enthusiasm. And gave the Game of Thrones fans among us some info too! After the city, we headed out to Lokrum Island for a really fun lunch at nice restaurant where we accidently fed the wild peacocks some lunch and then had fabulous kayaking tour with Marko showing us beautiful coastal caves and getting to do some cliff jumping. If you’re visiting Dubrovnik, do yourself a favor and book a day with Marko. It was one of the absolute highlights of our trip. Thank you, Marko, for an unforgettable experience! Wonderful!
