I have been living in Genova for eight years. My secret of knowing the place very well more than a lot of people who were born and raised here is that I approach every place I have lived in for years like a tourist, with the same curiosity as if I am visiting it for the first time and leaving tomorrow. I consider myself a global citizen. I had a career in marketing in multinationals that allowed me to reallocate in a different country every couple of years some like Germany, USA and Switzerland.
These days traveling like a tourist is out, and living like a local is in but both need not be mutually exclusive.
