Mateus provided a fabulous introduction to Coimbra over two hours packed with old world charm and interesting history central to Portugal’s story. Mateus is knowledgeable and an engaging storyteller, and the private experience can’t be beat. Great tour!

We instantly engaged with Mateus - his bright , personality ,relaxed manner , brilliant knowledge base and explanations / descriptions created an immediate rapport- which made the climb up the hill to our meeting place @ the iron gates so worth-while .
I cannot recall any previous guide being able to relate to us so well , and understand the level of information we were looking for / needed to be able to understand Coimbra and the features he showed us. Mateus was also keen to learn from us about Australian ways of doing things -sort of made us feel special too .Bottler Mateus and bring him home with us

Matt is young, enthusiastic, knowledgeable but curious, making him a perfect guide for this historical town and its recent impressions. I was afraid that this tour may conflicts with the University/Library tour, but Matt's history complemented the latter tour. I was able to learn and visited a less known chapel that were more amazing and intimate than other cathedrals and chapels I visited. Highly recommend for any first time visitors.Great accompaniment to University Tour

Mateus gave a wonderful tour to our family of seven. The walk was very well built up, starting at the top of the hill at the university, walking down the old city center and ending near the river. Our five children aged between 15 and 21 loved the personal anecdotes Mateus shared, and the way he interacted with each of them. In no time it felt like we were visiting the city with a friend! Highly recommended!

Mateus is a great guide around Coimbra - providing lots of historical detail interspersed with his insights as a student in the city. Our family, including two teenagers, found him to be great company and a very engaging host. His enthusiasm for the city was infectious. He was flexible when I needed to change the reservation due to a heat wave and took into consideration our family's needs. I'd really recommend Mateus's tour. Interesting and engaging insight

We are a family of five and Mateus has been a great guide.
We started at the famous university, visited a nearby Jesuit church, walked down the hill through the old town and then had a break at a beautiful cafe to taste a local snack. We then proceeded along the riverside park and then finished the tour on the opposite shore.
Mateus, as a student of the university, has in-depth knowledge of a student’s life and was also telling us all the funny stories of life as a local. He was more than capable of answering the typical difficult questions raised by our teenager kids!
The tour did not include entry to the famous library and rooms of the university (which required paid tickets). However, Mateus sent us the link so we could purchase the tickets online for a visit the next day.
We had a great time and would recommend Mateus to any visitors!Great walking tour

We did the 2 hour guided walk of Coimbra with Mateus.
Mateus is a great story teller, and he gave us a good picture of Coimbra's history during the tour. I highly recommend him to everyone!Great storyteller
