Tania is very kind and knowledgeable about the city, it's history and the stories behind the architecture. She was enjoyable to walk around with. As a solo-traveler, it was nice to have someone to help navigate this VERY busy area.
I am mostly rating this experience low because I paid for a 3 hour experience and it ended 30-minutes early. I think my expecatations for the experience were off. I thought we would go inside the sites listed, when in reality you just walk-by. We did not go inside Palaciode Bellas Artes. I would check that the sites you want to visit are open for the time you book your tour. Mine was from 3:30-6:30 on a Friday and the ruins 3D-maps closed at 5ish. Note you need tickets to visit Palicio Postal. I thought the coffee or drink at the end would be a local-gem and a maybe 30-minute sit-down and chat, when in reality it was just a place in the middle of the bustle and a grab-and-go. Overall, I had limited time in the city and thought this tour would check off my big-ticket touristy items in Centro Historico. I wish I had used this time to explore these buildings on my own so I could go inside. I didn't voice this in advance, so maybe if you ask in advance this is something they can accomodate. Overall, disappointed
Tania shared queer stories and knowledge that added new meaning and perspective to the version of Mexican history we often get told. She also spoke in depth regarding current issues with a lovely balance of honesty but also hope and joy. I’m really happy she provides this tour and grateful I got to experience it!Grateful to experience this tour!
Definitely one of a kind experience. LGBTQ history told here was deep cut. We lucked out with a good group. Insightful questions and friendly chatting organically extended the tour by an hour but Tania was 100% down to make sure we got the complete experience. Would highly recommend this tour. Keep in mind: food stop is early on afternoon tour, so best to come a bit hungry. Two clean bathroom breaks included as well. Thanks Tania for an unforgettable experience!!Definitely one of a kind experience!
It was so interesting to hear a different side of Mexico's indigenous and contemporary history. We stopped at the main landmarks, but Tania also highlighted important hidden landmarks. Each story was told with care, as some were heavier than others. What makes this a tour for the girls, gays, and theys, is that there is a shared understanding of the dangers of repression and the systematic isolation of people based on gender or sexuality. Nevertheless, that does not mean you have to be a girl, gay, or they to fully appreciate the tour, as it's not about that. It's about learning a side of history you would not necessarily learn from a normal city walking tour guide. I love history, so this was so much fun for me. I appreciate all the research that went into creating this experience, and I hope everyone else enjoys too. :)A side of history you wouldn't necessarily learn from other tour guides!
It's my second tour with Tania and she's such a friendly and knowledgeable host. The intimate tour through Guerrero and Centro felt like listening to a friend tell stories. Learning the queer and feminist side of Mexican history you learn about on other tours and in museums is a needed perspective when visiting CDMX.It felt like listening to a friend tell stories!
I seriously couldn’t recommend this tour enough. Tania was an AMAZING host who brought a perfect mix of extensive historical and cultural knowledge but also amazing vibes that made the tour fun and not like sitting in class. I learned so many things that I would not have just walking around myself. Also, as a queer person, it was so nice to be in a space made for people like me while traveling to a new city. I seriously would re book this tour if I came back, thank you again TaniaI can't recommend Tania enought!
Tania was such an amazing guide and human. She is extremely knowledgeable about so much queer history and you can tell she really has a passion for her work. We absolutely loved spending our day with her and were so glad to learn so much about the deep and complex history of the LGBTQIA+ community in Mexico. We can only hope to do another tour with her again and would strongly recommend this tour to anyone who is looking for a great time in Mexico.Strongly recommend this tour guide!
My group and I had such a great experience with Tania! Tania had a wealth of knowledge regarding queer history, feminist activism, and indigenous history in Mexico City. Nothing we learned on this tour could easily be found in textbooks or even online, so I was very impressed by how much independent research Tania had done and what an expert she was on these important subjects. She also provided a list of recommendations on movies and documentaries if we wanted to learn more. Tania had a great sense of humor and was very easy to get along with, so we all enjoyed spending the day with her. The restaurant we started the tour at was also very delicious and unique, so that was a fun added bonus. I would recommend this activity to anyone visiting Mexico City!I would recommend to anyone visiting Mexico City!
Tania was a very knowledgeable and friendly guide. I learned a lot about the city and the history, and her stories were very interesting and moving. The person I was traveling with knew much more about Mexican history than me and Tania did a great job of making things accessible for me while answering all of his more in depth questions.Very knowledgable and friendly!
Tania is an excellent storyteller and guide who has a wealth of knowledge about her city and its history. I recommend this tour to all those interested in exploring the local history and learning more about the communities that live in Mexico City. Also, Tania was very friendly and made us feel welcome and safe during the entire tour!Tania is an excellent storyteller!
