Maruro was the best guide start to Finish. We met very close to our hotel and was on time. Knew how to avoid traffic and took us the the most beautiful places. Umbria region is beautiful. Civitia de Bagnoregio is beautiful and what old Italy in my mind is like. He took us to a great place for lunch and attended to everything we asked him. Then back to Rome and dropped us off at our Hotel. His conversation was engaging. He is the best! Even gave us recommendations was places to eat in Rome!!Best tour ever!

What unique day out of Rome. If it weren't for Mauro we would have never checked these places out. Early start is a must. Mauro is so attentive, engaging, friendly and easy going. It was truly a wonderful experience to go to Umbria and see an amazing world too different from Rome yet not far from it. Our guide Mauro made it even more worth it. He picked us up and all throughout the drive would explain a lot of things about the place. He’d even suggests what are the other places we can visit given a short time in Rome. Brought us to shops where we can get artisan products, unique finds perfect reminders of our trip to Umbria. And getting us to see an amazing landscape that really took our breath away. You need to prepare though for a long hike to get to Civita, but every step is worth it when you get on top. I highly recommend this place and getting Mauro to help you have an even more amazing time in Umbria with his kindness and knowledge of the place. It’s a place I will visit again for sure!! Umbria! What an amazing experience

We had a fabulous day trip to Umbria with Mauro ....starting early at 7 was his great idea as less traffic and we explored the amazing “island” town of Civita before it was too warm. He suggested we sample the renowned locally made cosmetics from this stunning medieval village that use donkey milk and snail serum ...no joke....it was an hilarious shopping experience and nicole who made a purchase will let him know how it works :) Mauro gave us a good insight into the history of both Civita and our next stop, the beautiful town of Orvieto. He suggested a few places in the village for lunch and the pick Bartolomei served a delicious selection of local produce and vino Rosso:) Nothing better than having Mauro as our “chauffeur “ after a long lunch to deliver us safely back to Roma Mauro as our guide was the best choice ....personable , informative , engaging and a sense of humour too .....better than a bus trip with a mob any day. Mauro wasn’t sure he’d be in town to take us on this trip when I first reached out, but when he knew he wouldn’t be able, he figured out a way for us to still take our dream-trip to Umbria thanks to Fabrizio! These two made sure my family had a special day we’ll never forget - from hanging out with bats in Geppetto’s workshop to standing in awe below the mosaic reflections from the Duomo in Orvieto, it was all a dream come true for us. I am so glad that we did this tour! Mauro is a fantastic tour guide and my husband and I got to see places in Italy that we never would have been able to do on our own. He’s very knowledgeable about a number of topics and has been to the US many times, which led to some interesting conversations during our car ride. Mauro also gave us some suggestions for the rest of our trip. I would also add that I I booked this tour really early (because I know how crowded Rome gets at this time of year). Mauro was very organized and reached out to me about a month before our scheduled tour to suggest switching the date due to some logistical issues with getting to the bridge on weekends. Mauro was not available for the booking, but he was able to set me up with Fabrizio, his friend, for the outing. Spot on time, Fabrizio arrived at pick up point, and off we went. It was a thoroughly pleasant day - despite the chill - chatting and visiting Bagnoregio and Orvieto. The stops for coffee and lunch were well chosen. Fabrizio was great company and very patient. Mauro did check in throughout the day to make sure things were going well. If you are looking to get out of Rome for a day and explore a bit of Medieval Italy in good company, I absolutely recommend Mauro/Fabrizio. Fun Day!

Mauro was on time even early for our tour to Umbria/Orvieto and Bagnorerrgio 😂. Mauro is very easy to talk to as one would a friend. He is an excellent driver as well as very knowledgeable guide. Our time seemed very casual and at ease as we toured around and Mauro was most accommodating to our needs and desires. Mauro picked us up at our apartment and was an excellent guide to our day in Umbria. We visited the unique village of Civita Di Bagnorggio. Mauro requested an early pick up so we would miss the crowds and traffic, which was a GREAT suggestion. It was a bit of a walk to get to the village, but because we arrived there early, we had a very close parking space. Mauro took us through the village and introduced us to its beautiful architecture and amazing history. We then proceeded to a town called Orvieto with its many shops and restaurants. Mauro took us to one of his favorite restaurants and we were privileged to meet the owner. The food was excellent. The pace of the day was very relaxing and comfortable. Mauro continuously spoke of the history as we drove to our destinations. He is an EXCELLENT guide and I would certainly recommend him for your day in Umbria. Mauro and Fabrizio were my guides. Both were charming and personable. Both spoke English very well which made communicating much easier. I had a fabulous time and can never thank them enough for the amazing day we shared. The venue in Civita Bagnoreggio is a must see. The view is breathtaking. The cathedral in Orvieto is stunning. I wish I could write a positive review but I can not. I booked a tour for myself and my wife with Mauro on Monday morning at 7:30 am for his tour of Orvieto. We were staying near the Piazza Novena. I realized that a car could not get to our front door and Mauro said we had to meet him at a place that was a 7 minute walk. I did say ok but when I arrived at our room I did see other spots that were much closer that we could be picked up at. I discussed this with Mauro on Sunday night August 12, 2018 but he said we had to walk to where he was. If you look at the conversations between Mauro and I -- you will see that I mentioned that my wife had a small wheelchair and we had 2 big suitcases. We were on a cruise the week before. My wife and I made the walk with our wheelchair and luggage to where we thought Mauro was. It turned out he was about another 5 minutes further. The big issue was when Mauro saw my wife and all of our luggage he said he could not take us to Orvieto. My wife could not make the walking? I do not know why there was such an issue when I did say my wife used a wheelchair in the first place. I told him my wife was fine to say behind in a restaurant and he and I could take the tour. He said he would not work. I am not sure if one of the reasons was that we had so much luggage which did fit in the car or if he had to park so far away in Orvieto or what. Mauro said he could take us to our hotel at the Rome airport. Which he did - we arrived at 8:30 am which was too early for check in. Now this is my issue: 1. I felt Mauro had something else to do that day and was not interested in taking my wife and I to Orvieto. If he let us know we could have checked out of our room at 11 am and taken a cab to our hotel at the airport. We paid him for taking us to the airport because if not we would have had to walk back to our room in the Piazza Novena. Also Mauro insisted that we be picked up at 7:30 am instead of 8:30 am that I requested. 2. I paid a deposit to withlocals that needs to be refunded to me. Please let me know that you are refunding my credit card as soon as possible. This is because we did not get a tour of Orvieto that we contracted for. RickReview of Trip with Mauro on Monday August

We were introduced to Mauro online @ Withlocals and immediately felt comfortable with him. Mauro has great communication skills, is precise with his instructions on where to meet and at what time. Mauro was on time for the tour, speaks excellent English and is very knowledgeable about all things Italian. Our tour was from Rome to Civita di Bagnoregio and Orvieto. We stopped on the way for a restroom and coffee break. If the rest of Withlocals' tour guides are as good as Mauro you can rest easy. We felt in good hands our entire tour. We Starting This Vacation With The Idea Of Doing Something Different. We Wanted To Go Outside Rome But Dint Know Where To Go Or What To Do! We Decided To Gets A Guide Tour With A Local That Would Know The Area. When We Booked The Tour We Assume It Was Going to Be Like Many Other Excursions In The Pass, Group Of Tourist! We Were Put In Contact With A Guy Named MAURO, At Our Arrival He Contacted Us To Lets Us Know Of The Time Of Pickup, On The Day Of Our Tour, And To Our Surprise When He Arrived He Picked Us Up In A Private Car, and When Asked Of The Rest Of The Tourist He Said No Is Just You! I Never Had A Privet Guide, in Any Case He Took Us To Some Of The Most Beautiful Places We Had Ever Seen, Places That You See In Only In Movies. Best Decision We Could Have Made, Extremely Affordable. He Picked Us At 7:00 am and Ended The Tour At 6: 00 Pm Mauro Was In Contact With Us From The Beginning Till Today Highly Recommended, From Our Part We Hope To Do It Soon Again Thank You....My Winter Vacation

Mauro picked up us near CARACALLA underground at 7:30 am. We spent about 2 hours to arrive at Bagnoregio. We visit this amazing place in 1,5 hours and we went to Orvieto. It was bigger than bagnoregio, it was very cold so Mauro brought us to drink a glass of red wine and the cols disappeared. It was a magical day because UMBRIA is a quite and green place. Mauro was a very fun and polite guy. I will highly reccommend him.A Day In Magical Umbria
