Are you visiting the beautiful city of Paris for the very first time or do you return to the city of love on a regular basis? The best way to discover Paris is to take your time! What better way to do so than with your very own local insider?
On this 6-7 hours private tour you get the chance to explore Paris like a local. You'll kick off your tour in the morning around 10 am, where I'll greet you at your preferred meeting point or hotel.
Then it's time to really discover the city! The entire tour is customizable according to your wishes. Would you love to see the main highlights or would you prefer a more authentic experience? I will tell you about the history of my city! We may take the metro to save you long trips during the day. Whatever your wishes, it will be a unique experience, created just for you!
For lunch, we'll go to a restaurant that matches your desires and budget. We will make as many stops as you like to relax, try local food, look at shops, take pictures and chat.
As the entire itinerary is customizable to your wishes, here's an example of what I can offer you:
- Start the morning discovering the left bank and the old Paris. The afternoon is focused on the emblematic Paris of the 19th century on the right bank.
- Starting at 10 am we'll meet in front of the pretty fountain St Michel, the ideal place to start the day. I can also meet you in front of your hotel!
- Then it's time to discover the island of the city: the Notre Dame de Paris, the Palace, the Place Dauphine and the Pont Neuf. Marvel at the impressive buildings while I tell you all about them.
- Explore the Latin Quarter where you'll see the oldest streets of Paris, the ancient ruins and a magical student district near the Pantheon.
- Stroll past the beautiful Luxembourg garden and check out the district of St. Germain des Prés. Explore the typical Parisian streets, just like you've imagined authentic Paris to be like. Cross the river on the bridge of arts (my favorite place) to go around the huge Louvre Palace ( but not inside the museum).
- Now on the right bank, you'll get the chance to see the Royal Palace, the alleys, and the Opera district! From there we can head to the Champs Elysees before joining the Eiffel Tower to end this beautiful day.
This route is of course completely customizable according to your desires and the location of your hotel. Please get in touch and I look forward to meeting you!
Some important tips and warnings:
Please write me BEFORE you do the booking. It is important to double check if I am available. And please tell me if you have specific request.
I would love to adapt to your request. But it is very important to know that Paris is a big city: it is not possible to see everything in one day!
I will be happy to meet you at your hotel, however I will ask you in this case a small extra equivalent to one hour of work. Indeed, going to get you means to build a route just for you!
Please be sure to ask me you want me to meet you at your hotel, before the booking.
If you want to add a museum to the tour like the Louvre, Orsay, or Versailles, I will charge a little bit more.
In addition, the spirit of this experience is to walk around quietly and take your time. I won't try to show you the maximum as soon as possible: it would be exhausting for everyone and devoid of interest! But keep in mind we will walk a lot!
Also take into account that if you arrive in the morning to leave at night at the airport the transit can be unpleasant: it would be more interesting for you to ask for a more modest tour, that I would be happy to prepare you.
The tour duration is minimum 4h to 6-7h max.

Lucien was awesome to work with. Even before we arrived in Paris he was very responsive, gave us lots of recommendations for purchasing tickets ahead of time and great dinner spots.
Once we met up with Lucien he was full of Paris history. We loved getting to hear stories and learn as much as we did and we never felt overwhelmed it was the perfect amount of detail. We also visited a basque restaurant for lunch with Lucien and the spot did not disappoint.
As our day winded down he even taught us how to use the metro. If we come back we will 100% be booking with him again.10/10 would highly recommend

Absolutely wonderful experience. Lucien was able to include several of the sites and museums that we were hoping to visit. Lucien is extremely knowledgeable about the history of the city and took us on routes that we never could have imagined for ourselves.
The man is an endless fountain of information. I believe if we were to have extended the tour to two weeks and never left the confines of the old walls of Philips Auguste, he would not have run short on interesting stories.

I scheduled the 6-hour walking tour with Lucian. I was worried that I might have bitten off more than I could chew, after having been largely sedentary for the past 2 years. When I met up with Lucien, I let him know I would probably need to walk a little slowly and stop often to catch my breath. That was not a problem for him. We discussed what I was looking for in the tour, and Lucien proceeded to provide it. He has a wealth of knowledge in history and a passion for it. I was able to ask general and specific questions. We had great conversation during the tour. At no time did the communications feel strained. There was a torrential thunderstorm for about the last 2 hours of the tour, and Lucien modified things again to try to stay out of the downpour as much as possible. Lucien is very knowledgable and informative. Without his guidance we would have Been stuck with all of the other tourist. Lucien is an amazingly passionate guide who really knows his history of Paris and loves to share it. I have used many with locals guided tours and have to say that Lucien is among my favorite ever. Why? He's so passionate about his country, its culture and its history without being off putting that you can't help but get excited. Lucien was a friendly and knowledgeable guide. He showed us the heart of old Paris, including Notre Dame. His genuine love of history was infectious. He told us the standard history as well as some smaller stories we had never heard, like the story of Heloise. I’m the afternoon, he took us to a flea market to see how real Parisians live and because I was looking for something to buy. The metro got a little too crowded, but that wasn’t Lucien’s fault. Visiting Paris for the first time we were a little overwhelmed with the prospects of getting our bearings. Decided to book the 6 hour tour with Lucien and it turned out to be a great decision.
After meeting right on time in the exact spot Lucien said, we sat down for an espresso to build a game plan. Lucien pulled out a map and with his being a teacher in a former career gave a good overview of Paris' history. We marked a path on the map and began our trek.
Lucien's love for Paris and it's history definitely showed from the start. It was like wandering the streets with a friend. He pointed out things you wouldn't get on a large tour and we were able to chat and visit spots which matched our interests. Lucien was very flexible and we were able to poke our heads in to little shops and galleries and take pictures anywhere we wanted to. We stopped for lunch at a locals bistro for a wonderful lunch before carrying on. The 6 hours is a definite must in Paris. We got a good lay of the land and were able to confidently tour a lot of Paris on our own in the next few days.

First time doing a one to one local tour and it was worth it. Imagine spending 6 hours with a stranger. It could have gone a different way. Instead it was like spending the day with someone I’d not just met. Good vibes, good banter, good history and jokes, good knowledge and an obvious passion for France and for history. What I also enjoyed about the tour was that I could ask random questions and get an answer. We also went to small streets and shops that tourists usually won’t go to which was exactly what I wanted to experience. The tour was flexible and a good 6 hours which flew by fast. I've been a little negligent in getting my review done, but wanted to make sure I had enough time to think about our entire trip to get context for my review. Lucien was fantastic!! For context, we asked him to do a small (four people) private tour.
He was on time and exactly where he said he was going to be...he showed us sites we would never have seen and gave us history that would have taken days (if we were able to find it at all!) to research on your own. We have been to many of the highlight locations we went to, but never had the indepth perspective and background for any of it - Lucien was able to provide us with invaluable context and made our visit to Paris much more enjoyable.

My family and I spent two days in Paris recently, and wanted to make the most of our limited time. We chose “One Day in Paris with a Local” with Lucien as our guide.
Lucien showed us the highlights of Paris and knew a great deal about each site. He makes history so much fun. My two teens and my husband (not particularly history fans) loved the way he shared the significance of the landmarks.
Lucien has a very easy-going personality, but took charge of the day. Not a moment was wasted. We had time to rest in beautiful off-the-beaten-path spots.
I can’t believe we were able to see and learn so much about Paris in one short day. With Lucien as our guide, we didn’t have to figure out the Metro or what to do in what order.

Lucien made a tour for my 13 year old son and I that we will remember our whole lives. We had a fantastic private tour with Lucien who brought the bloody and brutal history of Paris to life with spell binding stories. My name is Lucien and I have been a professional guide since 2017 . I have been a school teacher for a short time before, I wanted to continue to share my passion about history and nice things... and now I am a "guide conferencier" : I am an licenced guide and I can guide you in museums and everywhere you want in Paris.
I can guide you to the Louvre for exemple or to the other museums in Paris ( as long I prepared them).
I would certainly like to tell you everything I know about the history of Paris! In fact, it will be hard to stop me.
I like to say I am in a typical parisian : big mouth, complains a lot but of course eventually very charming.
I prefer to talk about Paris behind the postcard : the reallity of a life in a complicated city, the complex history of my country...And I won't be very good if you are only looking for fancy things and fashion!
I am more specialized in the medieval center: I can do tours like the Île de la Cité; the Latin quarter ; Les Halles; Le Maris ; Saint Germain des Prés, Montmartre; a bunch of other stuff. . . But I also like to go to the flea market in St Ouen (I live nearby).
I can guide you in the Louvre, and the Invalides and I can prepare other museums if you have a specific request.

I do all my sightseeing on foot. I don't have a vtc license: please don't ask me to drive you! But if you really want I can find a private driver, but I think that in Paris the best is always to walk during my tours.
I am happy to adapt my work to children but I am not a babysitter. I'm not a personal shopper, but I'll be happy to recommend some places. I'm not really a foodie, but I know a lot of delicious restaurants and can recommend a lot.
I am a professional full time freelance licenced guide : I am very proud of my work. I really try to do the best I can for the guest and to personalise everything I can. This is why I prefer sometimes to refuse to do a tour if I don't have time enough to prepare or if I realise I won't be good for the subject that is requested!
Important detail: Withlocals lets the guide decide what to do in this situation so I commit here to respect what I write here:
- in case of delay of the client I would like to be very clear, I do not wait more than 30 minutes without having received news and any refund will be refused.
- if you notify me of your delay it is imperative to do it by the chat of Withlocals, or by sms (preferably by whatsapp), in any case in writing.
I can adapt if it is possible and do not worry I always look for a solution: the tour can be shortened, or even rescheduled later.
However I no longer accept situations like saying : "we arrive in a few seconds"... and letting me wait more than an hour (it is very specific but it happened to me several times). The guide is not going to wait indefinitely, it is a question of respect.
In case of absence on my part, the client will be entitled to a full refund of course. This is a rare situation but I always prefer to cancel a tour if I am sick or too late rather than the client having a bad time.
I am freelance, which means that I can have a transport problem, be sick, or have made a stupid mistake in the program.
And I am much better at organizing myself to be completely honest!
In case of a problem on my part I always try to contact the client in advance, first on the withlocals chat, then by text or whatsapp, then by making a call.
When I can't come I always try to get a replacement for me with a competent guide that I trust. When a replacement is possible the tour will not be considered refundable.
