My husband and I had never been to Lucca, but had heard wonderful things about it from friends. We went on a private tour with Sara, and spent an enchanting few hours with her exploring the city.
She was so knowledgeable about the history of the city, and her humor in telling us stories about what we were seeing added so much fun to the facts. We loved the way she would talk about the history of a place and then relate it to present day.
We ended our tour with a delicious lunch at a restaurant she had reserved for us in the heart of the city.

Our tour with Maria Lucrezia was a highlight of our trip. I'm so glad we scheduled at the beginning of our visit to Lucca. She was warm, knowledgable, and a lot of fun! The blend of food experiences, sightseeing, history, and just getting the lay of the land was perfect. We felt ready and excited to explore further on our own afterward. What a wonderful job Maria Lucrezia did addressing the different interests and ages of our group! I am really sorry but my wife and I found the experience to be very, very disappointing. We have booked a number of these food tours over the last 15 years and have found them to be progressively expensive but equally, worse value for money. Maria Lucrezia was very pleasant, very knowledgeable and easy company with good English. However, the key objective of our previous bookings had been to try local food in authentic restaurants we would have known about ourselves. On this occasion, we each had a single cappuccino, a single scoop of ice cream with whipped cream topping, a triangle of chickpea pizza dough, half of one chocolate, two thimbles of digestivo, three teaspooons of olive oil, four teaspoons of balsamic vinegar, a look in the cellar of a wine shop, one glass of red wine and we shared a portion of tortellini with ragu. My wife and I scored a 4 because Maria Lucretia was a good guide but the food experience itself was a 1.

We spent a fantastic day with Sara on a “hidden gems” personalised tour of Lucca. Sara Was knowledgeable, kind, engaging , and maintained interest for our teenage kids. She took us to local places to try delicacy such as Bucellato and Torta d’erbe, and even helped us book restaurants for dinner the night before and for lunch after the tour, which was incredibly helpful.. We were a group of 12 women (friends, relatives) who did the Pisa walking taste tour with Sara. Sara was a good communicator at the time of booking (where I could park & the meeting spot). She was on time to the meeting place and very friendly.
She does a great job of explaining the local sites and taking you to some amazing places for tasting. We were all stuffed by the time our tour was over. We all loved Sara as our guide! 💕
I had previously visited Pisa in 2005 on a cruise ship stop on a Pisa tour booked through the ship. I did not want to return to Pisa because I was not impressed with my last visit, but the other 11 had not been to Pisa so we booked a tour with Sara. Maria exceeded our expectations for the food and history tour. She told us interesting stories about the history of Lucca and included recent events as well. She included personal facts and told us about the daily life in Lucca.
We all enjoyed the tour and food we ate. I texted her when we arrived in the city and she arrived early to start our tour because we had to end early. She was very accommodating. We really enjoyed our 3 hours wandering the streets of Lucca with Sara. She is so personable, polite, and eager to please. She designed a tour to accommodate our wishes perfectly. Maria was entertaining, enthusiastic, and very knowledgeable about all things Lucca. We had been to Lucca a few times before but Maria told us many things about Lucca and its history we hadn't heard about before. We had a great time with Poala in Lucca. We were noticed in time that Roberto wouldn’t be our guide, he send Paola instead. She is great!
We did a nice walk through Lucca, she knows a lot of the history and shows nice spots and details. It was very impressive. Because she lives in Lucca, she knows what is going on the weekend and had some tips for the next days, even months to visit some events.
It’s maybe not the cheapest way to discover Lucca, but it is a great way to do it.
The tasting of Lucca is very nice and we highly recommend this trip.Poala is a great guide

When we go to a new city, we like to do a guided walking tour - ideally with food tasting - to orientate ourselves and get a feel for the place. We did this in Lucca with Sara. She was wonderful. She was knowledgeable about Lucca, both the history and the present (including little known sites, shops and restaurants), and imparted that knowledge with charm and panache, and a great sense of fun and humour. Very interesting walk with Maria through ancient Lucca. She told us a lot of historical stories and showed us many symbols and signs on the buildings and in churches. Maria has a lot of knowlegde and answered all our questions. Walking around with Maria felt like walking with a friend, the city came to live. We had several tastings and recommadations for dining. We took a food tour with Sara, and had the best time. Sara is bright, fun, engaging, and her mastery of the English language is impressive: we understood every word that came out of her mouth! She told stories about Lucca and its history and mythology; pointed out major attractions, gave us recommendations for shopping and dining (all of which were quite good), and introduced us to many of the best foods of Lucca: the best gelato we have ever had, delicious chocolates, liquers, a wonderful gluten free flatbread, etc. It was a delightful way to get oriented to Lucca and to have some great foods on our first full day here. This is only our 4th food tour, but we now consider food tours to be the best way to spend part of the first day in any city that offers food tours. Roberto ist ein sehr netter Gastgeber. Er hat uns einen Parkplatz empfohlen und uns in einem Restaurant einen Tisch gebucht, in welchem er uns dann auch zuverlässig abgeholt hat. Er ist ein sehr erfahrener Guide.
Er hat in Pisa eine tolle Tour rund um die Kirche und den schiefen Turm gemacht. Dabei haben wir immer wieder kleine Stops gemacht, an welchem er uns interessante und nette Geschichten rund um Pisa erzählt hat. Weiterhin konnten wir kostenlos in die Kirche und bekamen von Ihm alle Fragen erklärt. Auch für unsere beiden Kids wurde es bei Ihm nie langeweilig.
