We had a great time with Naoki. He was so knowledgeable and his information and passion was clear from the get-go! We enjoyed some wonderful kushikatsu at the beginning of our tour and then made our way through Namba to Dotonbori. We were shown both a Shinto and Buddhist shrine and educated about the difference between the two. Naoki accompanied us on the subway back towards our hotel and even helped us find a restaurant for dinner after. Cannot recommend him highly enough! Great, informative evening!

What a pleasure it was to tour various Osaka neighborhoods and sample local specialties with an interesting, kind and engaging Osaka native. Naoki steered us through the market where we tried fugu, and to simple and authentic local restaurants specializing in cabbage pancakes, octopus fritters and kashi-katsu (panko-breaded skewers). It was all delicious. He shared his knowledge and personal experience of Buddhist and Shinto beliefs and practices, and of what makes Osaka special and how it got this way. He ably accommodated our shopping requests on the fly, too. What made Naoki a truly outstanding guide was not just his expertise and comfortable communication skills, but his ability to exude compassion and patience in all interactions, quickly making everyone at ease with him. Naoki’s enthusiasm for Osaka was infectious, and as a result our day was filled with delicious food, laughter, and spectacular views. Our whole family (two high-schoolers and two college students) enjoyed our time with him very much and would strongly recommend him to other families.

Hiromi was absolutely fantastic. She was friendly and energetic and knowledgeable. She was incredibly flexible with our changes to the tour and was quick to offer many options that might appeal to us. When we deviated from what we had discussed prior to meeting, she rolled with the punches perfectly and made every bit of the tour excellent and memorable. Even when asked to do something completely different she was immediately on board and did not hesitate to continue giving excellent information about every nuance and historical detail about where we were and what we were seeing. She was completely unfazed that it was raining and continued giving her all despite the weather. I cannot recommend her highly enough! If you have a chance to take a tour with Hiromi, you absolutely must! She is a treasure! I hope that we can come back and have another tour with her! Absolutely Terrific Tour!

Naoki was such an amazing guide! He met us with a huge smile and showed us the exciting food stalls of Shisekai and Dotonbori. Naoki was very considerate of my hubby's slower pace and told us interesting facts and stories about each area. Naoki took us to a quiet acne serene temple in the middle of Dotonbori. He also offered to take many photos of us, which was a bonus, since we don't have many photos of the both of us. We had takoyaki, okonomiyaki and a refreshing drink at a delicious food establishment at the end of the tour. Naoki even took us to Osaka station and ensured we knew how to get back to our hotel in Kobe before parting ways. We thoroughly enjoyed our tour with Naoki and will refer him to our friends and family, and will request him on our next visit to Japan. Awesome tour with Naoki : )

Naoki came to our hotel so we didn’t have to figure out how to get to him. The royal treatment from the start! He was so friendly and really knowledgeable about his city. We loved getting to know Osaka with him and learning the traditions for entering the various shrines. This was actually super useful for our remaining days in the area when we visited other shrines and temples. At the end he got us a reservation at a great restaurant for okonomiyaki. It was delicious! Thanks for everything Naoki! Fantastic host!

We had the BEST time with Hiromi as our food tour guide in Osaka! From the moment we met her, she was warm, funny, and full of energy. She took us to all the coolest local food spots—places we never would have found on our own—and every single bite was a hit. One of the highlights was when she introduced us to plum wine, which was absolutely incredible. We loved it so much we ended up buying a couple of bottles to take home! Our family had a wonderful food tour with Hiromi. We really enjoyed walking around Osaka and eating with her -- she is a kind and interesting person and we really enjoyed our time with her. She shared some interesting Osaka history and interesting facts about Kanji and Japanese language and history. And the food was so delicious. Shr took my son's love of beef and fried chicken into account and we had some really really good beef tempura, sushi, karaage, udon, takoyaki and okonomiyaki. I'm really glad we decided to do this food tour experience. Whether you are in Osaka for just a day like us for for several days, I highly recommend this walking tour with Max as a great way to get introduced to the city! Max completely catered our itinerary so that my family (including a teenager) could see the main highlights of the city by foot. He kept my son engaged and even helped us navigate a fun gaming arcade, past all the claw machines on the first few floors and introduced us to some fun and popular Japanese games like the drumming game which my son liked so much he sought it out at another arcade in Tokyo the next day. Max shared some history and cultural insight and took fabulous pictures at all the right spots along the way. He also provided some food and restaurant recommendations which were a big hit. Max has a very cool and laid back personality, was raised in England so his English is perfect and was a pleasure to spend three hours with. Highly recommend!Great way to get to know the city!

We had a wonderful tour with Maria on our first day in Japan. It was a fantastic introduction to some of Japan’s different specialities, and we visited local eateries that we either wouldn’t have known existed or wouldn’t have been brave enough to visit alone. In addition to introducing us to many different foods, Maria was a mine of useful information about local traditions, how the train ticket system worked, and suggested different places we might want to visit. We met Hiromi in Tennoji for a wonderful introduction to Japanese (and Osaka) food. Hiromi made sure that for two octogenarians the distances between venues were relatively short although we did find ourselves slowing down as we took on board more food and drink! We would never have found on our own the restaurants she took us to. The highlight though for us was Hiromi herself. The opportunity to chat with a local about all sorts of things was for us the highlight of the tour.A memorable evening with Hiromi

The joy of our time with Hiroki was he was totally flexible. We met him on our first evening in Osaka and we wanted to get oriented in this large city. He was able to help us use an ATM, show us how to buy train tickets ,shop for groceries, point out the sort of shops that would interest us and he took us for a meal in a busy part of the city Along the way he was able to answer lots of questions about Japanese life, especially for a young person.
