A Magical Evening in Santiago: City Tour in Santiago - Santiago_Night_tour.jpg

Santiago shines under a different light at night, and it's worth exploring it on a private city tour. Get ready to discover the city's authentic evening state because the locals and the main highlights come out to play as the sun sets.

As the soft evening light falls across the city's sights, follow your local host to discover Plaza Camillo Morin, Patio Bellavista, and other major spots. Your host will point out some of the details you might have missed in each stop as they reveal themselves during the evening lights and around a less touristy crowd. With the main highlights of Santiago illuminated, your perspective of the city will be different as it was during the day.

Take advantage of the cooler, calmer evening and discover where the locals gather to unwind. And just because your tour ends doesn't mean your night does too. Keep it going with local recommendations of where to go in Santiago at night. Enjoy a Empanadas de Pino before saying goodbye to your host and enjoy the rest of your night in Santiago like a local.

The local hosts are natural storytellers, each one with a different background ranging from arts to history. They can't wait to share some of their unique stories and personal anecdotes with you! Feel like changing the route a bit? No problem, the hosts will be happy to personalize the tour to your wishes and make their city your city!

This is the plan

  4. Take it Easy

As the sun sets, the tourist crowds take a break, and the city goes back to its local filled atmosphere. Take in the local hustle and bustle as you move from stop to stop in a relaxed manner - in the evening, Santiago it’s for you, and the locals
  5. The Grand Finale

For a night to remember, your local host has left a great stop ‘til last. Whether it is a panoramic view of Santiago with a sunset in the background or a stop at a lively local hotspot for a Empanadas de Pino, your tour will end on a high note!
  6. Where the Locals Go

Keep your night going after saying goodbye to your host - there’s plenty of fun things to do in Santiago at night! Your local host will share with you up to date recommendations of where to go, what to do, and where to grab a bite after hours

Melissa took us to so many cool spots in beautiful Santiago. She has very impressive knowledge of the history and culture of the area that really enriched our understanding and enjoyment of the city. Melissa is so kind and fun and provided one of the highlights our our South American adventure. In my book Melissa herself is truly the “best part of Santiago.”Best Part of Santiago

We had an incredible time on the 10 Tastes of Santiago tour with Cristobal! We tried so many delicious local foods—sopaipillas, empanadas, completos, seafood stew, and more—and everything was fantastic. Cristobal was such a wonderful guide and even better company. He’s clearly passionate about his country, and we really enjoyed hearing his personal story and learning about Chilean culture through his eyes. Highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting Santiago!Such a great afternoon with Cristobal!

Amalia was one of the best tour guides we have used at WithLocals. She knew about the history of Santiago, took us to some overlooked sites that are important to Chile's history (e.g. Morande 80, plaques on the ground at Plaza de Armas), and answered any questions we had. She also gave us great recommendations for lunch. She conversed perfectly in English.Amazing time with Amalia!

Our private group. of 4 had a wonderful time exploring sights and tastes of Santiago. Two had been to Santiago many times but never had the occasion to see the historical parts and really enjoyed it. Cristobal is so knowledgeable about food, history and daily life in Chile. We usually go with Viator or Devour, but found WithLocals to be a great insider resource. One of us requested an unusual seafood at our Central Market meal and Cristobal made it happen. Also, the price was amazingly reasonable for everything we had to eat.A guide who makes Santiago come alive

My favorite way to learn about a new city and country is a food tour. Food = culture. Pablo was the perfect guide to lead us on a food tour where we ate with and like locals. Pablo provided us with a view into local Chilean food, culture, music and architecture. We went places we never would have discovered on our own. We talked for hours and learned so much. The Vega Central market experience was a highlight. I would highly recommend. Eat like a local!

Had an enjoyable and enriching time with Pablo. The tour was a good balance between showing us local spots, sharing the history and more importantly giving a wholesome context about Santiago. He was open to all our questions and actually customized some things (like taking us to a subway and 3 different stations) based on what we had done and not done. We finally had a lunch with him over a hearty local meal and good conversations. That sums it up - highly recommend Pablo as a guidePablo made it special

We were very disappointed with this food tour The first three tastings were a piece of fruit from three different stalls which he peeled, cut up and we shared The fourth was olives from a stall, Pablo then took some cheese out of his bag and gave us a small slice. We then went to the fish market - the area did not feel safe, I had to carry our small rucksack in front of me, my wife had to walk between the guide and me, the atmosphere was oppressive and we saw raw chicken legs and raw fish being sold out of black bags on the pavement We then went to a fish restaurant in the fish market and had three dishes. Pablo did not explain what they were, he got us one tin of beer and this was divided between the three of us, he then went off and made a phone call for 25 mins - the food was not edible and we left it. We said we did not want to continue the tour and to take us near our hotel where we felt safer. He asked if my wife liked ice cream and if I liked coffee. So he got us one ice cream and one coffee. This tour is not in a suitable area for tourists, and the food was not worth the money. Not a suitable tour for tourists

Amalia is an excellent and engaging guide considering carefully the weather and the fact that I had just come off intercontinental flight to plan a Santiago tour over 1 1/2 days. She was friendly helpful, knowledgeable and an engaging partner as we toured the city. She responded to how I was feeling on the tour and that level of responsiveness was excellent. Her suggestions for lunch and shopping were very good and I had a delightful time in Santiago with Amalia.Extra day tour

We thoroughly enjoyed our tour with Pablo, he exceeded our expectations. Pablo packed so much into our few hours, and such diverse collections of experiences from history to art, to climbing a mountain to yummmy food. Our favorite was trying the BEST cheese empanadas in Santiago. Thanks so much for the amazing experience, we look forward to coming back to Santiago soon! Amazing local experience with Pablo

Cristobal is was warm, engaging and insightful, and showed us where the locals shop in the Santiago markets - rather than where the tourists traditionally go. The food was delicious - exceptional coffee from a market vendor we would never have found - and the main meal reflected a Chilean local lunch - exactly what we wanted to experience. We thoroughly enjoyed the tour, and learnt a great deal about life in Santiago as well as enjoying the food. Great insights into local Santiago food

They say if you really want to understand a place its soul, its scars, its rhythm you sit down and eat with its people. Bourdain said that, and damn if he wasn’t right. I landed back in Santiago under the cover of night, checked into some no-frills motel with flickering neon and just enough hot water to remind you you’re still alive. A few hours of sleep, then straight into the streets with Pablo my guide, my local compass, my translator for the Chilean chaos I was about to dive into. We walked. We ate. We walked some more. Santiago unfolded itself in layers old colonial bones wrapped in graffiti, street vendors slinging empanadas like they were dealing secrets. Pablo told me stories of dictators, poets, and late night revelers. He laughed when I mentioned going out after midnight. You gringos are either brave or stupid he said. Maybe both. Day and night here are two different animals. By day, it's a sun-drenched canvas of history and hustle. By night, it hums with something raw, something electric and slightly dangerous. I got my steps in. I got my fill. And in between bites, I got just a little closer to understanding this city.Full belly, open eyes

We had Pablo on a Tuesday at noon in an area that was known for nightlife. We thought we would be sampling food also. That was not the case but Pablo was able to quickly pivot and provide us with an AWESOME experience and we bonded well. Knowledgable and a smooth delivery. Many off the beaten path experiences were great. Very good English. Highly recommend.Pablo my man!

Leckere Erfahrungen

Wife and I throughly enjoyed our experience with Pablo. Very personable, knowledgeable, and treated us so well. Took extra care looking after my wife, presenting her a couple of unexpected gifts. The fruits, cheese, olives, etc were incredible. Wife wanted to purchase a few of the fruits we had tasted for our time at our AirBnb. Pablo covered the cost of them. The lunch of Chilean dishes were so good. Pablo provided the names of the dishes again so that during our others days we could order them. Very much enjoyed our time with a real professional and our taste buds are screaming for more. Thank you Pabo for sharing your county with us. Outstanding foodie experience in Santiago

We booked this food tour for the last day of our vacation in Santiago. The food itself was fantastic but the shining star of the show was our guide Pablo. We went to a local market and sampled from many stalls, olives, avocado, fresh fruits that I had never heard of before but were all fantastic! The market itself was such a neat experience and probably a place we would not have gotten to see without a guide - this is really where the locals shop! Pablo has great local knowledge and can tell you both the history of the area and of the market and the vendors themselves. He seems to know many of the vendors personally. We then had a sit down lunch and sampled three local dishes before setting out for some dessert. All fantastic food! Highly recommend this tour. Totally worth it!

We have enjoyed many food tours in many cities and this one was far less than expected for two reasons. First, the guide, Pablo, immediately upon meeting us, shared that he had accepted the invite outside of the website to host two other guests and asked us if this would be ok. We had no ability to reasonably object and as we learned he had already committed to hosting them and they were in transit already. This was improper conduct. Second, the actual tour was far less than it could or should have been. We were not given a chance to taste a 'completo' which is the national street food even though the place he wanted to take us for tasting was not open and a completo place was adjacent and open. He had us walk in a market and taste a few items but passed others and then had us sit in a restaurant and taste truly terrible food. It was really bad. Further, during the lunch he was supposed to host he left us and spoke on his phone for about 35 minutes. Overall the tour was very disappointing and the conduct of Pablo less than expected. I personally communicated with Pablo about our concerns using what's app and he feigned ignorance about this and because of this conduct I am sharing this review as this conduct should not have occurred.Disappointing Tour

Cristobal was extremely accommodating. Our hotel was near enough to the tour area that he suggested meeting at our hotel. This meant that we could sit comfortably in the lobby until you were all gathered together, and he could give us an overview of the Food Tour. There were nine of us and that’s a lot. He gave us advice about how to conduct ourselves in a safe manner and asked one of us to be last and keep track of the group. Having said that, I felt that the area we were in was very safe. The variety and quality of food was exceptional. I had made a list of foods that I wanted to try in Chile and the food tour covered nearly every one of them. It’s difficult with such a large group, but Cristobal made a point of engaging each of us individually and answering any questions that we had. Needless to say, we enjoyed the food and drinks very very much. I highly recommend taking this food tour and, if he is available. Have Chrisobal conduct the tour. We were expecting a food walking tour through a neighborhood, visiting local restaurants, but was really a market tour with lunch included. We did visit many shops in the market and sampled a number of items. Asked Pablo for some of the fruit we sampled and instead of getting it from the vendor where we sampled the fruit, he waited until we were out of the market and bought from a street vendor and unfortunately all the fruit he bought for us was spoiled and we had to discard it. Pablo was great, very informative but the description should be changed to market food tour. Market walk

Cristobal knows a great deal about Santiago history and culture. During our three hours together he imparted lots of knowledge to us about Chile. We walked to the local fish market for ceviche, fish broth, and pictu sours. From there we went to a fast food joint for a completo. We enjoyed a sweet peach and wheat drink before having lunch of empanadas, corn pies and fried wheat bread. All yummy and authentic. A great finale to our time in Santiagowe walked, we ate, and we walked
