It was an unusual pick as a tour for the eternal city, but we don’t regret it. The focus was on the Trastevere and the jewish ghetto. Simone was immensely knowledgeable, very friendly, a true local who took us through the small streets and highlights, saying poems at several places. We enjoyed the 3 hours and we recommend booking this tour if you are already familiar with the city.A different way of enjoying Rome

I didn’t really know what to expect but was very pleasantly surprised by Simone. He’s very personable, responsive and accommodating. As a professional actor in local stages he delivers the poems in the Roman dialect that you will not get by just reading them. Each spot he has a different poem and by authors in various style, high and low. It’s a brand new way of looking at ordinary and extraordinary Roman lives we tourists don’t usually get. If you have seems the main attractions and are interested in learning more of the culture I would recommend. Also there is a great gelato break! A unique perspective of Rome

We signed up for Simone’s Poem tour as we basically wanted to “hear more and see less” about this wonderfull city, Rome. We had been to Rome few times before, did the usual tourist things, seen it all, but never really experienced it with real stories and history. From the moment we met with Simone in Trastevere we were taken on a journey. We went back in time, back to the old Rome. What a great trip that was! During the 2,5 hour walk, we made frequent stops at important locations, listened to the wonderfull poems which provided the perfect sketch of various scenes, going back in time, as if you were literally there. We walked the tour in a very relaxed pace, pefectly timed ! We really recommend to sign up for a tour with Simone if you too want to really experience the wonderfull history of Rome! Simone was a fantastic guide. He showed me so many hidden gems that gave me a chance to further explore later in the day and during my remaining days in Rome. He is very knowledgeable about the history of Rome and is very personable. His kickstarter tour was a perfect start to my vacation! There is so much to see in Rome that a walking tour, especially with Simone is the best way to get acquainted with the city. We happen upon a ceremony that was dedicated to the tomb of the unknown soldier and we stayed to watch the ceremony. It was very moving. Simone knows all the back way and how to avoid the crowds. We had a lovely evening with Simone on the Kickstart Culinary tour. It was lovely to find some family run eateries and sample their delicious food. We had to make changes to our tour due to plane timetable changes and Simone was very accommodating. He was very engaging with our group and the local vendors. I don’t know, maybe I was hoping for a Stanley-Tucci-type tour, with some sit down and some choices. The guide was great and friendly, but he took us to some “street” places, that were mostly barren of other guests. We started out with a child-sized portion of lasagna that was okay. Then a fried item with rice inside that was also okay. The highlight was a mom and pop deli with great tastes, but I had to specifically ask for something sharp and not just plain. I offered to pay extra for some blue cheese (he must get a lot of boring clients, because he seemed surprised we wanted some different tastes). We had some “street pizza”, which again was just a pizza shop with no customers and was… okay. We had so-so gelato from a friend’s store and I had a shot of grappo, which was good. I would think he would ask us ahead of time for our likes and dislikes, and we were never offered anything to drink. Basically, we got about 25€-worth of food. I liked the idea of helping locals, and we tipped him well since he was very kind and engaging, but I wouldn't reserve this tour again.Great Guide, but Ask Questions

I think if you not from Italy or used to the food you can get there one can often walk past many items without knowing what you have just missed out on. Simone spent the morning with us showing as around his old hood and sharing stories of his family/childhood and then relating them back to the eateries/markets etc that we visited. Turn up with empty stomachs and if you doing it in summer time make sure you book early AM or later afternoon - it's too hot to do this experience from midday to say 4pm. Simone was a wonderful tour guide. My children (aged 10, 12 and 14) thought the best of all time and he is definitely the best in Rome. We did many tours and Simone was the highlight of our trip. He was so engaging, getting the kids interested in history and the many secrets and secret places we never would have found. He showed us where to find the most delicious food and told us interesting stories about everything on our “treasure hunt” around Rome and stories about everything we pointed out too. Simone did a wonderful job of engaging our kids while also sharing the history of Rome. We definitely experienced a different type of tour with Simone and were grateful that it was not the same tourist garble repeated. For example, we learned not just about the coliseum but about the armory used at different times. Our younger daughter found the "find the building" activity engaging. Simone was accommodating to our pace and at the end he was extremely flexible to end the tour at a different location if we desired. Great tour

We had two tours with Simone, the City Tour and the Food Tour. Both were great. Simone is very friendly, very flexible, and very knowledgeable. He took time to explain the history of each place and is a good engaging story teller. He moved our food tour to Campo de Fiori because the Vatican market was closed on Sunday, and introduced us to different foods based on what we liked. Simone is a nice guy but not quite funny as he represents himself here. Maybe it wasn't his day, or he had some prejudice since we are from Serbia (country of much hated footbal clubs according to Simone. Note!!! This is only my interpretation based on some small talk, doesn't mean it's a true), but we didn't experience any hidden jam. All we saw was actually every tourist and touristy site ever possible in Rome. So this review is for Simone to improve himself or for others to not expect anything extraordinary.
