My wife and I have been wanting to experience this for a long time and when we saw the opportunity, we knew we had to do it. We couldn't have picked a better host. Maria Gloria, Francesco, and Donnatella were very warm and welcoming. We enjoyed some of the best food Rome has to offer alongside some of the best company you can ask for. There was such a familiar feeling, it was as if we were visiting family friends or relatives for dinner. My husband and I went on a three (3) week trip to Italy, Greece & and the Greek Islands and this dinner with Maria Gloria, Francesco & Donatella was the BEST EXPERIENCE we had in Rome!!! Truly the "Cherry on Top”!!! Maria Gloria had visited my home town of New Orleans, Louisiana a few weeks before we joined her for dinner and she gave me the biggest welcome! She was wearing a New Orleans T-shirt that said “Laissez Les Bons Temps Rouler!” (Let the good times roll) and Mardi Gras beads! :-D What a fun and special way to welcome me to her home and culture…by including a little piece of my culture. This, and our three wonderful and charming hosts made both my husband and I feel like we were having dinner with friends! There were wonderful roman bites of appetizers that included a kind of breaded meatball with an olive inside…so yummy. The two pasta dishes were two of the five traditional “Roman” pasta dishes. Let me tell you, being a Foodie from New Orleans and a lover of all Italian food from the North of Italy to Sicily, this was some of the most authentic and delicious Italian/Roman food that I’ve ever had! One of the pasta dishes was made with “Guanciale”- pork cheeks, in a red sauce. It was simply “Out of this World Good”! I wound up eating some of my husband’s dish after gobbling mine up so quickly. You simply can’t get this kind of amazing Roman Home Cooking from just anywhere. You have to go to a Roman Home…that just happens to have two cheese and food professionals cooking and joining you for dinner. What a treat to be able to watch a couple of the dishes being made from scratch with just a few simple, high quality ingredients, that Francesco then turned into culinary Magic! I grew up in the kitchen and always feel so comfortable being there and a part of the cooking process. Of course there was delicioso vino/wine all night and the absolute best Tiramisu I’ve ever had. I had stopped ordering Tiramisu at restaurants because I just couldn’t get that essential flavor and texture experience that the dish should have. This Tiramisu had a perfect balance of flavors and was so light…like having desert on a cloud. The best I’ve ever eaten by far. Francesco and Donatella own a cheese shop so the cheeses and meats were available all evening. For a super cheese lover like me, I could not have been in the company of better people…or better cheese. There was so much variety of delicious cheeses & meats that Donatella had to wrap up all that was left so I could take them with me. Do yourself a favor and have an “Authentic Roman Home Dinner” experience with Maria Gloria, Donatella and Francesco! Wonderful welcoming people who make not only incredible food but make for a charming evening with lovely people. Molto Bene! We had a wonderful evening with Maria Gloria, Francesco and Donatella! Our motivation for choosing this dinner was the promise of authentic Italian food, and they delivered on that. One of the most delicious dishes was the Roman classic, cacio e pepe, and they explained and demonstrated the technique for making it. But just as wonderful as the food was the experience of being with these three. It was like sharing a meal with old friends, even though we had just met them. We chatted away with ease about all sorts of things, and we were sorry when we realized it had gotten so late that it was time to bid them goodbye. I dont even know where to start! The moment we walked into the door it was filled with amazing smelled from the kitchen topped with kindness and warmth,! We brought our 1.5 year old to the dinner and everyone was so patient with him wanting to play and explore. If we had to base off his review he would give it a FIVE STAR RATING NIGHT! He ate everything! It felt like we were just visiting family. NOW THE FOOD! I visited this excursion on my Honeymoon. Maria and her friends made us feel welcomed. To give insight we met at her house. She provided the address. We had to take a train to the closest stop and then walked about 10 mins to get home. We got acquainted immediately and felt right at home. From the start of the evening until we hugged goodbye we had an amazing evening. The hospitality, the food, the people we met, Maria Gloria, Donatella, Francesco, could not have been more welcoming. The food was fantastic, the wine was delicious, we even got a doggie bag to go. The conversation flowed as if we knew each other for years.
