Brian gave us an amazing tour taking us to many places we would never had visited without the knowledge of a local. Brian's passion for food really shows! He gave a fantastic explanation of each dish and was very easygoing company. Highly recommend!Excellent Tour for Foodies

We had a fabulous time with Brian who went out of his way to show us some incredible Vietnamese food. All the spots he took us to were off the beaten track and all of them highlighted a different type of noodle or main ingredient. Come hungry because you will need plenty of room for all the delicious bites Brian provides! Definitely recommend doing this tour at the beginning of your visit to Hanoi so you can eat like a local for the rest of your stay!Amazing Food Tour with Brian

Brian was the perfect host. Showing us the tucked and also out-in-the-open gems! Explaining the history of the region whilst having so much knowledge about the food as well.
We were able to then have confidence navigating the vast food scene in Hanoi and visiting some of the eateries again as they were sooooo good!
Brian was a pleasure to spend the afternoon with- definitely doing again when we go back!!Best experience- a MUST DO!!

Loved this walking foodie tour of Hanoi. Brian was an incredible host and his passion for food was evident from the moment we met. Hanoi really is a foodie paradise and I highly recommend this experience. Perfect final stop for coffee with view over the lake. Brian took us on a 3 hour tour around hanoi tasting all of the best local treats and dishes. He filled us in on the history of the dish and how it varies from the different regions of the country. A great mix of history, food history, and great personal stories from his time in the city. The tour was wonderfully curated! We even decided to do a second tour with him. Most unique food tour yet

Brian was a ball of energy and sped through everything like lightning! He knew exactly what he was doing and where he was going and was super outgoing, excited and passionate about the tour even though it was just me and him. Even though he was feeling a little under the weather, he breezed through the tour like a pro and was game to talk about anything.
Be sure to watch out for his magic bag of stuff - I was surprised to see one thing after another pulled out of his bag of tricks. The only thing he didn't pull out was a rabbit, haha.
If you can keep up with his bullet train speed through of stuff, you'll be just fine in his hands. His energy was great, so do give him a chance to play host while you're in Hanoi :) Ball of energy!

We had three Tours with Brian! All of them were great but the "Culinarian Highlight Tour Hanoi" was the best of best. Brian really takes care about the places, restaurants and bars he is choosing. In just one evening you get phantastig insights in restaurants and places you would never find yourself on a short trip to Hanoi. He has a lots of experience and information he loves to share.
Besides that Brian helped us to organize the transportation from the norther Vietnam-Laos Boarder point to Hanoi for a 37 people group! That was quite a challenge but Brian found a solid solution on a fair budget. Thanks a lot for your help Brian, otherwise we proably would have gone stuck on our way...
We highly recommend Brian as a tourguide and for all organisation of individual or group Travel in Vietnam (and around the world because he not only knows Vietnam like his own pocket).Phantastic tours and a great organizer

I had a great food tour with Brian during my stay in Hanoi. I specially asked if we could adjust the tour for a vegetarian and Brian had no issues accommodating. We were still able to have tons of local Street food as he requested no meat adjustments for me. The food was great. You will have a large variety of food from traditional breakfast items to lunch and dessert items. He was very knowledgeable on the people and culture. You will have great company the entire time while you enjoy good food. Amazing experience that I would recommend for food, learning about the area, and great conversation. One piece of advice is don’t eat before the tour as you will want to save room for all the delicious food you will be trying.Very tasty food tour

4 hours filled with fun, history, interesting conversations, and oh, did I mention absolutely delicious local 🥘?! Extremely professional and highly knowledgeable and prepared. If I had to squeeze out a complaint(s), I wish I had starved myself before the tour because between food brought by Brian and 5/6 stops, I was just stuffed. And Brian should raise prices for the tour! :)Absolutelt a gem

I did this tour on my 1st official day in Hanoi and it did not disappoint. The pacing of the tour was perfect, which in my opinion is very difficult to do. There was never a lull within the allotted time nor did I feel rushed at any point. Brian was extremely knowledgeable about Hanoi's history and culture and gave me some great tips on how to navigate Hanoi as a newcomer. The food was delicious, we didn't have to wait for tables at any of the places that we visited. This tour helped me make the most of a short visit to Hanoi. I enjoyed it greatly - so much that I ended up booking the Motorcycle Tour.

This was a fantastic tour I would highly recommend. The food was amazing and Brian had a great knowledge of the background to the food, Hanoi and the whole area. What was great was that Brian had a lovely assistant going ahead of us, organising tables, food, delivering food from places too far to walk etc. This made for a very smooth tour. I would recommend this tour to anyone visiting Hanoi, as you will see and eat things you could not find yourself. Fantastic tour

Our family of 2 adults and 3 children took Brian's evening street food tour of Hanoi which proved to be an excellent experience and a great introduction to Vietnam cousine.
During the tour which lasted over 4 hours, we sampled over 30 different meals and beverages in the Hanoi old quarter. Brian proved to be an excellent and knowledgable host, not only explaining us the meals we ate but also shared numerous stories from Vietnam's past and present in order to get more understanding of the country and the culture. As a bonus note, Brian's assistant Linh went to the places where we sampled the food ahead of us in order to save us seating places / tables. We liked the tour and the food so much that we kept returning to some of the places during our stay in Hanoi.
In short, excellent experience and fully recommended

My wife and I had just arrived in Vietnam and Brian was our kickstarter in Hanoi of our roundtrip.
In short: highly recommended food / walking tour through the Old Quarter of Hanoi touching upon the highlights of the country’s history.
In an lively, engaging way, Brian showed us around Hanoi’s Old Quarter, took us along Hanoi / Vietnam history, and showed us everyday’s life of a local.
Brian took us to numerous spots, offering us dishes & drinks and places we would normally not try out. But we had a blast!
Don’t eat too much upfront and definitely don’t plan on going out for dinner afterwards. You’ll be taken care of it all!Great food & walking start of Hanoi

We thoroughly enjoyed this tour. It was very well organised and planned out, Even down to having a second person going ahead on a scooter to each location to make sure everything was all set up!
Brian has been living in Hanoi for sometime so was able to give us a really interesting walking tour as we moved to each location. A great bonus is that he's also been a chef so was able to give us some great tips about what to try back home as well as talking to us about the flavour combinations and cooking styles that we tried on the day. Yesterday we did the "Food adventure by foot" with Lan. The tour was perfect organised! Each new taste was preceded by an introductory story, in that way we rolled from one taste into another.
Lan is an enthusiastic narrator, her English is very good. We've learned a lot about culture, history, local life, food,...
Time flew because everything was organized so well. There was another lady on the scooter who always ordered our food / prepared our table / ...
A wonderful way to get to know the city/the country! We loved it, thank you Lan!

We had a great time with Brian on our tour this week. The food was amazing, it was really well organized, and you get a dash of Vietnam history as well. It was so interesting to learn about the influences of other cultures on the Vietnamese cuisine yet it still has its own distinctive flavours and flare. The food here just isn't what I imagined when I thought of street food. Everything is super fresh and flavoured with vibrant herbs to please the senses: sight, taste, and smell. Touring through the markets you get to see where all the delicious ingredients are purchased and how the local people handle their grocery shopping., which is quite different from western culture. It was so interesting!
I believe you learn so much more about a culture when you eat the food where the locals go but it's even better when you can get an explanation from someone living here. Brian has been visiting and living in Vietnam for years and brings a unique perspective to the food scene here; it was great to visit his favorite spots.
Some of his favorite dishes weren't available in the area we were in. It was an awesome surprise for a young lady to pop up and meet us on a scooter with some special dishes that were must haves. This food coordinator was like a smiling food fairy bringing great surprises packed specially for us. It was a particularly nice touch.
At the end of the tour I was full, full, full, and felt like I had a great sampling of the dishes around town. Don't dare eat breakfast and you might even think about skipping dinner the night before to pack away all the great stuff you're going to sample on this tour.
Clearly I highly recommend this. It is worth your time and your money! Go eat, and be merry! A Taste of Hanoi - Food Adventure by Foot

Brian's motorbike tour is ideal for everyone who enjoys good food, a trip off the beaten track and who is up for some real Vietnamese-style traffic. Brian and his employees take you safely through Hanoi's incredibly crazy traffic, stopping at interesting landmarks, where Brian lets you in on all the stories and details, you wouldn't get to know otherwise. All the way around beautiful West Lake you get to try typical Vietnamese food and drinks at different stops, which will make you a fan of the Vietnamese cuisine right away! It definitely made my taste-buds want more!
And those who love taking fotos will not be disappointed either. Brian knows all the good spots for taking stunning fotos and the tour is timed to give you a great view of the sunset. So pack your camera and appetite and prepare for a fun afternoon at the shores of West Lake!A Taste of Hanoi - Food Adventure by Foot

This tour is one of the best experiences I have ever had, with lots of stories, foods and emotions along the way around 36 old quarters of Hanoi.
He gave me an insight into every site we went by, history of Dong Xuan market, old quarter and Hanoi culture in general. We have a variety of streets starting with “Hang”, followed after by something that is sold on that street, very interesting! He showed me some French architecture that is maintained until now. Some off the beaten track places he took me to deeply reminisce me about the childhood(the railway road!)
Especially, Brian has a real passion for Vietnamese food. His knowledge for food is even more surprising me than for the history of Hanoi (history is something you can learn from book, but cuisine is something you have to taste and experience it yourself). He designs tour for the aim of making your stomach full with most awesome Hanoi street food. We tasted over 30 different dishes ranging from Hanoian breakfast, Hanoian lunch, Hanoian drinks, Hanoian snack to Hanoian dinner. Thanks to his food coordinator – Ms. Nhat, the tour runs really smoothly and time-saving. Brian also introduced about the fresh ingredients of the food, how they make it balanced with Yin and Yang theory. The street foods he treated us all are prepared by most famous addresses in Hanoi. So you will definitely become a genuine Hanoian after being with Brian just in half a day.
One more time, almost nothing I can change about the tour, such a well-organized tour with great-sense-of-humor guys. Thank you so much, Brian and NhatA Taste of Hanoi - Food Adventure by Foot

Things run smoothly with Brian’s motorbike tour.
Each of travellers will be taken care of by an experienced local tour guide, Brian is the leader of that driver team.
You will have the chance to discover 4 km ceramic street, Brian will talk about the meaning of these mosaic pictures, there are so many stories for you to listen to.
The time we depart is ideal for the sunset in Long Bien bridge, the witness of Hanoi history for the last 100 years and in West Lake. The sunlight is perfect for taking pictures, so do not forget to bring a good camera along!
He chooses some of the typical Hanoi cuisine around West Lake (Pho Cuon, Bo Bia, Kem Ho Tay, Bia Hoi) for us to taste, all of them are delicious.
We have a drive around West Lake – 17.4 km long, stop at some famous sites (Chu Van An high school, Tran Quoc Pagoda, Flying Dragon site, Tay Ho temple) and enjoy ourselves at a romantic coffee shop by the lake.
Really worth a try if you want to discover scenery destinations off the beaten track of Hanoi.A Taste of Hanoi - Food Adventure by Foot

This was my second trip to Hanoi and my partner and I spent an evening with Brian on his walking tour. Great guy who is very knowledgeable about Vietnamese history. First stop was a roof top bar with views across the city. We then explored local street food vendors trying the infamous Banh Mi, a chicken and rice dish and grilled quail eggs. Without Brian’s recommendations we probably wouldn’t have stopped at these place. They were definitely popular with locals and worth a stop . We also visited a quirky bar serving a flaming Pho cocktail and then onto the Pasteur Craft Beer bar to try out a beer flight of three local beers. The passion fruit and Jasmine IPA’s were the favourite. We would definitely recommend the tour with Brian. Great way to spend and evening in Hanoi

A must do tour to get a quick snapshot of Hanoi! Very informative and Brian was a wonderful guide! Great way to see Old Town.
Brian suggested we change our meet time to earlier so we could get an amazing view of the sunset from the highest roof top bar in Hanoi (Skyline) . We sat at a lovely vantage point started with a Hanoi beer and Brian gave us his intro and some history about Vietnam and the new trending rooftop bars that have popped up since Covid.
We then walked the Old Quater and stopped at a Bahn Mi place and had some Bahn Mi and Viet Coffee, this is one of Brian’s fave spots and we could see why. The Bahn mi bread was light and fluffy and crunchy. The flavours were very yummy and their housemade chilli sauce was a standout for me.
The coffee was a thick condensed milk coffee, I didn’t really like the texture but my husband loved it and drank both of ours.
We continued on and walked and talked, Brian showed us some of the most narrow laneways and living quarters of Old Town and delved into the history of the bomb shelters and the many families that lived in the small locations.
We then stopped at another street food stop which Brian said did the best Nam Gha in town. We had 2 dishes one was a chicken salad and the other was a soy chicken and rice. Both were very tasty.
Next stop was a very cool bar were we went to try the famous Pho Cocktail, the experience was very cool and to see how the mixologist infused the gin with the 3 spices of Pho - cardamom, cinnamon and star anise over very hot heat and then served ice cold in a Pho Bowl with all the toppings. The flavours were amazing and it really was like having a cold alcoholic pho. Delicious
We continued on and walked and talked with a stop at another fave of his, saying they were one of the only places serving this dish in Hanoi, we loved the little dogs at this stop and we sat watched the old man make our food - it was a tiny omelette style made of quail eggs, butter, sliced green onions, crispy shallots and sausage topped with a pork floss. I was a bit hesitant but it was absolutely delicious, like something I had never tried before so I am glad Brian showed us this.
We ended our tour at a craft beer stop at Pastuer Bee, Brian got us some paddles of their standouts and his favourites and for craft beer drinkers he was on point - we had a Passionfruit Wheat Ale, a Jasmine IPA and a Nitro Irish stout. They were all outstanding, I’m not a stout gal but I really liked the stout so I was impressed.
We said our goodbyes and thanks Brian and we really had such a good night and a great snapshot of where to head next. Thank you Brian

Day one in Hanoi and we were hot, bothered and overwhelmed but Brian magically steered us through this chaos with information about Vietnam’s history and culture as well as taking us to what seemed like dozens of restaurants and street stalls. Brian was able to explain the cooking processes and ingredients of the extensive array of dishes we tried. He tailored the tour to our food preferences to ensure we were comfortable with his menu choices. He’s also a great conversationalist, so after my wife finished with the foodie questions we were able to cover many other topics while sampling Hanoi’s many delights. We did the east meets west motorbike tour as a family with teen and 5yo in December. Brian provides more of an expat’s view of Hanoi, so was great that he arrived with a team of 3 English-speaking lovely local lady guides (Hoa, Linh and Ha) to help bike mum and kids around, and who were able to provide insights into the finer details of local culture and practices.
Much fun traversing the streets of Hanoi and banana island, with brief narratives and stops for creamy yoghurt coffee, roadside Banh Mi with sugar cane juice, ending with traditional Vietnamese lunch by Truc Bach lake. Lots to see and do packed into a few hours perhaps consider a longer day-long tour if you have the time and are not travelling with young children who might be tired out more quickly.
A little apprehensive at first as even the little one would ride pillion on his own, but comforted by fact that even kid-sized helmets are provided and the ride led by experienced and safe riders. One suggestion to improve safety is perhaps to arrange for the bike with youngest to ride in the middle of the entourage and not as the last bike.
Best to ensure your travel insurance covers such activities, and bring a windbreaker/scarf to ward off the cold in winter (face mask too, if sensitive to Hanoi air which can get smoggy/dusty).
Thanks to Brian, Hoa, Linh and Ha for a fun last day Hanoi!Family fun on 1/2 day motorbike tour

Tour was great. Brian obviously has a wide knowledge and love for old Hanoi, it’s history, culture and cuisine. Walk was not arduous although very hot and humid. He took us to places that we probably wouldn’t find or normally enter and introduced us to some very authentic Hanoi cuisine. Highly recommended and good value for money.Snacks, drinks and stories walkong tour.

More about me
I have been working as a tour leader for a travel company for the past 4 years now in South East Asia. I had my contact finish up and than decided to come and live full time up here in Hanoi. So I hope to show foreign travellers some really awesome parts of Hanoi. Both famous and off the beaten path.
