My husband and I enjoyed a great Taco tour in Mexico City with Luz. The tour took place in a quiet neighbourhood outside the city centre, and it was great to eat at a street stall as well as local restaurants (including one included in the Michelin guide). We loved the walking food tour. It was a nice way to establish ourselves in the city, travelling by food, as we had only just arrived in the city. Although I was late, Daniel has waited for me. He took me to the best taquerias in his neighborhood. I must say that each one was even better than the other. Just loved it. Besides, Daniel was such attentive and wonderful. Gave explanations about every thing. I would definitely recommend it. The taste kept in my mouth for hours later. Now I know what to look for. This was one of the highlights of my time in Mexico City. Al took me to some local taco places that I would not have known about and/or felt comfortable trying alone. The food was great, but so was Al's company. I did not expect this to feel so easy! It was like having spending time with a friend, allthewhile eating good food. Al was open, easy to talk to and generous with his time. He was also flexible about moving our meeting time, and was attentive to what preference I might have. Fantastic experience :)

Mariel was an excellent tour guide and took me through the local side streets to experience the true tacos of CDMX. I've been to Mexico City but experiencing this with a local truly elevated the tour. Do yourself a favour and make sure tou book an experience with Mariel, you won't regret it! Please note that the price to value ratio on this tour is not very good...could you go to these 5 places to get tacos and pay approximately 10-15% of the tour price, yes....would you be missing out on a walking tour with an incredible person and helping the local economy, certainly. For us, our. time spent with Daniel really marked the starting point of our stay in Mexico City. Up til that point we hadn't really connected with the city. We were in a bland hotel in the centre, where, unlike most cities, there didnt' seem to be a lot to see in the surrounding streets. Daniel drew us out to Eugenia - an amazing district we would probably not have discovered had it not been for his tour. From the moment we met, we felt at ease in his company and our two and a half hours flew by. He introduced us to a range of street stalls, taco stands and an amazing local food market where we encountered a unique range of foods. If we showed interest in a new fruit or vegetable, a taste was arranged and any preconceptions about taco tastes were blown out of the water as we encountered snacks that mixed tripe in with pork and salsas that were a million miles away from their London cousins. So, the food was great but every bit as interesting was the opportunity to speak to a resident of the country we were visiting and get his take on local politics and life in the city. His English was great and he was able to leave us with loads of suggestions for bars, restaurants and even a goth market . Mariel took us to a neighborhood and taquerias we would have not gone to blindly by ourselves, this stay being our first stay in Mexico City. It was great to go eat tacos where the locals go and to learn more about the Mexican food traditions and habits. Mariel shared a lot with us and answered our numerous questions. Our guide, Mariel was a Narvarte local and knew all the right spots for us to try the different types of tacos. She was great to talk to and was very knowledgeable. We had a pleasant stroll from taco stand to local market to yet another taco stand. Two hours flew by and we had 5 delicious tacos in our belly. Highly recommend Mariel and this tour. We had a great time with Mariel as our taco tour guide. She took us to 5 different taco spots that were very much “locals only”. Each of the tacos were better than the last! She was also extremely accommodating as one of us had a severe nut allergy. She made sure to ask each of the vendors whether they used nuts in their preparation which we very much appreciated. We did the Taco tour with Mariel & had the best experience. Despite having gone to the the wrong meeting point (totally our fault!) Mariel waited for us & continued the tour. We still managed to complete all the stops & everyone agreed the tacos were amazing.
