Sena is a very sweet and knowledgeable tour guide. I am so glad that I booked the sushi and sake tour for me and my husband since we’re only in Tokyo for 2 days. The gyoza, sushi and sake were all delicious and worth it. We asked her for souvenirs and wagyu beef recommendations and she provided us with great ones. Carlos was an excellent guide taking us to a great traditional sushi place as well as having us taste many different varieties of sake. We had a really good experience on our tour of Shibuya, Meiji, Shinjuku and many stops in between, with Abu, our guide for a bespoke tour with food stop at an excellent sushi restaurant in a building I have no idea how to fine again! And that’s kind of the point of doing a Withlocals tour - you can easily go to Shibuya or Shinjuku by yourself but as tourists in a strange land it really helps to have someone like Abu to guide your steps, even if you have first guided his as to where you would like to go, as we did because we have been to Tokyo before, so did not want to be taken to all of the more obvious places. It was a very hot day, so Abu was careful to include stops and frequent visits to air conditioned buildings and to make the occasional detour via a pachinko arcade or a food court to get some cool air and cut off a corner! The sushi was great, and the Sake tasting was too - even though it confirmed my already formed opinion that I just don’t like sake. Sorry Japan, sorry Abu. The walk to Meiji shrine was fun and Abu regaled us with history lessons galore. He also took some great pictures, with his own phone which he sent us and with ours too. Abu is a much better photographer than I am, so we were glad to get these. The other advantage of taking such a tour was all the side tips - a whiskey museum, an entrance to our hotel from a metro line, a metro line to Nakano Broadway that was hard to see on a map, and plenty more little snippets that made our next two days a little easier. Thanks to Abu again for his guidance on a great tour of Tokyo.Great day touring Tokyo with Abu

Abu is such a great guide. He is very knowledgeable and very kind. Abu really showed all sides of Asakusa and some other places, beginning with the market of the old city with some information about the city name and the market temples. After we got some popular and delicious local snacks which were totally not busy at the time. At the end Abu showed us the giant gaming and anime neighborhood of 10 story high game stores which was completely surreal. Abu was not in a hurry to finish the tour, on the contrary, he just wanted to show us all the places that we were interested in and took all the time to take us to there. We will definitely book Abu again if we come back!

Abu was a great guide, made our first full day in Tokyo a much better experience by explaining the history of the sights we were seeing and overall development of the area. He walked us through food and entertainment areas, sharing tips, where to go, and what to avoid, always adding some helpful bit of information or a story as we went along. He showed us shopping areas and stayed with us as we bought some items and where to buy an umbrella we needed for the rain. During our food tour Sena was kind enough to show us some other stores that had items that our kids may have been interested in, and this was clearly beyond expectations. She also took a picture for us, and was conscious enough of the July heat in Japan to route us through air conditioned interior spaces whenever possible. We just completed a private tour with Kennedy this weekend, and it was fantastic. My wife and I are visiting Tokyo for a few days before starting a cruise around Japan, and we wanted to learn how to navigate the train system so we could explore on our own the next day. We also wanted to see some local favorites and hidden gems that we might not have found ourselves. Kennedy met us right at our hotel (which was next to a train station), helped us set up Suica cards, and guided us on using the trains as we toured the city. Her suggested stops were wonderful, and her knowledge of the history and culture made each place even more memorable. What really stood out was Kennedy’s warm personality and great conversation. We felt less like clients on a tour, and more like out-of-town friends being shown around by someone who truly loves Tokyo and wants you to love it too. Sena was amazing! Even before the tour she was getting to know our family through chat. Sena was very communicative and responsive. Even in the busy center of Shibuya, we easily found each other. Our tour was the 'Highlights & Hidden Gems of the Shibuya district' which stared off with a great spot to view the city then off to taste some of the cuisine before heading to the subway. We didn't have our IC cards set up so she was really helpful to get the whole family set up. It was a breeze to get from place to place. From there we had a great visit to a Shinto Shrine and off to see the Harajuku area. Not only was Sera amazing at speaking about each of the stops, she was really friendly to get to know us and tell us about her experiences. She eve helped d us with other spots for our vaction. Sena is a lovely professional who knows all the best places to sample great food in Kichijoji. We finished the tour in Inokashira Park, watching the boating on the pond. I worked my way through some of the treats I’d saved but I still had enough left for my evening meal. This is a great introduction to this area and many new delicacies. Along with unique small local shops in the side streets, Sena showed me the bountiful shopping areas within Kichijoji Station.
