Dubravka was very warm & gave us a great walk through Splits main (& also lesser seen) attractions. She made sure to let us see through a locals eyes the intricacies of the main city centre & what there was to explore outside of those city limits. We snacked on some delicious local food & were told some great stories about the history of the city, mingled with Dubravka’s own lived experiences of growing up in Split. Thank you for a great time! “Dub” was wonderful. We visited only local authenticate places and had the opportunity to taste them all. Along the way we learned a little about the history of the city and heard stories about how her mother would cook the same things we were trying. We communicated with Dubravka prior to taking our walking food tour so our meeting place was convenient for all of us. She knew exactly where to take us to sample “local food” and ignored any of the touristy places or places with long lines. As she had a plan of where we were to go, there wasn’t any wasted time. We were well received at each stop and she knew exactly what to order for us and gave us the history of each food we sampled or the background of the owners. There was a diversity in our stops - different street foods, drinks, sit-down family-style charcuterie and chocolates! It wasn’t just about the food. She also had historical stories for us as we walked around the palace. There wasn’t a street we walked down where another tour guide or restaurant owner didn’t stop and say hello to her. She went out of her way to give us restaurant recommendations in Split and Hvar and helped us with gifts for our grandchildren. Even after our tour, she continued to follow up with us to make sure we arrived at our next location safely! Touring with Dubravka will be a highlight of our trip! We know that we not only spent time with a tour guide, but made a new friend that we hope will visit us in California so we can introduce her to our home!! LOVED touring with Dubravka!!

Our guide, Dube, was phenomenal—warm, knowledgeable, and incredibly passionate about Split. They answered every question with detail and enthusiasm, making the experience feel both personal and enriching. The food journey started at a bustling local market where we sampled dried and sweetened orange rind—an unexpectedly delightful treat. From there, it was a feast for all the senses: party meats made right in the region, briny olives, crunchy almonds, and fresh pita bread set the stage for a deeper dive into Split’s culinary heart. Street food was a highlight—tender pulled beef with pickled onions nestled in warm bread, a rich meat-stuffed pita topped with zesty red sauce and melted cheese, and a crispy, golden fried bread filled with local char. "Dube" was wonderful. We have done a few of these Taste of... tours in various cities; this one was special. The food was varied and delicious and Dube took the time to dive into the history and sites of the palace. At the end, she asked what our itinerary was for the rest of our trip to Croatia and when we got back to the hotel she had sent me detailed suggestions for each of our next stops and invited us to contact her if we ran into any problems traveling or just had questions. Dubravka (Dubi) sure knows Split! Our party of eight adults booked her for the hidden secrets tour and we are so glad we did! Dubi had many, often hilarious, anecdotes about living here as a child and how Split has evolved throughout her lifetime. She took us from the ancient history of the area to modern times in a fun and engaging manner. Her personality and love of her city and country shone through as she walked us through old town and the Palace. She even gave us some “inside” information on where to eat and what to do. Dubravka was an amazing guide!! She was super responsive (even though we booked the night before) and it was easy to link up the next morning. My group had a wonderful time walking around, learning the history of Split and trying a lot of local food. Dubravka made sure there was plenty of diversity in the food. Dubravka begann die Tour an einem Aussichtspunkt, von der wir einen guten Überblick die Stadt hatten und gab bei dieser Gelegenheit auch eine Übersicht über die Entwicklung der Stadt und das Umland. Anschließend gingen wir zu einem gut geplanten Rundgang durch die Stadt. Dubravka hatte an jedem Ort aus ihrem großen Wissensschatz zu den Hintergründen und Geschichte erzählt. Dabei langweilte sie nicht mit Fakten, sondern legte den Schwerpunkt auf geschichtliche Zusammenhänge und Hintergründe für die Entwicklung der Stadt. Der Rundgang endete mit einer Verkostung einer lokalen Süßigkeit und einen gemütlichen Plausch in einem Kaffee. Da wir außerhalb der Saison unterwegs waren hatten wir genug Zeit an den einzelnen Lokationen. Dubravka ist eine charmante Führerin, die Geschichte Splits und Dalmatiens lebendig vermittelt.Kurzweilige und interessante Stadtführung

Dubravka was an excellent guide—knowledgeable and fun to be with! She led our small group through the historical Diocletian Palace. We ate local fare from cafes dating back to Year 400. We may not have seen how alive the Palace becomes at night had we not toured with Dubravka. Food, drink, and candies were excellent at 5 various spots inside and outside the Palace. This was much more than a food tour! Right from the start Dubravka shared really interesting information about the history of Split as well as modern day life. We loved all of her stories and had a great time exploring the Old Town. The food itself was all delicious and there was plenty of it! We tasted such a good variety of things and from amazing local spots that we probably wouldn't have found on our own. we just loved our tour with Duba and the sights, sounds, and tastes of Split. Having a knowledgeable and personable guide made the day less like a tour and more like a “conversation “ with a new friend - one that knew all the best spots to go for local food! We enjoyed all the food we had, were full when we left, and had more snacks and desserts we left with. She even gave us recommendations for our next port stop of Dubrovnik! Thank you Dubravka for being so fabulous & agreeing to meet us for an 8.30am start due to our early arrival back into Split on an early morning ferry. We really enjoyed our time with you & loved the places you took us - as you know the absolute stand outs for us were the worlds best Cevapi from Kantun Paulina, the Burek's (especially the meat one) from St. Burek & the Soparnik from Misto - all outstanding.....& we loved all the other sweet stops as well - we are saving the chocolate for when we get home to Oz! We also appreciated the information you gave us as we walked through the old town of Split & the small bits of info like the Carob tree - we loved learning about the history of those little seeds! Four of us, two seniors and a young couple, spent two weeks in Croatia. This food tour was one of the highlights. But the tour was so much more than just about food. Dubravka had such knowledge of Split and Croatia in general. She entertained us with facts about ancient Split as well as the new Croatia and their increasing tourism and everything in between. And all of this was while we walked, sat, and enjoyed the fantastic food! The food and places were definitely not something we would have researched and found on our own. Most were small authentic Croatian establishments that locals would seek out. You can’t go wrong with Dubravka as your guide! We had a 3 hour tour with Dubravka while we were in Split. She was extremely informative, enthusiastic, and full of interesting facts about Split. She truly made an ancient city come alive for us. We’ve been on many food tours in many cities and this was one of the best. We really enjoyed it. Dubravka is a great tour guide. It is a great tour if you want to see the old town, learn a little bit of history, meander through the streets and eat lots of Croatian food. We had an excellent evening wandering round Split trying different foods in different places. Dubravka did a brilliant job of taking us to places that we wouldn’t necessarily have found on our and accommodating our dietary requirements (one vegetarian, one no seafood/fish). It was great to be able some of the local dishes. The only small downside is that restaurants in Split don’t seem to have fully embraced the concept of food tours yet. Dubravka was an excellent guide full of interesting facts and lots of knowledge about Split and the surrounding area. A fun evening eating in Split
