Heading to Barcelona we wanted to see the settings for a favorite book ‘Shadow of the Wind’ by Carlos Riuz Zafron so we contacted Fiorella who said she could create this personalized tour around the Gothic Quarter. Fiorella showed us some parts of the city that we might not have found on our own and described how some business that were established many years ago have plaques in ground at the entrance to show the date it was established even if the original business is not still there. We met Fiorella for our Hidden Gems tour of Barcelona. The tour was to be at 9:00, but she suggested we start at 10:00 since more ships would be open. Good call! We went to many nice places where she shops, etc. She showed us a Gaudi home right in town that we didn’t see before. We went back to the home and also went back to the stores she showed us. I’m always a bit nervous of tours - so often they are full of tall tales and overly rehearsed stories. And with kids they can feel endless! But Fiorella was the perfect guide. My husband and I have previously visited Barcelona almost 10 years ago. This time, we came back with our sons, ages 14 and 10, to discover so much has changed! Fiorella showed us all of these changes, while introducing the city to our sons with tales about its history and current facts. We especially enjoyed discovering Born, something my husband and I have not been to before, and seeing the remains of previous Roman occupation and the old Barcelona. I would recommend Fiorella, especially if you are a first timer in Barcelona. She took us around the Gothic Quarter and El Born neighborhoods, and did a great job of telling us the history and showing us unique shops and places we definitely would not have found on our own. We had a great time with Fiorella yesterday! She is super sympathetic and adjusted her “kick off tour through Barcelona” to our desires. We didn’t really want a touristic sight-seeing guidance, but tips for nice restaurants, shops and places to go, where locals theirselves like to go.
