We loved our time with Evanthia. She was excellent at communicating with us before to arrange the meeting place. We asked to start 30 min later which she accommodated with no problem or complaint. We loved seeing all the interesting hidden gems of the city center, including the Public Garden and the meat and fish markets. We were grateful to stop for a coffee and rest for a few minutes. Do yourself a favor and hire this guide who started by taking us through the museum after presenting us each with a God’s name. This tour of the Acropolis with Eva was amazing! Eva is such an engaging and fun guide who joins her experience as an archeologist with her expert knowledge of Greek culture and history. She personalized history with both a little Greek drama and comedy. The Acropolis museum was wonderful and we learned so much from the backstories that Eva would tell us about every object. Evanthia was a terrific guide for me and my two sons ages 14 and 13. Of course they weren’t the most excited in the beginning to visit a museum, but Evanthia had ways to keep them engaged. Immediately she gave them each a new name. One was Poseidon and one was Zeus. Then, she would tell the Greek myths, While making them first person players in the myth itself. When we went to different places the boys got new names and became involved in each different myth. It was such a cool way to do the storytelling, very clever. She was positive, upbeat, and very friendly and when I looked around during our time at the Parthenon and saw the other guides, I was very happy to have Evanthia as our guide. I do feel that $300+ was maybe too much to spend, but it was a good experience. I knew this was a once in a lifetime trip with my sons, and I wanted it to be so easy and stress free and to maximize our time. I saved for over a year for this trip and Evanthia’s tour accomplished all of my goals. A Great Experience

Travelling as a family with small children (aged 5, and 7), Eva tailored the tour to suit our needs, including bringing pictures and telling wonderful stories of the Greek mythology which fascinated the kids. I've used Withlocals many times in different countries and this unfortunately was the worse. I've also been on many food tours. And this ranked on the bottom. The first restaurant was very nice the food was good & we tasted orzo. Then we seem to walk around aimlessly thru streets and alleys! We finally stopped to get a Greek donut ( tasty) . We walk around again in silence unless I asked her questions..but No History of anything. She saidnshe was going ti take us to get Greek coffee. We stopped at a cafe & the waitress immediately told her we couldn't sit at the tables! Me, hubby & my friend * her hubby were confused and embarrassed as they began arguing! It was in Greek so no idea what was said. Then we were told to sit but move tables! The waitress went to talk to owner/ manager & then He & Eleni started arguing! We just left! And folknwere staring at us & we were perplexed! It didn't seem like it was racist intent( I,asked) it looked like it was all towards her! We stopped at one more place for coffee. It was NOT A 10 TASTINGS FOOD TOUR! JUST WALKING AIMLESSLY! Disappointed! We didn't say.much elsto her because of jetlag & just wanted to be doneNO! Get someone else

We had a tour of 14 people with Eleni. We were expecting to go to 10 different places but only went to 3. The first place we showed up we had to wait for tables to be put together and they were not ready for us. She ordered about 3 salads, 3 different gyros and a few orders of taziki. The food was good though but over half of us couldn’t hear half of what she was telling us. When we were done there we went to a street vendor and got two orders of loukoumades with different toppings. We then went to a place that had gelato. She walked out with one big tub and a ton of spoons and expected us to share and keep using the same spoons. For each of us paying $55 this seemed to be extremely overpriced and unorganized. Multiple of us felt like we wasted our money. In the end we were trying to get taxis and she ran them off and we ended up having to walk back to the hotel as she was arguing with them all and making the decision on our behalf not asking us if the price for the taxi was ok with us.Unorganized

I was in Athens recently and booked a private tour with ‘withlocals.com’ . This was the first time i used this company. I usually book with ‘toursbylocal’ . Evanthia was my tour guide. She is amazing! I couldn’t have been able to get on the top of the Acropolis without her She took me to a wonderful restaurant for lunch and later fir coffee. I would have loved to see her for additional tours but my time in Athens was limited plus i got tired :) I have found the Greeks to be the friendliest people in Europe and Evanthia was a proof of that! We had an amazing tour of the Acropolis and Acropolis Museum with Evanthia. We were fearful that we would be dragging since we scheduled the tour for the afternoon of our arrival from the US, but she kept the visit lively and interesting. It was no problem staying awake! In addition to providing great insights and historical knowledge about the sights, Evanthia also knew where to take the best photos and to find a bathroom with no lines. What's more, she easily convinced a security guard at the Acropolis to allow us in on a free admission day (meaning you couldn't reserve tickets in advance) when they had already given away all the day's tickets by the time we arrived in late afternoon. (There were no lines and the crowds were small, and we would have been happy to purchase tickets if we could have. It would have been silly for them to send us away, but we never would have gotten in without her!) Highly recommend!Excellent Experience with Evanthia
