Dionysis was our tour guide and was so knowledgeable…he spent 3 hours showing us sites, giving us a history lesson and making recommendations for the rest of our time in Athens. He even bought us some of his favorite street food to try! Highly recommend!!

My sister and I took Eleni's Athens' Hidden Gems & Best Views tour our first morning in Athens. It was a perfect first introduction to Athens and Eleni was a wonderful guide. She modified the tour to start at the square near where we were staying. Eleni chatted easily with us, answering our questions and sharing her insights about the historical background of what we were seeing and the current social and political environment. Her pacing and the tour route were comfortable. We saw neighborhoods that big tours don't get into. I would not hesitate to recommend her and any of her tours. A truly wonderful day with Eleni.

Eleni sent me a message a week or two before saying she could not do our tour, but she would send a friend. He turned up about 15 minutes late and was very tired. He covered the essentials but was not nearly as good as we had expected from Eleni. I expect it would have been better for to have canceled the tour and we could have signed up with an official withlocals.com person. Of course, we did not know.She sent someone else

Eleni gave us a well planned introduction to important parts of Athens, with emphasis on the special history of Athens accompanied by many observations regarding everyday life past and present, and we discussed the social and economic status of Greece anno 2017. We were presented to several cafés and restaurants that we would never have found ourselves, we tasted cold coffee for the first time, and we had a delicate and very inexpensive lunch at a special restaurant close to the meat and fish market! On top of that, Eleni spent much more that the planned 3 hours with us - great thanks to her, and we will definitely use Withlocals again when we visit at new city. I've used Withlocals many times in different countries and this unfortunately was the worse. I've also been on many food tours. And this ranked on the bottom. The first restaurant was very nice the food was good & we tasted orzo. Then we seem to walk around aimlessly thru streets and alleys! We finally stopped to get a Greek donut ( tasty) . We walk around again in silence unless I asked her questions..but No History of anything. She saidnshe was going ti take us to get Greek coffee. We stopped at a cafe & the waitress immediately told her we couldn't sit at the tables! Me, hubby & my friend * her hubby were confused and embarrassed as they began arguing! It was in Greek so no idea what was said. Then we were told to sit but move tables! The waitress went to talk to owner/ manager & then He & Eleni started arguing! We just left! And folknwere staring at us & we were perplexed! It didn't seem like it was racist intent( I,asked) it looked like it was all towards her! We stopped at one more place for coffee. It was NOT A 10 TASTINGS FOOD TOUR! JUST WALKING AIMLESSLY! Disappointed! We didn't say.much elsto her because of jetlag & just wanted to be doneNO! Get someone else
