We had a wonderful day exploring the Atlantic Coast tour with Francisco. He was really friendly and we loved all the inside knowledge he had of the area. He took us to some really unique places and the scenery was just gorgeous as the Portuguese coastline always is! I would definitely recommend this tour to get off the beaten track which is hard to do without the right car, and the jeep was so fun to ride in. Next time I would prefer more of a mix of hiking and maybe less riding but it was fun to be able to hit all of the spots.Awesome Day on the Atlantic Coast

We did a Sintra Jeep tour with Ruben and had an absolutely fabulous day. This was possibly my favorite day of our entire vacation. We loved the combination of experiences that made the day filled to the brim with history, spectacular food, stunning views, and a fun Jeep experience. Ruben was a truly wonderful guide- incredibly knowledgeable about the history, vegetation, and life in this part of Portugal. He struck a perfect balance of casual and laid back yet professional and informative. The lunch was one of our favorite meals of the entire trip as well. We booked this tour at the beginning of June for our family of 6: grandma, grandpa, dad, mom, a teenager and a 5-year old. Nelson was amazing everyone second of the tour! Portugal was at the beginning of our European vacation and after being in many tours in 2 other countries I can honestly say this was the best and was worth every single penny. From the company providing a booster seat for my 5-year old, to providing water and sunscreen, to taking us to a local restaurant and just giving us the best overall experience one could ask for. We stayed in Lisbon but wanted to see Sintra and only had 1 day to do so, booking this tour definitely helped us see so much more. Nelson was super knowledgable and answered all of our questions. I will definitely book this tour time and time again when I go back to Portugal! Best Day Trip for our family with Nelson!

Our family of 5 had an amazing day in Sintra with Joao and his open top jeep. from start to finish, it was perfect. He met us at the train station and we hopped in and set off. Sintra is gorgeous; lush and green with beauty around every corner. Joao took us to the Qunita da Regaleira, an amazing palace with gorgeous grounds and gardens, featuring the Initiation Well, based on Dante's Inferno, which was incredible. We viewed a couple more palaces with Joao giving us the history, and then went for a delicious lunch - we all opted for the fresh tuna grilled, with sides and dessert. one of our best meals in Portugal and we love good food! Then some incredible scenery, cliffs, beaches off-roading in the jeep. An amazing way to see Sintra. Joao was a fantastic host and guide and we could nto recommend him more!Fantastic day in Sintra!

We signed up for a safari experience to see Sintra and we got much more than we ever expected. What made it most special was MARIO. My husband and I took the day tour of Sintra visiting Quinta da Regaleira as well other sites riding in the back of a former military 4x4! Our guide Guilherme picked us up right on schedule and we were off to the races. He was beyond knowledgeable and clearly tailored his content to our interests while making sure we got the full experience at all of our stops. His engaging demeanor and desire to get to know us was very appreciated. While I don't want to ruin the mystery, the added lore around our tour was a great value add. The lunch spot was perfectly local with excellent food and the afternoon was spent off-roading with the top off the 4x4 - definitely an experience you won't get on larger impersonal bus tours. If and when we come back to the area we will be booking another tour, hopefully again with Guilherme, and will be recommending this to any friends or family that come to the area.Adventure with History and Mystery

The tour with Francisco was awesome! We saw so many beautiful places in Sintra that we never could have discovered on our own. It was great to avoid the crowds with a knowledgeable and kind local guide. The lunch spot he brought us to was one of the best meals we had on our trip- super local, simple and delicious. This is an experience for those looking to get off the beaten path and see the hidden beauty of the forests and coasts of Sintra. Andres was an excellent and very knowledgeable guide with an extensive grasp of history. He made the trip pass pleasantly. The Palacio de Regeilera was fascinating and Andres was expert at explaining it's history, details, and spirit. Lunch was delicious. The jeep ride was a wonderful open air excursion. The view from Cabo da Roca was fantastic and the beach below was beautiful to visit. Would strongly recommend taking this tour and will ask for Andres on our next visit to Portugal to see the other castles/palaces in Sintra.Fascinating trip

With these sort of experiences it all comes down to planning and execution. Mario and Friends did an excellent job of planning a full authentic experience that appeals to every type of customer. Some like history, some like culture, some like adventure, some like breathtaking views, some like surprises, etc. This experience combines it all. Each part of your day was thoroughly and thoughtfully planned. But planning only takes you so far. You then need to execute. Our guide, Gui, was perfect. He brought energy, enthusiasm, knowledge, passion and a true desire to understand what each person in our group was trying to get out of the experience. I assume there are many good guides, but I highly recommend that you request Gui. You will not be disappointed in your wonderful day nor your fantastic guide. Excellent Adventure!

First let me say that our guide, Martim, was amazing. So personable and very accommodating. This tour is actually owned by FlamingoGo Experiences, and if you look on their website, you will find more information and a better description of the tour. I wish I had known this before I booked. It’s definitely geared toward the millennials! We ended up not doing the hike. Again, no fault of Flamingo, but had the description on this website been better, we would have chosen a different tour. When I asked how intense the hike was, it was described as “moderate”. They left out the part of needing to use ropes to get up and down in parts. Again, Martim made this work for us, but the beach and tapas part surely wasn’t what we had hoped for. They’re a great group of tour guides and had we been 20 years younger, the experience might have been different.Awesome tour guide

Thoroughly enjoyed this tour!! The best part was our guide, João, and his mind-opening discussions during our tour of the Regaliera. Unexpected items: 1) No time spent at or tour options given for Pena Palace, Moorish Castle, the National Palace and the Natural Park. 2) The Jeep was LOUD! Difficult to hear everything João shared over the Diesel engine. 3) Lunch was delicious but I was expecting more of a “grab and go” style so we could see and do more points of interest in the area, not a 90min relax-and-enjoy-local-culture sit down meal. 4) I didn’t understand that the last item on the tour, Cascais, was also the end point of the tour. The end point is in a different town than the starting point— not a round-trip! These unexpected items did not make the tour a bad experience at all, just things I was not anticipating.Jeep Fun

We had a great day and our guide Guilemore was even better, full of info and charm. The problem was we had communicated with With Locals that we wished to begin our tour at 930 am so we could finish earlier. With Friends indicated that 930 would be the earliest we could start because of the opening times of the attractions we would visit. It turns out that the tour group Flamingos that With Friends contracts out, actually begins at 930 am. With Friends then failed to communicate this with the Flamingos and Guilemore showed up at 1000 am instead of 930 am. The agreed upon time. Save yourself the time and money and book the great Jeep tour through the Flamingos tour group instead of With Locals. I've had great experiences with With Locals in other countries and will use the group in the future they just dropped the ball in this case. Jody Great tour, poor communication.

The actual tour is ten times better than the description. Our guide was incredibly well versed in the history and culture of Sintra and was able to bring great explanations and details of the sites we visited. The mid-day meal in a town way off the beaten path was a once-in-a-lifetime experience of food and local culture. And then there was the wild ride to beaches, rocky cliffs and thickly wooded forests that was a feast for the eyes. Awesome adventure

We met Guilherme on our Sintra tour. He was FABULOUS!!! One of the best tour guides we’ve ever had. He was so much fun! He is incredibly knowledgeable, intelligent, charming - all of the above. We literally talked about everything. Sintra’s history, castles and architecture - he sure covered those, but we also touched on Portuguese culture, traditions, life style, food, literature - you name it, we talked about it. Our last day in Portugal was so much fun!
