Oh my goodness, we had such a fabulous time with Gabi, walking around and tasting in his beloved Rome. This is a must-do activity, as Gabi will give you a feel for the city and its gems, and a taste for the most local foods and wines. Meeting Gabi was one of the key highlights of Rome for me. Gabi is really fun and an amazing expert in lifestyle and gastronomy. He showed us some amazing churches which ideally one wouldn't get to see and explained the cultural side really well. The best part was the walk to Trastevere where we got to try some amazing cookies and the best gelato I have ever had. We visited the Jewish quarters and learned a lot about food, culture. Gabi is extremely flexible and personable. He met us at the Pantheon which unfortunately didn't have wireless service. We almost missed him, but he looks just like his picture so we finally found him. So make sure you arrange for another signal besides a cell phone. We enjoyed a great afternoon together with Gabriele during our food walking tour, he took us to places we would never of found by ourselves, which set us up for the following days knowing what to look out for when considering our food choices. This was a great tour. My Husband, mother and I spent a great day with Gabriele. Since we had been in Rome a few days already and had already done a Withlocals Tour a few days earlier with Margherita, Gabriele adjusted the itinerary. He showed us some great "local" spots and took us into areas that are off the tourist trail. He has a great knowledge and love for the City and his enthusiasm for doing tours was very apparent. The only downside was that we should have done the tour at the beginning of our stay so we could enjoy more of the places he showed us. At the end of the tour we decided to eat at one of the places he had recommended and he was kind enough to wait in line with us until we were seated. We thought that was a lovely gesture. Gabriele was an excellent, friendly, fun tour guide. He gave us a superb, big orientation to Rome. We walked almost 10 miles with him in about four hours, which was fantastic for us. (He said that most tours cover much less distance and fewer famous sites. We were in good shape and he was happy to take us everywhere.) Gabriele is not a tour guide that will be able to give you a deep historical understanding of the dozens of landmarks. He is fantastic for giving you an understanding of the city, how to get around, enjoy it, and have a modern context for what you are seeing. He knows how to make you comfortable, adjust things to a pace that fits, and start with a gelato, rest with a cool drink at a cafe, and even show you where to get one of the best slices of pizza in Trastevere! We had an awesome tour with Gabriele! The tour is totally worth it, especially when you just arrived in Rome it's a great way of seeing a lot of beautiful things with well known and unknown highlights. You'll get good tips about where to eat, drink and whatever you want to know. We have had a unique and delicious pizza bread and cafe granita (which is to die for!!) and we finished our tour with some nice Italian beers! Spending the afternoon with Gabriele was clearly the highlight of our 16-day visit to Italy, and of course, we have experienced many wonderful things during our time in this beautiful country.
