Giada was the best! She took my family (husband and 2 kids 15/13) on a Venice kick start tour. We had already seen some sights the day before so she took us around to see and learn about other places and learn some really fun facts about Venice that were total surprises. Giada was so easy to be with, very personable and her stories were so interesting. Stuff you can’t google which makes it soooo worth it! Her personality is kind and super friendly. Did a Kickstart to Venice tour with Elena. We got delayed in our arrival into Venice so she without hesitation switched our meeting location to our hotel to make it easier on us. Her knowledge & love for Venice, as a multi-generational Venetian is contagious! However, this characteristic is only second to her knowledge of everything/anything Venice. Her tour is completely custom to your individual family. We enjoyed seeing the neighborhoods near the Rialto and getting to know the Venice away from the major tourist areas. We had a wonderful Kickstarter tour of Venice with Lu. My daughters (17 and 20) were not looking forward to a tour because they thought it would be boring, but they both enjoyed it. Lu did a great job of giving us great information, but not overwhelming us with details. She had pictures on her iPad to add more depth to the information she provided. We noticed things Lu had mentioned on our tour throughout our trip. She helped to making our trip to Venice more interesting. We did a tour with a different company the following day (Lu was not available) and we all wished Lu was doing the tour! She is a very gifted tour guide. Making this review very easy. Book Mark. He is an amazing tour guide. He got to know us right off the start. Then listened to how we would like the tour to go as he had some set areas but wanted to be sure we were getting the experience we wanted. My style is not too academic packed and more a little of that and a lot more of pointing out great local spots. He even suggested great ways to get around the town at different levels. Depending if we wanted to go to one of the other islands through a boat service or even down to how the gondolas function. His grasp of the language is impressive. He not only speaks as if he has been a local but has a great personality that is infectious with everyone we meet. He even introduced us to some of the artisans and restaurant owners and all know him as Mark The American. His love for the town beams, and if you have any questions look up on Facebook See Italy Tours and talk straight to Mark. He is very friendly and happy to make your Venice dreams come true. I definitely will be telling all my friends who want to see Venice to go no further and go with Mark. Also we booked a tour in Paris, Rome, and Florence and Marks tour of Venice was the best tour I have had in my lifetime so far. He definitely is a gem!Mark is the best tour guide.

F@ck Google. Ask Mark. Mark's tour is a TED talk, a Disney Fastpass, 1.5 college credits, an HBO comedy special and a swan dive into Italian food, culture and history rolled into one. Know that, should Mark lead you somewhere for food, you will be at the cool kids table. Everyone seems to know Mark and you wind up receiving the same warm welcome when you travel with him. My friend and I are just finishing a tour of four European cities. We ended in Venice. We had local guides in every city. We gave them all five stars and praised them all highly on their sites. Then we got to Venice and Mark. If the government was to do a Manhattan project to create the perfect guide, this dude is it. Right out of the gate we were getting incredible insights into the construction of Venice as a city and the pace never let up. I found myself frantically taking pictures so that I would have a visual memory of the various historical anecdotes that were coming at us so fast, they seemed belt fed. If you tour with Mark, everyone on the street knows him and he has a fine instinct to get his clients the most complete experience possible out of the time they have with him. Mark had shortcuts and cost saving maneuvers that got us through so many experiences, in such little time that it was astounding. Writing this now in the evening, my companion and I are still trying to catalog everything we saw and experienced. Some moments from throughout the day: We met artisans, food vendors, cops (We weren't in trouble or anything, just Mark knows everybody), you name it. We learned a spot different types of watercraft, which one was a hearse, ambulance, etc. We went to multiple markets, both fresh seafood and produce. We came to the Murano Glass store that Mark had put on our tour. When we got there, we saw a huge tour group massing at the front. Mark just walked around them, took us upstairs and told us where to sit for the demonstration. one of the gentlemen from the shop came to us to translate what the demonstration was. Afterwards we got a personalized demonstration about the glass from one of the senior employees. He explained the entire process of their creation to us in a one-on-one format. There's really too much to report, all I can tell you is that I will push all of my friends to come experience Venice under Mark's guidance. Everything else pales in comparison. The other with local guides that we had met, worked from a script. Mark had functioning encyclopedic knowledge of all aspects of the Venice experience. You need to ask a question, he can catch it, answer it - Make sure that the information addressed what' your question was, and then roll right back to where he was. The difference between him and other guides is that he was a trained educator. So you're not walking around following someone who points at things and explains them and then moves on to the next point. He loves the area, culture, history and enjoys running a lesson plan that can be tailor-made to what your interests are. Honestly at this point, I could give two shits about paintings from the 1400s, but learning about how the city was built, how the plumbing works, how they handle weather events. What you should do if you are in a weather event, and how to do it for the best price. Learning the mechanics of what kept the heart of the city beating was fascinating, I will say that Mark had mentioned that he had done several tours for with locals and he hadn't been paid for any of them yet (and months had passed at this point), and that he was likely dropping the platform. I have to say that this news severely disappointed me, and I will be looking for local guides elsewhere and not on this platform, if that's how they treat the people that do all the work. Would highly recommend looking him up via Face book at See Italy Tours. The Best Guide You Will Ever Have

This is our First time using WithLocals and loved the tour and the whole process leading up to the tour!
