Claudia met us at the designated site right on time. We had a wonderful tour with her. You have to have an interest in architecture to enjoy this tour. Thankfully, our group of four loves architecture. Claudia started us off at the Baths. Fascinating old building with great exterior and interior. From there we wandered all over the "Buda" side of the river and saw all kinds of old buildings constructed in the Art Nouveau style. She knew the history and significance of every structure. She is a delightful transplant from Italy who has been in Budapest for 12 years. We also spent quite a bit of time on the "Pesch" side of the city and thoroughly enjoyed that as well. Whenever I travel, pride myself in taking a deep dive, and my preparation for visiting a city like Florence, Vienna, or Budapest, starts several weeks before. We found Claudia to be a first rate guide to the secessionist architecture of Budapest. Her tour on both sides of the Danube took in numerous buildings of historic significance as well as obtaining access to several striking interiors, and her knowledge of the context in terms of British and western European art nouveau architecture and design was considerable. The tour was also well-paced for a couple of 70-odd-year-old enthusiasts. She's Italian with impeccable English, and very easy to listen to. In the current unfortunate circumstances of the permanent closure of the "House of Hungarian Art Nouveau" [just the frontage of the Bedo house can now be seen] and the temporary closure of the Museum of Applied Arts' offshoot Art Nouveau gallery at the Villa Rath, Claudia's tour was a godsend which rescued and greatly enhanced our planned art nouveau-themed visit to Budapest. Claudia knows her art nouveau!

I recently visited Budapest for several days, and one of the things on my itinerary was immersing myself in Budapest's rich Art Nouveau. Claudia's instagram (@budapestartnouveau) captured my imagination with her dreamily-shot portraits of Art Nouveau glass, mosaics, and wrought iron. She answered e-mails very promptly and provided a long list of recommendations for favorite cafes and restaurants as well. Instead of 2.5 hours, our tour was four hours of Art Nouveau bliss, including off-the-beaten path treasures that have been turned into private apartments. I had a glorious 3 hours on this tour. Firstly, it cave such a comprehensive view of so many neighborhoods of Budapest that the average tourist wouldn't have the opportunity to discover. Claudia was flexible in arranging our tour so that we could select our own meeting and ending locations. She has an outgoing personality. She is a speedy walker, so we were able to cover lots of ground and see lots of things. We opted for the 3 hour tour but she gave us an extra 30 minutes. She showed us some beautiful buildings which gave us an appreciation for the Art Nouveau style. She was also very knowledgable about everything else we asked questions about!!
